Fantastic Camera at a fantastic price.

If like me you are looking for a camera that you can adjust every setting similar to an expensive SLR to achieve the perfect shot but your partner does not share the same camera savvy and only wants to point and fire then go no further as this camera has everything you could want and more that you might try for the first time at an unbeatable price.

A little gem of a camera

This stylish camera is a joy for the amateur snapper. The picture card supplied is a pathetic 64mb, and there is no case. So I bought a 512mb xD-picture card and a soft case to carry everything in (WARNING - you can't take movies with some xd cards). Also a spare Hama battery which I have never had to use. Have just been to the Hampton Court Flower Show where I took over 200 pictures (automatic setting, maximum resolution). At home I put the camera in its nifty little cradle, and downloaded the pictures. It then took a couple of hours to recharge the battery. I ended up with some superb pictures, crystal clear, stunning colours. Some were taken in the marquees and as it was a sunny day, the flash was redundant, however I did use the flash occasionally. I also had it on Chrome to give extra vibrancy to the colours.

A drawback is the LCD screen which is difficult to see in bright sunlight, even on maximum setting.

This camera has many features and can be set on manual for you to control everything about the shot. But why bother, when it produces such jewel-like pictures on auto?

A couple of hints. Buy a tripod. You can get one for less than £15. Don't drop the camera, it is a delicate precision mechanism. Read the manual. It goes into detail about all the manual settings, taking movies etc. Don't bother with the software supplied unless you must. Use some good quality photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. This will allow you much more control over cropping and you will definitely need to adjust the brightness and contrast, especially on some indoor pictures. Above all, take loads of pictures and be VERY selective about which ones you keep. Back up all your pictures on to a CD. Happy snapping!

Great images, Easy to use, Fun and very pleased

I have previously owned the Fuji F30, Canon v5 and used various Sony 6mp camera, these are all highly rated Cameras but they are boring campared to this!!!!

This camera is great, very easy to use and the bigger screen really makes a difference to the experience of shooting and viewing. The PICMOTION feature is awesome and is a very cool feature, my kids and friends love viwing the pictures. Videos are crisp and sound quality is great. You can time pictures every 30 secs, 1 min and play back, record sound and edit pictures on the camera. The extra features on this camera really make the camera special.

This has been the best Digital Camera I have used and bought ever, and you will not be disapointed with it.

why hello......... basically i brought this camera about a week ago and at first i must say that i thought it was pretty terrible i kept geeting blurry shots with noise.... i am doing a animation for art school works and for that it was truly gret as you can speed through shots really fast and by pressing unzoom in view mode see all your pictures idsplayed NICEly. As you begin to master the camera in all its glory your pictures will become far more clear ive been mainly using auto mode recently and they look sowwweeet. Also there are sooo many different modes to choose from which each make a noticable difference. battery life is pretty bad buy a few, while animating lasted about 3 hours but i guess i was taking continual shots and deleting etc. the macro mode is pretty awesome for taking very close up shots, took some of flowers, grass, jeans, dead insects etc. and its very impressive. It's looks are great not to mention its size and still preforms well enough to blow up to A3 (they actually look good)you just have to give this camera some time and then you will realise its true greatness and this is coming from someone who was going to send it back when i first tried it. Sooooooooooooooo just stick with it and you'll end up with some really good photos. I do art i know what i'm talking about. ohh yer watch out for people trying to jack it cos i assure you, you'll be very angry.

Perfect as a"Night-time" Camera for Party People

I usually take all my photos with the impessive Fuji S5500 camera, but have found it too large to"whip out" in a hurry in a bar or restaurant and check the settings prior to shooting.
I previously bought an A500 to take photos where there was low light and required a point and shoot capability - the A500 was rubbish for this as every photo had red-eye regardless of the setting, so; I purchased the F20 based on the reviews I read here (and a brand loyalty to Fuji - who usually always produce quality cameras) and I am impressed.
Close up flash photography produces remarkably clear"eye" shots without a hint of red nor a bleaching of the subject at close range. The"Party" setting produces an incredibly soft yet well lit photo which looks like a professional shot when viewed on print (or Screen).
I agree with the comment that ladies will love this camera as it is small, light and has a large 2 inch viewing screen. One last thing - the response time from turning on to taking a photo is fast so you don't miss your shot and the refresh rate between flash charges is also impressive. Best price at the moment is £79.99 in a well known high street catalogue store. Purchase and be impressed (mine is in the charcoal finish and adds additional"street cred")

Excellent camera

This is an excellent camera - the best I've had to date. I'm so looking forwards to taking it out on the boat once the weather warms up this summer.

Pros:
- Very fast to boot and take pictures; I pulled it out of its case and snapped the front of a moving subway train. On previous cameras I've used, I would have been lucky to snap the back of the train as it left the tunnel! In short, there's virtually no shutter lag, which makes this a winner for me.

- There's no lens 'extension' to snag or flatten the battery as it extends/retracts. This must contribute to its fast boot times and decent battery life.

- It's waterproof. Not yet tested it in anger, but if it's not, it'll be going back under warranty!

- Very simple and clearly labelled controls. Most settings were obvious (like turning off the daft click and boot-up noises). A quick scan of the excellent manual was enough to understand the more complex settings.

- Good battery life - probably as it's not constantly extending and retracting the lens.

- Totally quiet in operation - there's no click/bang/buzz/polyphonic ringtone. Nor is there a whirr of the lens extending. Excellent for taking pictures in museums/libraries/churches.

Cons:
- No lens cap. You *must* buy the optional case and make a conscious effort to not smudge the lens, although you could wash the camera to clean it!

- No optical rangefinder, so you have to rely on the screen to frame pictures. This is not much use if it's dark or very bright --this isn't to say the screen's bad, just limited like all screens.

Other comments:
- It comes with some software including some editing software and USB drivers, but this isn't necessary if you have a card reader (and Photoshop/Fireworks).

- Photo quality seems great. I'm sure it won't stand up to it's bigger and more expensive brethren, but then again they can't compete in the silence and waterproof game!

- Please Pentax, on your next model, could you just add the option of a snap-on lens cap? This camera will be used in places that are far more likely to end up in damage, for instance in a cockpit locker on a sailing boat.

In all this is a great 'snappy' camera that will be travelling everywhere with me. It's not a semi-pro camera or aiming at the highest quality. But it is waterproof, and that for me is essential for any electronic equipment destined for the great outdoors.

I'm completely chuffed to bits with it!

Perfect Solution

This was the perfect solution for me. I wanted something small but capable of good stills and reasonable video. This camera achieves both. Let me stress that the video is reasonable - not hollywood quality! I've had this camera for over 1 year and we have clocked up over 1000 pictures and hours of video and it has worked great!

Great for the pocket

I am very much into photography having purchased succesive SLR's from Pentax, Nikon and Cannon over the year. Have purchased/viewed over 20 digital cameras and always come back to Fuji, their cameras are simply outstanding. Have alraedy owned five Fuji digital cameras. Thw two I use at present are this one and the 6500. The 6500 is more like a SLr and is the camera I use for visits to the zoo (great optical zoom0 and Disney land. When I require a camera I can put in my pocket (the Beach or any occassion I do not waant a brick around my neck) this is the camera I take. Th equality is excellent and it is so portable. My 7 year-old loves to use this camera as weel, it is easy. Since writing this review have upgraded the 610 to the 920, far better definition, four times optical zoom and slighly larger LCD display. Still use the 6500, great camera.

Brilliant

This was my first digital camera (my main camera was a Minolta 7000 SLR, which is now worthless!). Martin Lewis recommended it as a good buy from Amazon and after 18 months I am still very pleased, so much so that I am about to buy one for my wife. I have only one problem with it, so a word of advice to potential buyers. When you turn it on, check the mode dial. On more than one occasion I have taken a photograph and discovered that I have taken 15-20 seconds of video!! Otherwise, excellent value for the money.

Fantastic camera

I have owned this camera for just under a week. I have very little experience of photography but wanted to learn, partly because I like to paint and thought I could gather myself some inspiring material. I have to say that this camera and the accompanying software is absolutely fantastic. I have been happily taking pictures of pets, landscapes, wildlife and even text! The image quality has been astounding - I can't believe that I've actually taken these photos!!! Everything seems easy to learn, is very well organised, and is set out in a way that encourages the user, even a very inexperienced user like me!! I feel motivated to experiment knowing that I have the back-up of first rate technology.

I have had no problems whatsoever with the software nor the camera itself. I am absolutely delighted and would highly recommend this product.

No problems yet!

I've had this camera for about 2 months and have had no problems as yet! I find it easy to use and it takes great pictures. I'm no professional photographer, but the pics look good to me, and the camera's perfect for what I need it for.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2 Review

I bought this camera brand new off ebay for about £150.

I did my research and have to say this is the best camera i have ever owned.

The only problem is when you want to see what you have recorded on the LCD screen the volume is very low other than that i cant fault this faboulous piece of technology by Sony.

I am very impressed with the quality of the video recording you recieve especially when you view it on your computer using real player, it beats spending hundreds of pounds for a camcorder.

It takes AA batteries that are cheap to buy and lasts ages.

You will need a camera case as it does not come with one and some sony memory stick pro duo cards.

The image stabalization is incredible and the picture and video quality is outstanding.

Just so you can imagine how good the video quality is, I can record whatever is on the telly and the display shows it as clear as you see it through your own eyes.

Sound Quality - Not Good
Battery Life - Excellent

excelent camera

Ok i just bought this camera today it is great for £150 out of jessops (very cheap!!) big 2.7" screen (yay!!) excelent quality pictures and videos good zoom , nice small sleek design. i bought in silver wacky sounds for start-up shutter and buttons.
On the whole best camera around

if you want a descent camera and dont want to spend to much money get this camera it is amazing!!

Amazing little camera!!!

I have just recieved this camera as a Christmas present and am extreemly pleased. I wanted a small point and click that I could carry anywhere and that is exactly what I got. Incredibly small, huge display and very easy to use. Docking station is fantastic for charging the battery and transferring pictures to the computer and even attaching directly to the TV!

I couldn't have asked for a better camera and I would definitely recommend (and so would my fiancee who bought it for me after spending hours on the internet looking for the best camera to suit what I wanted!!)
