Great Camera!!!
Bought this camera five weeks ago whilst on holiday, have recorded both HD ans SD. The HD is mindblowing when hooked upp to a 1080HD TV. You would honestly think it was recorded by a pro.Also bought Sony Vegas Platinum editing studio. This does thet you edit the AVCHD format and burn it to standard DVD's in SD format whilst keeping the original HD content for future burns to Blu Ray when cost comes down or showing on a HD TV via the Camcorder its self.

A slight draw back is that so many of the manual controls are accessed via menus rather than buttons (I gather the older GS400 was better in that respect) but most of the time automatic mode is perfect anyway.
All in all I am delighted with this camera.

Superb Image Quality
This is the third camcorder I have used. Until this one I had always been disappointed with the quality of the output; not any more - the sharpness and colour quality are brilliant. I am delighted because that is what I was looking for and what lead me to a 3CCD camera.The camera is also very comfortable to use and battery life seems better than quoted.

I started a few years ago with the Canon XM1, and was taken with its simplicity of operation, and its outstanding results. When the XL1s came out I bought that too, based on my happy experiences with the XM1. Though I use the XL1s much of the time on production shoots, I have a new 'baby' with the XM2. This camera is a 'no nonsense' high performance tool with almost no vices. It is capable of doing about 95% of the work I do with the XL1s, and as a number 2 unit to my XL1s, it has relegated my old trusty XM1 to the 'back up box' (not that has since been needed). The XM2 has to be the best 'under £2000' camera buy I have ever made. The XM2 is noticably sharper, more stable and even easier to use than the XM1.113

I bought it hoping it could replace my Canon Ixus 70 for pointing and shooting. My top priority was size, then price, then quality. First two are okay, third is not. The image is blurry and lacks color, actually the Canon performs almost better but then again it's 4:3. Best thing I can say about the SDR-10 is that it can film 16:9 and has stereo sound, but again don't expect too much. Really. However, as a kid toy it will be awesome and maybe the new Spielberg or Tarantino will start here.114

Works with PC and Apple computers
This is an excellent camera for both still and moving images. I edit using an Apple Computer. Although it isn't compatible with iMovie 6, a simple upgrade to iMovie 08 solved all my problems. You plug the camera into the computer and stand back, the Apple recognises the camera, launched iMovie, asks to import the movies then creates movies already filed by date. Look no hands !118

A little disappointed!
Havent got any complaints with the actual item, but am a little disappointed that it is not compatible with Windows Vista. Have contacted Digital Blue and they cannot give me a definite date as to when the software will be available. Beware !
I bought this camera at Christmas. For some reason the bundled software that came with it is no longer properly importing the video to my PC and my existing videos have stopped playing back.No problem I thought - I'll just re-install the software. However - I was unable to find my installation CD.
Ok - so I went over to the Sony website. No software. Just a patch for the existing software. With a sense of foreboding I asked Google. Browsing a few forums it seems that if you lose your CD, Sony will charge you $60 for a new one ! There is no way you can (legally) download the software online.
I'm deeply unhappy. Now I have a corrupt software installation, and no means of putting it right, and therefore no means of getting my high-definition video off the camera.
I strongly recommend that you choose someone else's product. Support this poor is indefensible.
