A bit pants really

Was really looking forward to this but like the Indiana Jones movie disappointment followed. The challenges move to quickly for the DVD remote to keep up. Fair play you can use the PC but a family that gathers around the computer for an evenings entertainment really needs to buy a board game!!
When it works this game is OK but for an extra few quid you can have the Scene it version of the game which is much better and with more replay value.

Its OK for a night in on your own

I was dissapointed with this game. We played it over christmas, where we divided 8 people into 2 teams and was dissapointed that the same question was given to both teams, and yes the 2nd team get to know the first teams answer before they answer. So a big problem there.

Secondly the game play is quite slow, it takes 30 seconds or so to sometimes move to the next question or round.

The questions were good and the product cheap, which is why I have given it 2 stars.

A very good and entertaining DVD

There are five rounds to this DVD:

1. Soaps,
2. Comedy,
3. Cartoons (which includes puppetry and things like Trumpton),
4. Reality TV, and
5."Boost or Bust".

The first four rounds have five questions. The first two and the second two are usually (but not always) on the same subject. The clips are sometimes helpful in answering the question, and sometimes they are superfluous.

The fifth question in the first four rounds is the identification of a TV show from a picture. However, only 1-5 of the 12 segments which make up the picture are revealed (one for each question answered correctly in the round, plus one).

The fifth round contains up to five questions. Answer one question wrong, and that's the end of the round. However, you may"Swap" one question of your choice with a sixth question if you so chose.

At the end of the game, you will have a score out of 25, and that's the end.

It's a game for one or two teams, answering Adult or Kids questions. The difference seems to me to be that Kids questions start in the 1980s (approximately).

Presentation-wise, this appears to be as good as a DVD can get. I would liked to have had more variety of Noel, but there is sufficient - and of course, more Noel would probably mean fewer questions.

It's not as hard as the Telly Addicts show - in my third attempt, I got 24 out of 25 questions correct (and no, there were no repeats when I played it).

Overall, if you want a television-question show (and this is television, not films - and largely British television), then this is probably the one for you - at least until the next version comes along.

ENJOYABLE

The concept is good - the games are fun - and even the hologram of Sir Terry is very real ! Pity there are no faces to the panel who're helping you. Nonetheless, well worth buying !!

Joe Pasquale. The Squeaky Voiced Wonder does it again!

Well, what can I say. I was bowled over by this awesome interactive digital versatile disc. I bought this game the other day thinking `oh it's just *another* of these ever popular"iDVD's" that pop up EVERY Xmas, but OH HOW WRONG WAS I?

For a start, you get a dazzling introduction hosted by the one AND only - Joseph Pasquale, and I have to say, his acting is absolutely stunning.
If there was a BAFTA for `finest vocal performance in a Gameshow iDVD` then `The Joe` would walk it...Easily.

The excitement continues to grip you as you play the actual game. You mainly have to guess how much a tub of bleach or some pearl necklaces might cost you in order to reach the many varied yet rather hectic mini games, climaxing in the grand finale where you can win holidays, cars and Jet Ski's. It's nice to see the actual male/female models used in this section - giving the overall product a real air of authenticity.

Well Done! A wonderful game and DEFINITELY one for all the family!

Not as good as I thought it would be

My 8 year old Son is rapidly becoming a Marvel fan (thanks to me!) and I thought this would be a good game for us to play. Problem is even on the easy level it's way too hard for his limited knowledge. On top of this, other than in the menus, it's silent. It would have been nice to have some sort of atmospheric music to jolly you along while playing.

Not a bad game and nice artwork but overall a wee bit disappointing....aimed more at us"grown ups" than kiddies.

dvd not working

Dont know if anyone else has experienced problems with this dvd . I brought my copy on weds from Virgin megastore and it seems that on the question page it highlights the arrows to go either on to the next question or to ask the current question again - but does not allow me to scroll up and down the answers /pick the answers . I have tried it on two different dvd playes now and still the same prob . Wondered if anyone had any ideas what I'm doing wrong ???

Brilliant interactive DVD

Having played the card game for many years I was wondering what the DVD could offer and it didn't disappoint. The video content really makes it and brings it to life. Particulary good to see some classic action from some of the legends. Very enjoyable, and the free pack is really good too.

Incorrect Answers on the DVD!

I've just GOT to vent my utter frustration! I got the"Now That's What I Call Music Quiz - The Ultimate Ineractive Music Quiz For All The Family On DVD". And nearly lost the bloody game by losing SIX - yes you heard it SIX POINTS on the the following question.

In What Year Did Abba win the Eurovision Song Contest?

It was a multiple choice question, so I had to take A, B, C, or D.

And now for the bit that really got me going! These were the answers offered:

A 1975
B 1976
C 1977
D 1978

???? WHAT????? Everyone knows that it was 1974!!!! Yet that year wasn't even offered as a possible answer!

So, seeing that this is a DVD game and you can't really argue your point with a DVD, I went for the nearest year and chose 1975... and it said"Unlucky!" and I went back 3 places instead of going forward 3. SIX BLOOMIN' PLACES!

So obviously this DVD thinks that Abba won in 1976, 1977 or 1978 - at the height of their career! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

If there is a picture question where bits of the picture are revealed until you guess the artist, then it was always either:

Pink Floyd or Queen - for 60s and 70s
Kelis or Atomic Kitten - for 2000s
Boy George or Culture Club - for the 80s
And a few different ones for the 1990s.

I'm guessing that whoever compiled this expensive waste of time had his or her 'era' in he 1990s. That would also explain why there were three 1980 fields, three 1990 fields and three 2000 fields - but only one field where the 60s and 70s were thrown in together. And then the answer was probably pink floyd... oh, yeah - or some ficitious year that disinterested and just-out-of-school compiler thought Abba 'may' have won the Eurovision Song Contest.

I highly recommend this DVD if you like more elaborate ways of throwing away money and like to get yourself all worked up. LOL.

A great day or night at the races for all family and friends

This is a great dvd for hosting your own racenight in the comfort of own home. 30 races from 2006 are presented here with money pack, marker and betting slips included. Long playability as results will be forgotton of real races and commentary from Derek Thompson, the voice of channel 4 racing. Frankie introduces each track, shows you how to bet. Dvd also includes a highlight package of Frankie's magnificent 7 at Ascot. Even if results are known, you can just act as bookie and banker and invite different people around or even take to the pub for a racr night.

It's alwight.

Plays just like the t.v version but beware,the questions are difficult and the youngsters in particular will struggle with the answers and just end up guessing,which i felt detracted from the game a little.
Plays better in the multi player mode because the questions are passed between teams until the correct answers are found,unlike single player mode when you only get one chance at the question.
The final round is fun as you get to pick top,middle or bottom trying to get across the screen without hitting the hot spots.
Should be a great game to play at a family party when you may get a few more brainboxes on your'e team,but playing with just my wife and two young children,i found it was only 'alwight'.

This is a great dvd game. It has loads of clips from the past and newer ones too, so everyone in my family was happy remembering them. A really good quiz. They should bring TOTP back.

Terrible...

The Countdown DVD game which I received for Christmas is so bad I have played it twice. The whole idea of NOT having the letters up on the screen and the terribly scripted parts where there is chat between the pressenters proves that the people who made it have no idea how Countdown works, or maybe they just don't care.

And it wouldn't have been so bad had they taken time on the graphical edge of it. But no, even they are apalling. They don't use the set and the bits inbetween rounds where Des states words that could have been allowed is so brief it gets annoying.

If they ever make a second edition, they should start from scratch and work on a game that would actually be worth buying instead of just rushing to get a rubbish game out for the Christmas rush.

Great Memories

This is one of the best DVD games I have brought and I play it a lot. I enjoyed Telly Addicts when it was on TV and I enjoy playing this game. It's great fun and entertaining.
