I bought this to pass the associated exam that the book is about. I did have some prior knowledge about XP, so this books just reinforced my own knowledge.I would have preferred to have seen more computerised questions on the CD-ROM, most of the practice questions are in the text. The guide is extremely detailed and gives you a step by step guide to completing the Big Boss extreme difficulty, which I have now subsequently completed. The guide also shows you numerous 'easter eggs' and gives a detailed guide to the story as I had no idea what was going on throughout the campaign. Thankfully I now understand the story thanks to the guide- unfortunately the first time I completed the story I fell asleep during the final cutscene, and it didnt help that I had never played any of the metal gear games before!
Highly recommended guide for good and bad players alike- enjoy :D

brilliant- opens me up to a whole new world of metal gear
I never normally buy guides, and this is the first time I have. Yeh, worth it.
Ok, this guide will not tell you how to find all the secrets or all the legendaries. However it does complete the 150ish pokedex nicely and round off the story mode. Some of the book is arranged slightly strangely, appears not to be in order, however, once the user has obtained fly and the amount of times you go back to cities it really doesnt matter where in the book it is, because you have to search for it anyway. It has great maps of areas though. Which is great!I recommend for the price!107

Bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, bought"Debugging the Development Environment" on the recommendation of my boss and would probably recommend neither for todays fluidic environments. Mythical Man Month contains a somewhat outdated view of software development, more suitably apt for an age when only long time development projects for mainframes existed and Web/PC development had not been heard of.Still relevant in parts to large waterfall based development projects, not helpful with RAD/Extreme and other more modern, small team development methods and probably only a useful read if you are new to project teams and/or have not worked in an IT environment

The only downside I have encountered is that it is not intuitive to use and the included documentation is poor. To be fair, Adobe do recommend that you use their website Help, but I'd recommend anyone who does not have Photoshop experience to also purchase Barbara Brundage's"Photoshop elements 6 for Mac The Missing Manual". This saved me going crazy in the learning phase and even now that I am comfortable with the program I still go back to the book for advanced tips and work-rounds.

An essential adjunct
I was interested in Photoshop Elements 6 but wondered whether I might end up paying nearly $100 for something that was not a lot better than iPhoto but much less functional than full Photoshop. What more can I say? Its all in here and with plenty of examples to show how it all works too. Nice writing style makes for easy reading - but at 1498 pages you ain't going to get through it in a day. Its great for dipping in and out of and for looking up the specifics of C#/ASP topics - or pick a chapter and enhance your knowledge.Very, very impressed by this - its my first APress book, but it won't be my last.

Again, I am still at school and find this book good. I'm using my spare time to learn Java so if it wasn't a good book, I wouldn't bother learning from it. Anyways, it is clearly layed out with a lesson for each day (although the lessons are long and will probably require a few days to complete each).
It is true that the book has some minor coding error but if you understand the language being taught up to the point of the error, it is really easy to spot and correct when writing it yourself. This also aids your learning; by spotting and correcting mistakes!
I had never done any programming or any sort before and this book is really helping me get my first language done with ease. Thus; this book is for complete beginners to programming or just to java.
If your looking to learn java and want an up-to-date book (for Java 6) this is it. Don't bother looking anywhere else or get an older book not meant for learning the newer versions of Java; GET THIS ONE.

I'm a pupil still at school but hoping to do Computer Games Technology at university next year. In preperation for my course which will involve C++, i was recommended by a senior lecturer to learn Java.
