I have this amp powering speakers in all rooms of my house. The sound quality is great and the amp is really easy to use.

For the money, this is a really excellent amplifier from every point of view except one, it does not have a remote control. If you don't need a remote, GO for it!

VOX DA5 CLASSIC REVIEW

THE CLASSIC RETRO VOX LIVERY IS A JOY TO BEHOLD,WELL EXECUTED, GIVING THE AMP AN AIR OF QUIET AUTHORITY.THE BUILD QUALITY IS SECOND TO NONE-SUPERIOR TO THE MICROCUBE (WHICH IS ITSELF BUILT JUST FINE) AND WAY ABOVE THE THROWN TOGETHER STREETMAN AMP-BOTH OF WHICH I OWN.ITS BUILT LIKE A MARSHALL-REASSURINGLY HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE-NUFF SAID.
THIS AMP IS LOUD, SO IF YOURE WORRIED ABOUT 5 WATTS NOT SOUNDING MUCH, DONT BE-IVE NOT HAD THE MASTER VOLUME PAST 6 YET.
TIME FOR A MOAN.THIS IS THE FIRST AMP IVE EVER OWNED WHERE IVE HAD TO REACH FOR THE OWNERS MANUAL.AM I THE ONLY GUITARIST WHO THINKS THIS A TAD WORRYING? SURE, DIALLING IN A PARTICULAR AMP SOUND IS EASY, BUT THE EDIT ARRANGEMENT FOR THE EFFECTS IS A CONFUSING PAIN.SURE, ITS ESSENTIAL THAT I CAN CHANGE THE SPEED OF THE TREMOLO, BUT THE DEPTH TOO-THEN I HAVE TO CONCERN MYSELF WITH SETTING THE NOISE REDUCTION..WHICH DO I PRESS AGAIN? WHICH DO I HOLD..OH, NOW THE REVERBS GONE..ER..?SHEESH-IS THIS AN AMP OR A RECORDING STUDIO? I FIND THE EDIT KNOBS AS CLEAR AS MUD, BUT HEY, MAYBE YOURE A BUDDING RECORDING ENGINEER...NO, I THOUGHT NOT.I FEEL VOX SHOULD HAVE SET SOME SENSIBLE PARAMETERS THEMSELVES AND LET US GET ON WTH PLAYING-THATS THE BEAUTY OF THE ROLAND MICROCUBE-PLUG N PLAY.
ALL THAT SAID, THE EFFECTS ARE, IT MUST BE SAID,FAR SUPERIOR IN SOUND QUALITY WHEN COMPARED TO THE MICROCUBE.THERE ARE SOME ABSOLUTELY STONKING TONES IN THIS AMP-THAT VOX AC30 AMPCRACKINGUP TYPE DISTORTION IS HERE-BRILLIANT-THE COMPRESSOR OPTION ABSOLUTELY ROCKS-THE QUALITY IS PHENOMONAL-THE AMPS WORTH IT FOR THAT TONE ALONE.THEYVE COVERED MOST BASES FROM CLEAN TO FILTHY-EVEN SOME SEVENTIES FUZZBOX DISTORTION ALONG THE WAY IF THATS YOUR BAG.SURE, SOMETIMES, SOME OF THE SOUNDS SOUND 'MODELLED', BUT THERE ARE SOME INCREDIBLE SOUNDS IN HERE.
THE VOX DA5 CLASSIC IS A HIGH QUALITY AMP-I DONT THINK YOU'LL REGRET BUYING IT.

Great Sony amplifier

Another great Sony hifi separate, which I have teamed with a newly bought Sony DAB tuner (STSDB900) and an existing CD player, cassette deck and turntable (yes, I still have one of them but rarely use it these days!). The silver version is another good looker. It's easy to set up, delivers great power and sound quality (vastly superior to my 10 year old amplifier), and is very simple to use, either from the front panel or the remote control. Another great buy.

Long term review

Worked well for about 1 year.
Has two outputs; a good feature, particularly for use with PVRs e.g. Topfield 5800.
Has adjustable gain (mine was always on maximum).
Has mounting holes, if you want to screw it onto a panel.
Always ran very hot, consequently I always kept it in a well ventilated area on a ceramic tile!
Mine broke after approximately 1 year, with the primary side of the transformer open circuit, presumably due to overheating.
