Panasonic Lumix TZ10

I own a canon digital slr and found the quality of this camera to be excellent. The HD video is very good. It has its limitations if you are serious about timed exposure-night shots etc. But if you are on holiday and don't want to carry around a couple of bricks for cameras then this is the answer.
The intellegent auto setting is 99% right most of the time.

A good choice for a camera

Panasonic Lumix TZ8 Digital Camera (12.1MP, 12x Optical Zoom) 2.7 inch LCD - Black

After going through some camera reviews, I was drawn mostly to Panasonic Lumix cameras, TZ7, TZ8, TZ10. Reason being that with the economical situation money was tight, so I was looking for a camera with the best value for the money spent. I initially checked Argos, there were offering the Lumix TZ6 for the same price as the TZ7 & TZ8, in which in a review I read explained that the TZ6 has some slight manufacturing problems to do with the lens. However after reading detailed reviews on the TZ7 camera which stated that the controls were poorly placed and the TZ10 camera which is more expensive also has GPS which was said to consume the battery power and has to be switched off when not in use. As a result I chose the TZ8 which was highly rated on Amazon, and I was not disappointed with my choice, it is solidly built with the controls fitting nicely on the camera, and the photos taken came out crystal clear . The only drawback with this camera I could find was there was no manual for quick reference, the manual is CD based, but I think I could live with that

Love it!

Great Camera and such quick delivery. Paid for express delivery and arrived way before the scheduled time, could track it all the way from despatch as well. It's my first SLR and have had lots of good photos out of it so far, really easy to use straight out the box too. Recommend it to anyone for their first SLR too.

not one of panasonics best

Panasonic Lumix FZ100 14.1MP Digital Camera - Black (3.0 inch TFT LCD Display, LEICA DC Lens with 24x Optical Zoom and Full HD Movie)Not one of panasonics best.I dont like the method of getting the instrution manual.Or the lens does seem to have a halo on the edges of the images.As for the view finder,that is a joke.My old Nikon coolpix5400 which is only 5 megapixils gives better definition.If you want a good compact then purchase the Panasonic TZ7,Great little camera,and only half the price

Good buy - Would recommend a friend

I use to own a sony and nikon point and shoot cameras. Now after buying this one, I realise that it is a good jump to learn the basics of a DSLR. Though it is a hybrid camera, the options provided are very responsive.

Would definitely recommend it to a friend who is interested in a advanced digital camera. Worth a spend.

Overall a great amateur camera

A great amateur camera with an impressive zoom and clarity in the pictures.
If you take lots of pictures during an hour or more the camera gets very warm and you'll definitely need a back-up battery.
I had issues with the autofocus and i.e. when you zoom during filming the picture gets blurry for a few seconds.
But overall a lot better than most other compact cameras out there and basically the last step before buying a DSLR camera.

first class dslr beginners camera

i bought this camera only 3 days ago and i have to say its so easy to use , the day i bought it i was out that same night shooting night shots, i have the hs10 and have had some good results with night shots maybe half i shot where usable but with the d3000 only one shot was not usable really pleased with it the clarity is crisp sharp and out standing quality , i am really only a novice and i found it to be so easy to get the hang of it an excellent beginners camera the guide mode is fantastic but to be honest i didn't need to use it , so its a really excellent buy superb quality shot from a very affordable dslr camera first class it may not be to an out and out expert but to a novice like my self the quality picture you get from it speaks for them selves ............excelent

This camera is really good. Ive found it takes good pictures in any lighting and the videos - the main reason I bought the camera - are also very clear. The only thing that is annoying is that you cant see how long you have left on your SD card. Besides that, I love this camera :)

Bizarre battery lock-in

I was on the verge of buying a panasonic camera when I discover that they use id-security batteries. This means that you can only install batteries containing panasonic's own security chip. Frankly I'm disgusted and appalled at this move which is a blatant move to lock-in users to their proprietary batteries. Competition is there to ensure we consumers get good prices and value for money, vote with your credit card, don't buy products with vendor lock-in. Removes any temptation I had to buy what would otherwise be a damn good camera, sigh.

Great Camera - very happy

The problem buying anything like a new camera these days, is that there are so many different versions around, and everyone has an opinion... (and here's mine). Eventually after much research I took a punt on the Panasonic FX 60. I liked the look of it, and it seemed to have all the bells and whistles you could need.

Having used it for around a month now, it's been fantastic. Is it the best camera of its type out there? I have no idea, but you won't be dissapointed if you decide to buy..

Well I'm impressed..

I bought this camera mainly for taking video footage...

After putting a class 4 card in it the video stuttered slightly in 1080p but was fine in 720p. Picture taking was fast and the camera responded instantly to commands though.

Now it has a class 6 in it and this thing is AMAZING! There isn't anything to touch it for the price. 1080p running sweet as...

I must say it's not the 'point and shoot' experience that a camcorder offers, but if you're looking to make short, creative scenes and are prepared to tweak and adjust the various settings throughout then this will not disappoint! This camera is taking amateur filming to the next level.

handbag size, point"n" shoot camera

i have several cameras but all very big and bulky, i wanted a handbag size camera to carry with me every day.....this one is ideal. went for fuji as my other cameras are fuji and already knew the controls etc, take great point and shoot pictures, but the macro facility doesn't get close enough sometimes, ideal first camera for any age, its compact and lightweight

Easy to use for a nine year old

I purchased the Nikon for our nine year old son and I have to say that I am totally impressed with it.
We also bought a Panasonic Lumix at the same time, but the Nikon is much easier to use in terms of the operation of the camera - menus etc.
Thomas managed to take 1250 pictures in the first few weeks of ownership.
Having now downloaded for the first time, I can also thoroughly recommend the picture transfer software.
I pondered whether or not to instal yet another camera makers software on our computer, but I am now glad I did - you see the full file structure almost as if you are in windows explorer. I recommend it - best I've used so far.

All in all for the money this is a great camera!
