Anthing but quiet. Only suitable for a noisy environment. Design is bulky and old-fashioned, was also badly made with fan not central on the spindle. Not a bargain buy!

Battery operated desk fan

This fan is cheap and cheerful but for the money you should know what to expect. It arrived in one piece in 48 hours and while it is certainly not silent it is ideal for office use. Pity it requires 4"C" batteries rather than the usual"AA" but it does represent decent value for money.

Excellent value!

This is a great little fan, a perfect entry level model, ideal for the home and really helps in the bedroom on those hot muggy nights. It's easy to assemble so you'll have it running in minutes. There are two speed settings, high and low and at £10.99 it was a true bargain - which you won't regret.

Not great in a heatwave

I got this for my partner as his air con was broken in his car and it was during the heatwave. he did use it during this period, but in the heat it just seemed to move hot air around the car and was quite bulky.

It has subsequently ended up in the bin.. it didn't seem to beat just having the window down (even if you combined it with this)so was only good when it cooled down a bit... which kinda defeats the object really!

Reading the other review I bought this fan expecting a silent storm. What arrived was the Micromark MM53519 - accompanied with inprecise instructions as to how to assemble the fan. After the unecesarily long time I spent trying to build the fan I took it for a test breeze. (The sturdiness was questionnable but so far so good)- it was okay. It did the job but wasn't quite the sensation described elsewhere. The silver grating covering the fan blades creates a kind of muffled sound and quite possibly blocked the fan from blowing at its potential. Then when using the rotating option I found that there was a faint rattle.

Yes this could just be my fan and badly misrepresents the other fans of this model but I think another fan would provide a better 'service'

Through this experience i have found - Fans are better when bought from shops, alternatively you could test the model out in a shop and buy online.

Great fan at a great price

This fan is an excellent product with 3 speeds oscillating and very handy timers which you can choose from 1 hr, 2 hrs or 4 hrs. It has red light indicators to show what speed and what timer option.

Excellent Fan, sturdy and quiet and good features.

I am very pleased with this fan as it replaces a rather noisy Pedestal fan in our bedroom with the usual perilous metal cross legged floor support. This fan has a neat round base perfectly adequate for stability and no danger of tripping over. It is fairly light to but very good strong construction and made by Lloytron as that is how it is 'badged' on the fan shield. Neat little remote control which can be clipped on the back of the fan for storage or when not in use. Range of remote control is excellent as it even worked when not pointed at fan, very unusual but good idea. Also like the 'Mode' setting on remote control that gives a 'breeze' effect alternating the fan from medium speed down to low speed. I'm a disable person so wanted a fan with remote control and tried others but remotes and stability let them down but this one ticks all the checkboxes and I can highly recommend it. One oversight on the part of the manufacturer is the fact that one needs a 'philips' type screwdrive to assemble base to upright pole and it might have been a good idea if the manufacturer had supplied a lightweight tool to assemble base just in case one does not own a 'philips' screwdriver. Apart from that I can only again highly recommend it and I've tried several fans far more expensive than this model which is far superior in quality and style. I give it 10 out of 10 for quality.

A much needed relief

I know we don't get much sun and warmth here in the UK, but there was a real scorcher last summer (lasted about two weeks) and not being used to that unbearable degree of heat, I was in desperate need of some relief. I swore by this fan during those humid nights and even though it's a bit noisy, I got used to it after a little while. It's even got a nifty timer on top so you can get to sleep first, body temperature will cool, and it shuts itself off.

I'm glad to have it.

review

This 12 inch fan is pretty powerful. It's got a good solid base so no worries about it being unsteady. The speed dials give it a nice old-fashioned/retro touch. Nice shiny outside.
The only minor fault - the fan's not as quiet as promised in the manufacturer's review.
But on the whole, a good product.
