hello kitty on camera

I was really worried about going down the"character" camera route,as ultimately i wanted my 8 yr old to take good pictures, not just look at the design.However i was pleased with the camera, it is small, easy to use, very appealing and similar in features to other makes at the same price.If i have any reservations at all they would be: no real instuctions included. You still need to add on cost of memory card + case. It eats batteries for a pastime. Overall it's okay for the money.My daughter loves it and although i could have bought something more child friendly (ease of use, it's v.easy to get camera shake)the Hello Kitty branding did it for us!I wouldn't buy it for a child much younger than mine as it's not been designed for"little hands"

A neat little camera for new digital users

I got the camera going in next to no time; it takes standard AA batteries (supplied). Oddly, the quick guide omits to tell you how to put the memory card into the camera. I've only had the camera a few days so some other quirks may become apparent later. There is a comprehensive user guide on CD-ROM. A cable is used to connect the camera via USB to your PC, and there's software to enable the transfer of pictures. The camera is easy to use, and has lots of advanced features including night photography which I doubt I will ever use. It's straight-forward to review your photos on the camera's screen and to delete the rubbish. If you go ahead and buy, do get a bigger memory card to store more photos. Otherwise, its a neat box of tricks. If, like me, you were brought up using 35mm films some years ago, this is a pleasant introduction to 21st century digital photography.

Quite impressed. First time purchase of a webcam. Took some of the comments and then made an informed guess. Glad I did! Plug in load up and away we go. Had a awful picture of me but I supppose the camera never lies. Have yet to use in chat mode but if it works as well as it has done then brilliant.

Seems ok

I have had this camera a few weeks now and it seems very good. Has a simple mode for quick snaps and various advanced levels with quite a large amount of manual control if you require it. The battery compartment cap is the only flimsy part of the camera I would give it 4.8 out of 5 as if you were very heavy handed you might break the cap.

Poor camera from Pentax

The Pentax Optio 60 has some serious problems. The camera will not lock focus at low light levels (living room level) making it almost impossible to take good photographs indoors, even with flash. The camera eats batteries, re-chargeable is not the solution. There are much better cameras available at lower price - look elsewhere.

Simply stunning!

I have used many 'pro spec' D.S.L.R's, and without doubt the PENTAX K20D is a fantastic camera. It gives results as good as cameras costing three times the price. Add the Pentax D-BG2 battery grip - to help with handling and to up the battery capacity. Fit a PENTAX lens, and you will have a D.S.L.R capable of amazing results.

My choice as a bridge from small compact to DSLR

I am pleased with what this A700 offers me; point and shoot and easy to carry around or use additional lenses / tripod and manual settings when I want. I was initially looking at a DSLR but personally thought they were too large for my needs. Additionally I am a photo novice and find that I can read into some basic techniques (using the A700 manuals / photo magazine & book directions) and use this camera (and follow up with Adobe Photoshop) without getting bogged down in complex camera / picture set ups.

This is my route to enjoying photography, to give me PC / Digital Photo Frame content in addition to printed out / mounted photos.

so glad we bought this camera

I bought this Olympus SP700 digital camera for my 88 year old father. After the inital learning curve had been conquered he now picks it up and confidently points and shoots photos at will.
Good colour, easy to use, auto funtion more than adequate for most things. Range of options impressive with explanations on the lovely large 3" LCD screen.
Highly reccomended.
