Review for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Family Entertainment Edition Interactive DVD Game [Interactive DVD]:
There are options of tackling Adult or Junior 'difficulties', and categories of General Knowledge, Entertainment, and Sport.
Once choosing either Adult / Junior, and the preferred category, the game follows the same format as the TV show (without the fastest finger first, for obvious reasons!).
Unfortunately, Chris only reads the million pound question aloud, and instead there are a bank of phrases between questions that do get a bit irritating.
The repetition of questions is a bit poor I feel - it doesn't take much to think up plenty of questions and put them on a DVD. I couldn't find the total number anywhere, but the DVD quotes an 'extra 1500'. Split across three categories, this may be only 500 per category, and split Junior / Adult, that may only be 250 'extra' questions. Although I have no evidence of this, the repetition of questions suggests there are not a huge number of questions, so the 'extra 1500' may well be clever marketing
All in all, it's a good game to play with the family, but its shelf-life is pretty limited. Getting to a million becomes fairly easy after playing the game for a while as the same questions come up. Disappointing
The addition of being able to cut out all Chris' commentary and increasing the question bank would make this a 5* item as opposed to a 3*

Good, but with annoyances
The game itself is a solid bit of family entertainment, but has two niggles that may reduce its novelty - first, it's not possible to skip Chris Tarrant and his repetitive phrases in between questions. Second, a lot of the questions get repeated, which is a bit of a shame - the bank of questions could do with an increase, or perhaps they should add the option of downloading more and using supplement DVDs.There are options of tackling Adult or Junior 'difficulties', and categories of General Knowledge, Entertainment, and Sport.

Review for A Question Of Sport (BBC) - All New 2008 Edition [Interactive DVD]:
- Firstly the away questions are far easier than the equivalent on TV and with only 3 options available it is easy to guess any you dont know with a reasonable success rate. The addition of the ask Matt is nice, but again makes the away questions even easier.
- Secondly the one minute round is 6 questions of 10 seconds which at times doesnt allow for enough time to read the things before it times you out.
- Thirdly the what happened next and mystery guest that I have seen so far have all be on shows recently so thats two rounds that are a waste if you actually watch the programme.
All in all there have been worse interactive games, but for its pre-xmas price tag it was a rip off really.

A christmas dissapointment
I can honestly say this interactive game was a real let down. It boasts a multitude of rounds in different areas which has some real appeal, but is badly let down in certain areas.- Firstly the away questions are far easier than the equivalent on TV and with only 3 options available it is easy to guess any you dont know with a reasonable success rate. Good value dvd
Bought this for my brothers birthday and a group of us tried it out, thought it was a good laugh and it had a decent range of easy and hard questions. Things moved along quickly enough to keep everyone interested. Thought pub master's voice a nice touch, there's even clinking glasses etc in the background.25

Repeated questions.
Our family own the first edition and this was not as good. After our third game questions started to be repeated. So far only one question has been repeated per game but when it came at a critical point the competition was spoilt. On a more positive note we liked both the picture and choice of junior questions.26

Review for Strike It Lucky - Interactive DVD Game [Interactive DVD]:
I am going to assume that you have watched, and liked,"Strike it Lucky" or"Strike it Rich" from the 1980s and 1990s, and want to play the game as per the TV version.
I'm going to go on at some length. Basically, if you like"Strike it Lucky", you will like this version of the game, especially the multi-player version. However, it is not without its own problems.
The first round involves you going across 8 screens, some of which had prizes in the TV version, and some of which had"Hot Spot"s. Then, you had to answer a question correctly.
The second round involves going across 10 screens, and missing 2-4 Hot Spots, and winning (if you succeed) £1,000-£2,000, or later £2,000-£4,000.
To win control of the board in the first round involves answering multi-choice questions
** Multi-choice questions **
You will be given the option to answer 2, 3 or 4 questions under a given topic.
Once you have selected the number of questions, you will then be shown 6 answers. Once you have correctly identified an answer, that answer will disappear (i.e. you have 6 possible answers for the first question, 5 for the second, 4 for the third and 3 for the fourth).
If you answer incorrectly, the same question will be asked of the next Team, and so on until all of the questions have been asked.
Once all of the questions have been answered correctly, that Team will have 2, 3 or 4 possible moves on the board.
** Moving across the board **
Hidden within each screen is either a Hot Spot, stopping your further progress, or a category for the Jackpot question.
The categories for the Jackpot question are: Sport, Entertainment, People, Places, History and Science.
If you are shown a category and have moves remaining, you can either"bank" the categories and stop, or risk the category shown and progress further across the board.
** Problems with the above **
The questions are not necessarily easy, and there is no skill setting, e.g. you cannot have Team 2 answering children's questions. This is largely a game for adults.
I do not believe that the first screen in the TV game the next screen was ever a"Hot Spot", but it can be in this game.
In the TV series, if Team 1, Team 2 and Team 3 don't get the same question right, Michael abandons the question and moves onto the next one, but not in this version.
If you are playing Team 3, and you are at the final screen, and Team 2 gets asked a question and gets it wrong, in the TV series you would then get asked the Jackpot Question, but in this version you have to continue answering Team 2's questions.
If you have only 3 screens left, you will still be offered the choice of 2, 3 or 4 screens.
** Jackpot Question **
The Jackpot Question is significantly easier than the standard multiple choice questions, e.g."What J.C. invaded Britain in 55 B.C.", and"Matter has three states: Solid, Liquid and what?" (actually, according to QI, matter has 6 states, but never mind that).
** Final round **
You have to get across without hitting more than 3 hotspots - you have no choice as to whether to take 2, 3 or 4 Hot Spots. It's difficult. I would have preferred to have the choice.
When you lose, you do not see the full board as per the TV show, so you do not know whether going"Top" instead of going"Middle" would have made a difference to the result.
** Single player game **
You have to get across the first screen with just 5 sets of questions. Answer 1 question wrong in a set, and you lose all of those moves - and you don't get to find out the right answer. Overall, it's hard.
If you lose, Michael says"No-no-no-no-no. You are not great at this." Thanks(!)
However, well done for creating a single-player version of a game which is essentially multi-player
** Michael Barrymore **
I like Michael Barrymore. I thought he was funny in the TV series, and in Celebrity Big Brother 2006.
However, he is not that funny in this version, and sometimes he's a bit creepy.
He doesn't ask the questions; he is merely the compere, so he introduces the game, and says when it is a wrong answer. When you get an answer right, he doesn't say"Well done" - instead, the next question is shown.
There's not enough new material recorded. For example, in the final round, he repeatedly says"Top, middle or bottom"; it is very easy to get sick of him saying it at this stage.
As a compere, he needs to congratulate a bit more. If you answer correctly the Jackpot Question correctly, there's no"Well done", just"Team 2 and 3, you've lost. Team 1, get ready for the Jackpot Round". Workmanlike.
Finally, the opening screen makes Michael look at if he is a midget; it is scaled badly. The other screens show him in a better light.
** Overall **
Three stars for the single-player version, and four stars for the multi-player version. I would have given it 5 stars had some of the above problems been fixed.

Too easy and so slow !!!!!!!!!
This game is so easy with no option to change the difficulty levels and therefore after playing only once I will not be playing the game again. The real problem is the lack of depth within the game with friends and family becoming bored waiting for their turn to come around. The game also suffers from the usual DVD timelag, which is an unfortunate problem but really spoils your enjoyment of the game. It's unfair to compare this game to Buzz or other PS2 quiz games, but if you do own a PS2 buy a quiz game for that instead and keep the family entertained over Christmas.30
Review for Blockbusters Interactive DVD Game [Interactive DVD] [2006]:
What isn't funny, is the fact that people end up paying money to find out just how poor this game is. What is it with these DVD games anyway!?
Questions that repeat to often.. Okay, so there's a thousand (allegedly) but can't they do something to ensure that repetition is kept to a minimum. My Spectrum version was better than this!
You can't choose where you want to go. What!?! Isn't that half the point... I swea, if people knew in advance what they were buying, they'd have left it on the shelf. There's very basic online versions of Blockbusters that have been around for years that do a better job, and we've just found another version that also features Bob Holness as well (The only good thing about this DVD Game.

Review for British Hit Singles And Albums - No. 1 Music Quiz (Limited Edition) [Interactive DVD]:
Great fun, had a single player game myself before a few of mates turned up and we did a team match (2 vs 2) which was ace! Theres plenty of videos and music clips, and Steve Furst does a pretty good job of keeping things interesting without looking like TOO much of a plonker (most of the time). The kazoo rounds are funny but I think the guy didn't know what song he was supposed to be doing on a couple of em, no way I could guess em!!
There's a 'charades' type round too which was a bit naff at first, but by the time we'd had a few drinks and went back to the game it was suddenly fun and frustrating - if you're not self conscious acting stuff out in front of people you'll enjoy it.
There seems to be lots of questions, only saw one or two repeated but I guess that's just the luck of the draw really.
Oh yeah, word of warning - the single player game is HARD! You have to answer 10 in a row, and theres no lifelines here mate!! Get one wrong, you're out, start again - flipping heck!!!! But apparently there's some 'ultimate question' thing at the end involving lots of digits that you can win prizes with (don't ask me what, I didn't get to see it yet) by texting, which is a nice addition I think! Gonna try for that big TV, hehehhh...
It covers lots of genre's and goes from 50s & 60s right up to date, so anyone has a fair shake at playing - buy it for someone for christmas, then spend all day playing it with them ;)

HILARIOUS !!! BEST QUIZ GAME EVER!!!!
This game really captures the essence of Talksport. With great sports clips & questions mixed in with some fantastic comical clips. The H & J show play"clips of the week" each week. These are the funniest calls & clips from that week. They've managed to mix these into the quiz with some absolute classics. The game play is fast & it's very easy to play. If you get a question wrong or a level the presenters will take the mickey out of you! Loads of questions which means it can be played over & over (& i have!). This will appeal to Sports fans & all the family, as there's enough fun & clips to keep everyone happy. There's plenty of Quiz Games out there but none are as much fun as this one. It was exciting and fast paced.
This DVD is none of that. For a start Bruce is nowhere to be seen and neither is the catchy music used in the programme.
Instead we have a slow plodding game that can only be summed up as boring.
We decided to play it on Christmas day afternoon and gave up after one game.
To make matters worse the narrator of the game sounds as bored as we were.
An attrocious rendition of a classic game and one to be missed at all costs; instead watch the repeats of the real show.

Superb DVD game - The best Family Fortunes yet!!!
The makers of this DVD game have got it spot on. An extremely accurate representation of the show with Vernon Kay helping you to feel as if you are actually there competiting on the show for real. Each team takes it in turns to play two"Single Money" rounds where the team"playing the round" writes down the most likely 5 popular answers for the question asked. At the same time the team"not playing the round" writes down a steal answer should the"playing" team reveal an answer on the board that they dont have written down. There is also a"Viewers Question" where you are given multiple choice from 3 answers to try and determine which is likely to be the most popular. Following this is"Double Money" (same as Single Money but for double the points) and finally"Big Money" where (and this differs from the real show) both teams compete, quickly writing down there answers to the five questions that Vernon Kay reads out hoping to find the top answer.
Overall, superb fun and the best DVD game that I have played to date - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!.
