My daughter likes this DVD. The good thing about it is that it teaches counting from 1 to 10. Also the fact that it reinforces the numbers helps. Introduction to addition, subtraction has also helped my daughter at school. She loves the duckies song.86

Put simply, even a modern high spec DVD can't react fast enough to play this sort of game. As others have commented it is difficult to play many of the challenges as the cursor doesn't keep up, presumably as the processor can't do the jumps betweem DVD chapters fast enough. When you get to 'the way of the warrior' (the climax of the trials) it fails to respond almost completely.
Tried it on a very high speed PC DVD drive and using keyboard and mouse - a bit better but still poor.
Verdict: good idea but badly executed. It will dissapoint a generation used to seemless graphics and fast gameplay, and is almost unplayable in places. There is sure to be a PS2/gamecube/DS etc spin off - wait for that!

Great TV show... but the game is poor
My kids and all their classmates are completely hooked on Raven and this was a much begged for Christmas gift. It started well, a suitably stirring intro by Raven, character selection , then into the game...... and then it started to go wrong.

From when you first start playing and you can find out which pirate from the film you most resemble to the really involving gameplay the whole family were engrossed right up until the end. THe questions were fair and sometimes difficult sometimes not, the premise of being in the 3rd film and needing to find Governor Norrington was great.
In fact my only complaint would be that i would have won if it hadn't been for my son shooting a cannonball at me on the final round that caused me to miss a go!
If you love Pirates of the Caribbean and you need a good family game this Chritsmas this is it!

All the family can play
This must be the best DVD Game ever made. Imagine, they ask the panel"BLANK-dog" and they would often come up with something completely bizarre like"carrot-dog", making it a bit pointless trying to go for the most common answer!
We'll never bother playing it again.
On the whole from my experience DVD interactive games are terrible - slow, frustrating and a complete waste of money... I recommend getting"Buzz" on the Playstation instead, it's utterly fab!!

Disappointing!
It's such a shame but we were really disappointed with this dvd game. Terry is a little gem, as always, but the game play is a bit naff (this seems to be dvd games in general however).It's a bit slow, and the answers given by the (unimaginitively named) imaginery panel are just not realistic at all! Beat The Geek- Best DVD Game So Far?
I have played a lot of these so called DVD games in the past and i was very annoyed by the lag and/or poor production values. So tentiveley i rented Red dwarf beat the geek as i didn't want to splash out. Apprenhensively i loaded it in my dvd player. The first thing that hits me is the production values. Being my favourite tv show i still didn't think they could of made a playable dvd, but this is it. The loading times are next to nill the range of questions for both red dwarf fan red dwarf geek and general knowledge are even, and its a genuine delite to play. The only criticism is the comments from the holly's get a bit repetitive after a few plays through however only so much can be recorded definitley one for all fans of the red dwarf and one for you non fans as well, excellent value for money.
