Great addition, but....

This subwoofer really adds good depth to the sound from your wlt66 TV but:

If you are putting this on the back of the telly, it leaves no room for some quality Scart leads such as the Thor Scart lead and 3 way leads that plug into a scart adapter [...]. It only leaves room for the L-shaped leads. I've just got a Thor Scart to Scart, and have had to put the subwoofer on the floor until I decide to maybe try to make a spacer to extend the size of the screw in attachements on the back of the telly to allow more space. This won't be a problem with the HDMI inputs as they are in a different position on the back of the TV.

Also the manual is poor, as it shows two tellys with some unheard of model number. It also doesn't advise how to set the TV. I have set up the TV to 'Variable' sound output so the woofer's volume changes with the TV volume. This does leave the woofer a bit quiet though compared to 'fixed' which is often a bit loud and doesn't change with the volume. On the TV I have also set the bass boost to"off" and lowered the bass to leave the deeper sounds to the woofer, which seems to work well. Would have been nice if the manual suggested these settings in the first place though!

Overall, no complaints about the sound, it just could have been better implemented.

Real bass at last

I like mine so much I wrote to the manufacturer:

Hi,

had my Octavia fitted with one of your 10'' active 'Flytrap' subs on Saturday: just thought I'd let you know, it is just incredible what a difference it has made to the music in my car! (Sony head unit and 6.5'' JBL door speakers... loud and clear but no bass... but after adding the Flytrap... freakin' awesome!)

I'm a drummer and I also play a bit of bass... and I love to listen to music at a proper volume level. Previously, I had to add loads of EQ just to hear anything at all in the bottom end, and one I turned it up, the sound was mushy and distorted. Plus there was still no real bass. I expect you've heard this story 1000 times before.

After installing the Flytrap, with the EQ set flat, my car is filled with deep, even, effortless bass, complementing the mid and treble perfectly. Billy Cobham's kick drums sound like... Billy Cobham's kick drums (i.e. very loud deep and punchy), and you can hear the bass lines properly. The thing is, the sound isn't overblown, boomy or 'one note' bass. But there *is* more than enough bottom end, without even pushing it hard. There is no distortion anymore, even when you turn it up until the treble and midrange is too loud for comfort (the bass never gets uncomfortable, it just makes the seats and mirrors vibrate!)

This is how you are supposed to listen to music... I was a little worried that it wouldn't sound great, because of the price-tag. I needn't have: it's brilliant!
