Very effective
This air cooler is very effective and uses evaporation (rather than a compressor) to cool your room. Although it doesn't need a vent hose you do need to be able to allow the air to circulate by having open windows/doors into the room being cooled. The fan although not silent is quiet with 3 settings and the evaporation (cooling) facility is regulated by controlling the flow of water behind the fan - an added benefit being the soothing sound of flowing water. It isn't particulary compact but it is well made and very effective providing you allow the circulation of air through the room to be cooled (if you do not it gets humid). Certainly recommended for the inevitable heat of summer.31

Worst product ever made
It would be effetive as the water does heat up and is dispelled as steam. However, the unit leaks profusely until there is less than a cup of water left in there, which it turns into steam in less than 20mins. I may have just got an absolute useless one and have yet to test the companies returns policy.
