I got this purchase right!

After my last disaster of a a camera purchase of a Pentax E10, I was determined to get this right! I did quite a bit of research of review sites and the Canon IXUS 75 kept coming up. I am not disappointed with this camera. It has easy to use functions and really nice features like picking out a 'spot' colour and putting all other colours to greys. I am a graphic designer so like these cool extra features, also the red eye remover function is great for a quick touch up and although a bit crude compared to touching up in photoshop, really can remove the dreaded devil eyes very easily.
It is a very good priced camera and the 3" LCD is really clear.
I would highly recommend this camera for a easy to use point and click camera.

Was going to get three of these.... then discovered they are delivered in a solid gold envelope... they must be for £15 p&p!! What a rip off

great little camera

I bought this camera for my son (but I'm tempted to use it myself!).Great for pictures and also can take really good little videos....he enjoys shooting his own movies.We got a memory card and a case with it, but I only have praise for it and it really is very compact.Would find it hard to find a better camera for the price.

Great

This works great with my Sony DSC-T50. The included adapter is also very useful for connect to my TV. I only hope the price can be similiar to those SD cards!

Very pleased!

Having trawled the internet for days looking for a new camera, I decided to buy the sony dsc w55 having read good reviews on it. Amazon came out top on price so I decided to plunge and go for it along with a case and memory stick. So far so good, it is really easy to use (which is good for me as I am not very technical!) The dial is a really nifty idea, you can change mode in a matter of a second.

Movie file format

I have read the reviews about the battery life and agree 100% with the recommendation to buy rechargeables - the larger the capacity the better. Battery life is fine with these.

The movie file format is .AVI which the latest version of software such as Microsoft PowerPoint will load OK, but PowerPoint 2002 and probably earlier versions cannot load this type of movie file. If this is a major issue with you, do not buy this camera but otherwise it is great performer.

I bought this camera 6 months ago. Got to use it and really it works well.
My only criticism is the size, the matrix buttons (or whatever it's called) as it could have been replaced with a 4 direction pad...
but worst of all, and you can't see that from these shots, is that when you need the flash it pops out before taking the photo but then you have to close it manually. If you leave it out so you can quickly take the next photo, it won't fit in its case.
trust me, go for a Cannon, that's their domain and they're really good at it.
now if you really insist then... mine is for sale :D

When the time came to replacing my older digital camera i was totally amazed by the huge range available but after reading loads of reviews i settled on this little baby !
I must say its a fantastic camera & not overly complicated . I wanted one that took batteries as you can buy them anywhere & never be stuck.The results i've had have been very good , pity i had to go & buy a case separately !

No problems!

Unlike some of the reviews below I've not had a problem with my card at all. It works a treat, and hasn't been a problem with my Fuji F31FD. Fast delivery and no issues to report whatsoever.

You dont need glasses to use this top bit of kit

Before admitting the need for laser eye treatment and having got great results from a Canon compact ixus 500 when I could see without blurr I saw the cashback deal for Nikon and thought I might be able to use a new SLR without having to find my glasses before thinking of taking a picture. Age was the factor in the need for change but for the long-sighted in denial this camera was the answer for me. What a result - something easy to use,readable,substantial in the hand and producing ace photos! Put that with the cashback, the next day delivery and a huge discount via Amazon and before you know it taking pictures is better than it was 10 years ago.

It is very handy camera. Colours could not be that real. Espically indoor shots are almost perfect for this small camera. I definetly see that I have given right desicion to buy this camera. Economic and it does everything what you expect from a compact machine. Nice one... Strongly recommended.

great camera - now even better value

This S5700 slots into the middle ground between point and shoot and digital SLR. You can leave it in auto for point and shoot simplicity or use a whole range of other settings suited to portraits, landscapes, snow, beach, party, museum etc. Plus the usual priority A, S, and full Manual and macro settings. Image quality is good for up to A4 enlargements. In a very compact camera you get the equivalent of 38 - 380 lens, (plus digital magnification X 4, which does degrade the image somewhat). Cables are included for playback through TV and usb connection to PC (I haven't used the latter or the supplied software as I prefer to use my PC's card reader for faster transfer of images).

What I like:
- The price - about a third of what you pay for a digital SLR
- The image quality - the 7 meg is as good as film on standard size prints
- The battery life is good (you can use rechargeable AAs - get at least 2700 NiMH, - easy to carry spares or buy standard AA in an emergency)
- It takes SD as well as Xd cards. Even at high resolution you can get a 1000 frames on a 2 gig card
- The extended control - I can finally get depth of field on a digital without paying D SLR price !
- The large bright LCD screen - excellent
- It takes movies (can't do that on my film SLR!) up to 36 mins on a 2GB card
- Good low light sensitivity - I've got some good looking pictures indoors without flash
- Nice rubbery grip
- When you turn off all the beeps / shutter sounds it is virtually silent in operation
- It will take 46mm filters - suggest you stick a UV one on to protect the lens and improve the image in bright sunlight

What I don't like
X Doesn't include camera case or memory card (has only 27 meg internal memory)
X Still get some noticeable lag between pushing the shoot button and taking the picture but it's better than any digital I've previously used
X The manual focus is fiddly - and not easy to tell when its there
X It's a bit too compact- I actually prefer a bit more camera to grip
X The view finder is poor and not as accurate as the large screen - you would only ever use it in very bright sunlight
X Image stabilisation isn't that great - basically just increases the ISO - so faster but more grainy

So overall I think this is a winning package, it will appeal to old SLR users like me who want the advantages of reasonably priced digital, without having to compromise all creative control. As a multipurpose camera with a x10 optical lens in a very compact package, this is a cost effective solution. Spend a bit more on getting a 1 or 2 gig san disk ultra SD card (other brands may be ok but san disk will definitely work and work fast - this is important if you want to take movies), and you will have a versatile, responsive and rewarding package. After sales 46mm wide angle and x2 and x3 lens are available from the 'bay if you want to extend on what is already a pretty versatile lens range.

At this price you might consider getting the newer S5800 - you get an extra meg on the image and a charger and set of batteries thrown in. Looks cool in silver as well. My suggestion would be to buy the S5700 direct from amazon - at around 100 quid it's an absolute bargain. Go on -you know you want one!

Kodak Easyshare C613 Digital Camera - Black

I was looking for a low cost camera with good quality pictures which was very easy to use. This camera is an excellent choice! Great value, idiot proof to use and looks fab. All the buttons you need to use for simple picture taking are all clearly labelled on the back, and the menu has an info button which explains everything in the menu options so editing pictures on the camera and changing camera settings couldnt be simpler! the camera is small and light, and i got mines in black; it looks very impressive. The internal memory takes just over 10 photos so definately invest in a memory card to make it worth while.

Another belter from Canon

I have been a fan of Canon since owning a 35mm AE-1 SLR in the early 70's (still going strong). The Ixus 950 camera was bought to provide my wife with a replacement for her basic point and shoot Fuji. To be honest, I will be suprised if I can bring myself to let her use it. I am a dedicated SLR enthusiast and My Fuji 6900 has given me brilliant pictures. The prime reason for choosing the the 950 was it at least had a conventional viewfinder so if I had to I would be able to bring myself to use it. The big LCD screen at the back is really good and I have to admit provides a brilliant means of setting up the shots. The number of features are brilliant, but it is also a fantastic point and shoot camera delivering superb high quality results. With a 2GB card on board it promises over 550 images at the highest resolution. Macro features are brilliant and there are some smart little features which are fun to use. I honestly can't fault it.

Nice size but huge very bright screen. Very little shutter lag. Great battery life. Really snazzy with Canon's leather case. Buy one

Just Great

Got this camera from Amazon and gave it to my 10 year old daughter for finishing 11 plus exams. She thinks it is the best thing ever, takes great photos in any lighting, small and very girlie. Battery life great would buy one for myself but can borrow hers.

Sony DSC-W200.CEH Digital Camera (12.1MP) 2.5'' LCD

The design and build are good
The 12mp chip does not really give a better picture quality than an 8mp.
The face detection works well.
The digital smart zoom results are really good
Battery life is average , would recommend a second one.
I do not like the way that sony allows you to access the red eye flash option in the menus when set in the P / M mode although in auto mode with face detection selected the red eye flash is quite clever it operates automatically when a face is detected
When set in auto mode the picture result are good to average but when set in P or M mode excellent results can be acheived.
Would I recomend it ? yes but also take a look at the Fuji alternative.

nightmare DL images from cam to pc

If anyone knows how to DL images from this camera to your PC then PLEASE tell me how! because l have had this camera for months and l cannot DL any images to my PC.

Great camera

I bought this camera to my trave to Spain and I'm very pleased with the results. The quality of the pictures is great. The 10x optical zoom helps a lot.
