Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital Camera [6MP, 10x Optical Zoom]

Used Price: £118.95
New Price: £138.00

Review for Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital Camera [6MP, 10x Optical Zoom]:
coolipix s4
I bought this camera from amazon in march, saving around 100 pounds compared to high street price. the photos it takes are perfect, although if you use it in the sun it can get tricky to see the screen. it has lots of clever options, such as panorama assist, sport mode(for photo finishes), firework mode and sunset mode. the zoom is incredible and its easy to use. my lens cap broke about a week after buying it and i still cant find a replacement. im also looking for a case.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50S Digital Camera - Silver (7.2MP 3xOptical Zoom) 3.0" LCD

Used Price: £149.99
New Price: £179.99

Review for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50S Digital Camera - Silver (7.2MP 3xOptical Zoom) 3.0" LCD:
Perfect!!
My Sony Cyber-shot T50 arrived last week (on time - thank you Amazon), and I was ecstatic. Here are the reasons I would recommend the T50:

1. LCD
- I confess, one of the main reasons I bought this camera was because of the 3" screen. I wanted a camera that had a 3" screen minimum, so the T50 was a prime choice. The screen is ample size, and the quality and precision is pefect. I was really apprehensive about the touchscreen being unreponsive, or difficult to use (especially because I have quite stubby fingers). However this was not an issue: the screen is sensitive enough so it reacts well, and stubby figures are no problem.
Screen Rating - 5 stars

2. Picture Quality
- Nowadays, you can purchase 10 megapixel cameras for under £200. It did cross my mind that perhaps 7 megapixels wouldn't be enough, but the quality is excellent. The pictures in fact are so high in quality that the size of them are 2 MB (which is actually slightly annoying - because sometimes I have to resize them to share, which is a bit of a pain.) Other from that, the quality is flawless. Fantastic! I haven't tried the ISO features (because I don't know how) - I'm not really a proper photographer, I just enjoy taking simple pictures (when I go out, on holiday, etc.) The T50 works for this perfectly.
Quality Rating - 5 stars

3. Size
- The T50 is the perfect size - not too big - it can fit in your pocket, but not too small - so it's not fiddly to use. I thought it'd be quite thick as well, but it's not an issue. The size is excellent - it COULD be smaller, but hey - with all the features installed on this, it's not a problem.
Size Rating - 5 stars

4. Attractiveness of Camera
- The camera is very attractive. I personally prefer it in black, but when I bought it the black wasn't on sale so I settled for silver. Silver is still nice, it's stylish and a camera like this will never go out of fashion. The sliding lens cover protects the lens, works as an on/off button and looks good.
Attractiveness Rating - 5 stars

Overall - this camera deserves 5 STARS because it excels in every area.
I really like this device and I'm confident it won't give me any problems (I hope I haven't jinxed it!)
My ONLY criticism is the lack of case - you want a case to protect the screen. Sony don't supply one with the camera, which I feel is a bit of a let-down, but hey. I purchased a leather case from Amazon, which fits snugly and looks good too.

I hope this review has convinced you to buy the T50, as I feel it is a camera well worth the money.

Olympus Mju 600 Blue Digital Camera [6Mp, 3x Optical]

New Price: £117.97

Review for Olympus Mju 600 Blue Digital Camera [6Mp, 3x Optical]:
Olympus perform well again
The olympus Mju 600 blue is a truly stunning camera with a 6 megapixal ccd that will alow the user to enlarge their photos up to a3 size without any lose of quality. The camera has a 3x optical zoom which is now standard on all digital compact cameras. On the reverse of the camera you get a large 2.5inch lcd screen which will alow the user to view back or see the photos they are about to take in crystal clear colour. Mju 600 is weatherproof (not waterproof) if you want to make this camera waterproof for underwater use then a waterproof case will set you back around £200 pounds. The camera comes with around 8mb of internal memory which is not a lot so i recommend you buy at least a 256 mb xd card to allow you to get the most out of the camera. The Olympus mju 600 also features 23 scene modes, which include sports, museum and fireworks these will alow the user to adapt their photo taking to almost any situation. As standard on all new olympus cameras the mju 600 features a fantastic macro mode so if you like taking close up photos then olympus cameras are superb. in The box you will get the camera, a usb cable ( to sync your photos to your pc or mac), a strap, a rechargable battery, a battery charger, olympus master software ( to allowing editing of your photos on the pc), and an instruction manual. I truly love this camera but as usual with digital cameras my only complaints are that the camera does not come with a case or a higher level of memory capacity. if you dont mind buying a case or an additional memory card then this is a stylish weatherproof camera that is extremely easy to use and that most camera users will love.

Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera Body Only Black [6MP]

Used Price: £214.99
New Price: £398.95

Review for Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera Body Only Black [6MP]:
Awesome !!
I am a very amateur photographer who has accumulated masses of photos over the years using 35mm SLRs.

I decided to go down the digital SLR route after using a compact digital camera as I found I could learn and correct any errors very quickly and got to like to see my results straight away .... and to be able to delete the rubbish !.

I"pushed the boat out" and bought the Nikon after doing several weeks of research and price-checking and to say that I am not dissapointed is an understatement. My only one critism is that the camera does not currently come with a data card included.

The camera has a variety of modes for different circumstances and having recently taken it on it's first trip out to the RIAT airshow at Fairford, my shots of the fast-moving aircraft were streets-ahead of anything I have ever managed with traditional film. I suddenly take pictures like a pro and can use the digital technology to share, print, publish etc. with ease.

I do not see how I will ever outgrow this camera and like it's flexibility and set up. It even uses my Nikon and Sigma lenses from my old Nikon 35mm SLR so saves me having to replace my lenses.

All in all I am over the moon with the outcome and can't recommend srongly enough....

Truly an awesome piece of kit and worth every penny .....

Kodak Z710 High Zoom Digital Camera (7.1MP, 10x optical zoom) 2" indoor/outdoor LCD, 32MB internal memory

Used Price: £79.99
New Price: £119.00

Review for Kodak Z710 High Zoom Digital Camera (7.1MP, 10x optical zoom) 2" indoor/outdoor LCD, 32MB internal memory:
Appalling
Now I dont know lots about cameras, but I take a lot of photos and I bought this bundled with a dock printer and I have to say I just took it back. Yes it takes good photos, the zoom range is good etc. But it all pales to one whopping oversight. The flash.
Its just too damn bright, only in bright outdoor conditions can ths camera take good photos, because when its dark, the flash fills everything with the kind of whight light that completely neutralises tone. Say you like the lighting effects in your living room one afternoon and want to capture that atmosphere. Sorry, you cant, the flash removes all other lighting and makes everything ugly, really. And you can forget about portraiture, faces just become completely white, hair looks strangely dirty, and the only real colour you get is the eyes, and that just looks wierd.
Not only that, there are tons of other design flaws with this thing. The size of the flashbulb and its placement on the camera means the optical viewfinder no longer shows you what is actualy there through a lens. Instead, because the pop-up/down flash is in the way, all you get is a tiny version of the big LCD, which is utterly pontless. And the supplied lens cap is useless unless you have a form-fitting case to carry it around it, because it falls off with the slightest knock. Meaning if you put it in a handbag or rucksack it is likely to do so and expose the lens to possible damage that is very expensive to repair.
All in all a terribly designed camera, the technology is good, and it works, but the flaw, as always, is human. The design problems hampering this thing make it impossible to use in even the best conditions. If you are looking for a camera for constant snapping or just casual use, look elsewhere. You'll only find frustration here.

Kodak V610 Dual Lens Digital Camera - Black (6.0MP). The World's Smallest 10x Optical Zoom Digital Camera

Used Price: £159.99

Review for Kodak V610 Dual Lens Digital Camera - Black (6.0MP). The World's Smallest 10x Optical Zoom Digital Camera:
Great design spoiled only by battery power problems
I was given this camera as a present 6 months ago and was initially very impressed especially with the features packed into such a small sized unit. It performed pretty well for the first few weeks. However, over the last few months I have increasingly experienced some of the same problems others have reported e.g. shutting down unexpectedly (sometimes leaving the lens cover open) as well as others such as not charging reliably. I have traced all these to the battery/battery circuit. Kodak do suggest cleaning the battery terminals if some of these symptoms arise. Sometimes this works, but not always. I'm not sure if it is the battery, the battery contacts or the power circuit in the camera. However, there does seem to be a problem relating to this area with some of the V610s. My camera works fine when connected to its mains power supply unit (PSU), which seems to prove the problem relates to running off the internal battery.
Overall the picture quality is very good and the video quality is pretty amazing given the camera size - and you could fill a 2Gb memory card with a one hour-long take if the battery lasted long enough. I accept that sometimes the white/light areas are a bit overexposed, but this can be compensated for to some extent. Also the camera is not brilliant in low light, except for near subjects with flash, and the autofocus hunts when you are at the long end of telephoto (i.e. 10x) - but the Kodak V610 is certainly not alone in this respect. No, overall I would be very happy with this camera if only the battery/power issues did not make it unreliable. I have yet to decide whether it should go back under warranty - but its interesting that these are now hard to get hold of (I wonder why?) - I might just have to keep it and use an external battery supply since there is still nothing on the market to match it.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera [6MP, 3x Optical Zoom]

Used Price: £69.99

Review for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera [6MP, 3x Optical Zoom]:
Fantastic Video!
My first camcorder was a sony hi8. after some time the recording became messy ( lines and other 'dirt' in the video playback). this problem has been fixed by the service center....however it alerted me about the problem with cameras that record on tape. So I set my sights on the digital cameras with movie mode ...to see what they have to offer. Scouting through steves-digicams i came across the sony w30 and the video looked impressive enough. So I bought it.

The day I tested the video function of this camera is the day i realised i really no longer need to buy a 2000USD 3CCD digital video camera in order to get the quality of video I want. It's video is just superb and is just right for my needs...and for only about 200USD! This plus the freedom from problems associated with dirty recording mechanisms.
Bravo Sony!

Shame they didn't check the battery!
My son was all excited to get his camera, only to be bitterly disappointed tha the wrong battery was inside. As it would have to be returned to Germany and he needed it for a school trip, we had to find the correct one.
