Using the item is child's play. Simply plug in the supplied power supply to your old hard drive that you want to connect. Then plug the supplied ATA connector into the hard drive, and plug the other end into your USB port. Within seconds Windows XP recognised the drive. I was able to copy off the files I wanted and then start formatting the drive within about 2 minutes (no more than) of unpacking the goods.
The only downside (very minor) is that the USB-connected hard drive does occupy as much of the USB bandwidth as it can grab for itself when transferring files. As such, if you're still surviving on USB-connected ADSL modems then these will drop their connections whilst it's copying.
Overall, a nice bit of kit, and the seller proved to be very good.

My scepticism was proven wrong !
I was a little sceptical about buying this product, as it seemed a little bit cheap and cheerful. However, the seller (EW Link) were good, and the item arrived within 2 days, and was well packaged.Using the item is child's play. The most annoying thing to say is NOWHERE does it state whether or not it is a voltage converter except once you've opened the packaging. Just to set you straight, it is NOT! So, why, you ask, is it so expensive? The answer is : no idea. So, you could say they are lying when they say charge anything.
By the way, it says not to use it with a hairdryer!!

Don't bother
I purchased this through a third party on a recent trip to London. I was not carrying the camera - a D200 - so was unable to try the release until I returned to Zimbabwe. I was not pleased to find the plug pins are dimensionally oversize and will not go into the socket on the camera rendering the release useless. Returning item from here with attendant problem of having bought it through another party is hardly worth the trouble so I now have a release which is useless. The delivery was also made by courier and was execeptionally expensive as one would expect. This is the sellers standard method but is not mentioned at time of purchase.Altogether a disappointment, be thankful it's not available at the moment and if things change give it a miss.
