Healthy Appetite is an excellent book.

Gordon bangs on that healthy is not boring..... and he is right. Gone are the trademark cream and reduced sauces, the butter basted meats and in come healthy full english breakfasts, 5 ways with tomates- salads, homemade ketchups. Dishes for a working lunch, entertaining and desserts.

One of the best cookery books in years

I'm a big fan of Ottolenghi, having eaten there a few times. I was really looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint. There's a fresh take on everything and even though some recipes (french beans, mangetout in a hazelnut and orange dressing) are little more than assembly jobs, they're great for inspirations. I love the layout, the recipes, everything. Buy it!

Such a help with those worries about weaning

I was quite apprehensive about weaning before I started; I didn't have a clue how or what to start with. So I decided to purchase this book, and was so glad with my purchase. It gives great guidleines on the weaning process, which many simple to cook recipes and ideas. I don't know how I would've coped without this book!

factory hens and grocery (sainsburys) store profits

Delia obviously knows nothings about nutrition - bless her, she's a different generation: believes all the hype about factory farming and gladly gives the thumbs up saying it's okay for poor people to buy inferior (poisoned?) meat. What's worse is that alot of people (my mum included!) will buy this book. We all know she works with/for sainsburys. Here she is pushing the pre-packed/ready made ingredients....

Treat yourself

I absolutely love this book, I watched the show and was so lulled by Nigella's coquettish cooing that I found myself wanting to make everything she did. I got the book as a gift from friends after encouraging them to watch the show, and invited them over for a Nigella Night where I made the Coq au Reisling and the Chocolate Pistachio Fudge (which although a bit rich is absolutely divine and can be varied with flavoured chocolated and some unsalted cashews as well). I have to say I much prefer watching the show as her adjective style (beat this until it forms stiff white creamy peaks) is almost as fun to watch as the cooking. But the book is fantastic and the illustrations are great - although I am a little dubious about her claim to have taken pictures of them herself with a digital camera in the foreword!

A must for people that want to cook quickly, easily, cheaply and don't have too much concern on special occassions about calories!

Good Introduction

I bought this book recently through a desire to understand the countryside around me and try some of its natural foodstuffs.
The book is very well presented and includes an excellent foreword by the author. It provides a basic explaination of the various flora, a little of their natural and culinary history and there are nice photographs with identification hints.
I think I would like to have seen more recipies and ways in which they might be implemented. In the section dedicated to Spring I think there are only three recipies with much of the other suggestions directed towards salads. On balance a satisfactory purchase but I think that if my interest in wild foods develops I will certainly have to follow up my purchase with something more wholly dedicated to the culinary.

Fast Food

This is a great book with loads of recipes as featured in 'The F Word'. They are all easy to make and can be prepared and cooked in under 30 minutes, and the selected menu ideas can be put together in about 45 minutes. The recipes are easy to follow and are very clear, i've tried other book and got lost at times, but you get none of that with this book. The photography is great and really shows the food well. You occasionally get pictures of the food in it's pre and post cooked state so that you can see how it should look before and after and acts as a great guide. I've used this book (as well as Jamie Oliver's latest) to help me try some new recipes and to add some new ideas to my usual selection of meals I make on a routine basis. This is perfect for that goal, as each recipe is perfectly timed to get it prepared and cooked when i've got in from a busy day at work. The food tastes great as well, what more can you ask for? Well worth a try to expand your cooking skills and recipe knowledge.

Any body heard of Baby led Weaning?

I bought this book before I had come across the concept of Baby Led weaning. This is a process of introducing your baby to food that the family eats. Babies are perfectly able to pick up and eat solid food from as young as 6 months. The gag reflex they have is not chocking, it is a natural response from stopping them eating before their gut is ready to receive solid food. In this book the purees introduce solid food into a babies gut at a time that may not be appropriate. If your baby can push things to the back of it's mouth and swallow then it is ready for solid food. Mushing food up and forcing it past their gag reflex can actually damage your baby and cause digestion problems for the rest of it's life.
Breastfeeding mothers will also be aware of the concept of letting the baby decide how much it would like to eat. If you give your child the freedom to pick up solid food from the start of weaning then there is a huge reduction in the likelihood of childhood obesity. Mushing up food and expecting them to eat a set amount is not helpful.
Ditch the purees and give your baby it's veg in handy chunks. Throw this book away and just cook with no salt - the adults can add it to their dinner and it means everyone is eating the same thing together!
Go on...give it a try!

The bloke's story is inspiring and he comes across brilliantly on TV. The cook book does not disappoint. Great recipes, Great man. And no , I am not a relative, friend or business associate!

My Favourite Recipe Book

Great, easy to follow recipe's that are guaranteed to be both filling and tasty. I highly recommend the Pumpkin and Bean Spaghetti (pp 66-67)!

The only down side is that this book - like many recipe books - expects you to be feeding a family. I would have liked to have seen more recipe's aimed at serving 2 or fewer people.

Amazing book!

This book is totally life changing...I have struggled with my eating and food for years and years. Marisa Peer has wrote this most fantastic book with real understanding. The cd is great and really easy listening. I TOTALLY recommend this book to anyone with food /eating issues...it will help you 100% x

Easy and Tasty Food, Everytime

A genuine revolution

I have been using this book continuously since I bought it. The weekly shopping lists, seasonal layout and economical way of using leftovers are very appealing but the best thing is the superb collection - and quantity - of recipes. Absolutely no disappointments so far and I can't wait to try more.

I'd like to take issue with the reviewer below. I too have followed the shopping lists exactly. I did part of my weekly shops online but tried to get as many of the fresh ingredients from local shops - and managed to hit the budget each time. Also I found that the timings in the recipes worked perfectly (and they are laid out in a countdown format, for example '45 minutes before you want to eat' . . . which is extremely useful).

For anyone who regularly cooks for 2 or more people this is a must-buy, and for anyone who has already bought Nigella/Jamie/Delia/Nigel etc and would like a deeper trove of ideas to dig into, this will be a treat.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just coming to the end of my juicing week an all i can say is wow!! The book itself does the job explains the diet etc but the actual diet itself is amazing!! i have never felt better i have more energy an i feel so positive to continue after the week of encorporating smoothies an juices into my diet!!

im not heavy over weight just had 2 stone that i really wanted to shift for summer so i started with this book i can safely say i have lost 6lbs an feel great about it, i never followed his exercise regime to the T ie i couldnt get up at 6 to go for morning exercise but managed to exercise at lunch time in between work an also every evening either jogging or biking.

i also purchased the juice wall plan which shows exactly what shakes to have, before even starting the plan i immediatley cut out half the shakes as i knew i didnt need 5 juices a day i simply had one for breakfast one for dinner an one for tea of course with any diet there are one or two that arent the best in flavour but you know how many vitamins and minerals are in there that it powers you through!!! i have come away from the diet with 3 firm favourite drinks that i shall be having regularly!!

of note though i never purchased the wheatgrass or spinuloa i think thats correct so you may even have better results with this!!

I'm juiced !

As a fellow author who writes books on holistic living, I've mentioned Jason in my books, when I wrote Imperfectly Natural Woman I had read 71bs in 7 days but confess I didn't actually get round to doing it ! Better late than never though, I now have the 'juicemaster' bug. Good old Jason has changed my life. I attended a 'juicy retreat' lost almost a stone in weight and best of all have kept the weight off since coming home. How ? no diets, calorie counting or misery, just having Jasons 'turbo charger' smoothie for brekkie and juicing daily, best of all we never buy fruit juice or cordials anymore, the kids know the fruit bowl will always contain fruit and they help themselves. Its the best way of sneaking veg into them too, the little ones have no idea mums sneaking in broccoli, courgettes, celery and cucumber into their tropical smoothies. The recipes are brilliant and this is the easiest way to lose weight and stay slim but best of all its about health and its incredible how we can promote drugs across the media and yet its seen as 'propoganda' if we make claims about the anti-cancer healing properties of juicing your fruit and veg. Get juicy, you won't regret it...
P.S Jason is also an amazing 'life coach' he wouldn't call himself that but he sures does sort out addictions and help people decide whats important in their life.

A very much straight to the point story

This book was bought as a Fathers Day gift, it was a complete surprise and not a book I would have bought for myself. Wow what a surprise, many aspects of Gordon Ramsey's life really have been quite harrowing, but his drive and motivation is what really did it for me. The amount of training he put himself through starting again and again from the bottom and working his way up, if anyone deserves to be where they are today then he does. A good read.
