Review for Sex and the City: The Movie:
but sex and the city was an absolute must.
I have heard bad reviews and all i can say is they are deadly mistaken.
The plot is original and features the fantastic appeal it always has, Brilliantly funny, Deeply emotional.
Worried about the change from a TV series to movie, well sex and the city does this in an amazing way.
All i can say now is cannot wait to see it again!!!!

A poor mans Mighty Boosh
My title says it all, the first thing that struck me about this series was its lack of actual comedy. Its yet more joke free comedy show that is very popular only because its trendy to like it. This actually makes the office look funny. Do yourself a favour and buy some series of the mighty boosh, spaced or black books and leave this well alone.24

Review for The Chronicles Of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe [2005]:
Having never read the book but heard rave reviews, I was intrigued to see this film and wasn't to be disappointed.
In a magical fairytale for the whole family, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe has something for everybody, the mystical adventure for the younger generations, and a few good characters and experienced ideologies for adults.
A question mark hovers over the acting but with first performances it is understandable.
Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton) is excellent as the witch, her cold personality and the character epitomizes the true essence of evil, which is what the story follows.
Good vs evil is often very obvious, which is the case here with the golden spirit of Aslan and the cold white heart of the witch, giving the film good balance.
The writing and mystery behind Narnia is very good. The sheer imagination of a wardrobe containing a magical kingdom is a good enough reason to go and see the film and is well established by Andrew Adamson. Though not the best direction, it gets the required effect.
I'm not a huge lover of CGI being a person for realism in context and etc. There is no question that the work that has gone into creating all the creatures and scenery is outstanding. But I'm personally not a fan of it, but if you do like it, then this is CGI at its peak.
Apart from a few lapses in the story and pretty bad acting, it is an enjoyable fun film for the whole family.

enjoyable family fantasy adventure
In their first major career roles, Georgie Henley (Lucy) Skandar Keynes (Edmund) William Moseley (Peter) and Anna Popplewell (Susan) star in this C.S Lewis adaptation about their characters finding a magical world in the back of a wardrobe.Having never read the book but heard rave reviews, I was intrigued to see this film and wasn't to be disappointed.

Review for Enchanted [2007]:
The story sees the evil queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) deviously plotting ways to stop her nephew - the prince from meeting his true love. Giselle (Amy Adams) encounters the prince and on her wedding day is tricked by the queen, and finds her self transported from the animated fantasy world of Andalasia to the real-life city of New York. She befriends a divorce lawyer and his daughter who takes this confused fairytale princess into their lives. The rest is a funny sequence of mishaps and magical elements as Giselle tries to adapt to real-life whilst the Prince is amusingly trying to track her down.
A fun filled family movie that brings out a magical"Disney style" smile.

Disney animation comes to life
Disney fantasy comes alive (literally) in this animated masterpiece that transforms into a real-life movie with some added CGI cuties. This is all in all a typical Disney movie; the feel, the sound, the songs and the plot. But what makes this heart filled comedy special is the contrast between the happy sweet life of a fairy tale story and the reality of life in the city of New York. The story sees the evil queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) deviously plotting ways to stop her nephew - the prince from meeting his true love. Witty, funny, scary and unpredictable which is so different for American tv series, highly recommended but watch out-we had to take day off work to watch the remaining episodes it was so addictive!!! Never thought you might really like serial killer and do not want him to be caught or discovered.FANTASTIC!!!

Review for Heroes - Season 2 - Complete [2007]:
i have only seen the first seven eppies(to date)so i can't review the season as a whole BUT from what i have seen it is heading in the right direction...shame Ali Larter (Niki/Jessica)has been lacking in scenes as she is an interesting character...i still love Hiro and Matt is turning into a great character...Claire is also a very down to earth person whom people can still relate to and Noah Bennett remains unpredictable(is he bad or good?)...just want to know where they're going with Peters character and where the show is going in the future.

Review for Futurama - The Beast with a Billion Backs [2008]:
Whilst I'd never wholly condemn anything with Matt Groening's name on the masthead - even at his worst, he's still head and shoulders above-the competition - there are several rather baffling aspects of 'BWABB' that rather impeded my enjoyment: First of all, the continuity of the last eight years has rather broken down here:- Nibbler's race seemingly no longer exists; For the sake of a single gag, we find out that Bender apparently has a house and family in the suburbs: The pointless subplot, about Benders membership of the 'League Of Robots' -a supposedly revolutionary group who in fact sit around quaffing brandy and smoking cigars in the style of a British gentlemen's club - baffled me completely, as I couldn't grasp at all the satirical/parodic point that someone was obviously trying to make. Most of all, however, the film simply has too few jokes and too little story to justify it's 90 minutes running time:It's padded out with many, many superfluous scenes - One could quite easily edit this into a 25 minute episode without losing any of the plot. I'll be buying the next Futurama movie in October, no doubt, but I don't think this one will be getting put into the DVD player very often.

Too few laughs, too much padding.
The crack in space created by Bender after his Big Score allows a multi-tentacled planet-being to invade our universe, wherepon it 'mates' with every living being. When everyone decides to join the creature in paradaisical bliss in it's own universe, a jealous Bender goes into action..Whilst I'd never wholly condemn anything with Matt Groening's name on the masthead - even at his worst, he's still head and shoulders above-the competition - there are several rather baffling aspects of 'BWABB' that rather impeded my enjoyment: First of all, the continuity of the last eight years has rather broken down here:- Nibbler's race seemingly no longer exists; For the sake of a single gag, we find out that Bender apparently has a house and family in the suburbs: The pointless subplot, about Benders membership of the 'League Of Robots' -a supposedly revolutionary group who in fact sit around quaffing brandy and smoking cigars in the style of a British gentlemen's club - baffled me completely, as I couldn't grasp at all the satirical/parodic point that someone was obviously trying to make. Review for Rambo [2007]:
So the film, let's just say it isn't the longest. At less than 90mins it barely qualifies as a film, last episode of lost was longer. Aside from that the film is quite good.
The stealthy, 'kill them with your bare hands' stuff is back and it didn't disappoint. The scene of him ripping out a man's throat with his bare hands was a true testament to what John Rambo does. He kills people and he kills his fair share in this film.
In a film like this we want lots of killing. Well, it delivers, I think the death count is 200+ with hand full being slaughtered in the first 5 mins. As expected Rambo dispatches many of him victims using his trusty knife and the bow and arrow, which is very cool. Is it wrong that I really want buy a bow and arrow now?
The fact that the biggest action scene involves Rambo stood on the back of a jeep, on top of a hill annihilating the enemy with a 50cal (Big machine gun for those not in the know), was quite disappointing. While the effects and the hundreds of detached limbs flying around my TV were impressive I yearned to see him actually getting stuck in amongst the battle, similar to Rambo III. For a final action scene it just seemed to lack imagination, it almost felt as though the production team had either run out of ideas or lost interest."Stick him on top of the hill with the big gun, that'll do". Had this been different maybe it would have got 5 stars instead of 4.
All in all the film was well worth watching. It was always going to struggle to live up to the hype, it's Rambo for gods sake! Aside from the length and the final action scene the film was a pleasure to watch.
Sly has captured the character of John Rambo perfectly and it almost seems as though he never left.

Finished?....Already?!
First things first. What ever Stallone has been taking to get that big, get me some! The guy's forearm is bigger than my leg. Review for The Golden Compass [2007]:
I'm aware that Pullman is immensely popular and his books have been analysed both philosophically and scientifically, so there must be more to them than is apparent here.
The film poses far too many unanswered questions. It was not clear what the"daemons" represented (free will? conscience? Not a literal"soul", surely.....Pullamn is reputedly an atheist) or why it should be considered necessary to separate the children from them. What was the agenda behind the Magisterium's plans? Their world seemed pretty pleasant to me! And how did Daniel Craig's character escape? One minute he's surrounded and outnumbered, the next he's shown holed up somewhere remote, experimenting in a laboratory. We're told"he escaped", but that's really sloppy scripting. Why is Lyra so special, and why does Mrs Coulter behave as she does? What, exactly, is the point of the whole story? Why should we care?
The film (obviously in full expectation of a sequel) finishes virtually in mid-story. Very annoying. I'm not surprised that most Pullman fans seem disappointed with the whole thing. This non-Pullman-fan, expecting something with depth and imagination, was disappointed too

What's it all about, then?
I came to The Golden Compass without any expectations, having never read any of Philip Pullman's books. And what did I get? A visually beautiful film (hence the three stars) but one that is fundamentally unsatisfying.I'm aware that Pullman is immensely popular and his books have been analysed both philosophically and scientifically, so there must be more to them than is apparent here.

Review for Heroes - Season 1 Complete [2006]:
How it gets you? Every episode has a cliff hanger at the end, many of which are rather good and make you crave the next episode. However, the beginning of each episode has the most contrived, awful and unsatisfying cliff hanger resolution known to man.
Predictable: Watch the first 5 episodes and write down what you think will happen, but be sure to make it as bland as possible - you'll probably be right.
This show has a great potential, but the writers/creators are just not talented enough to make it work like it should. It could be GREAT. instead it's a mediocre TV show which treats it's viewers like 5 year olds.
Aside from CSI, this show has the worst writing in TV I've seen in a long time.
I'd recommend against buying very much. You'll never watch it more than once, and could hurt someone in your acts of unsatisfied destruction against the box set.
p.s: Google the creator. He apologised about the quality of the show. That says it all.

Brilliant
I knew a lot of people who had watched this and gone on and on about it so I thought I would get involved. It is brilliant!! The characters are all excellent....from the bent cops to the drug dealers. They jump off the screen at you and leave you wanting to know what is going to happen next. I bought series 2 and 3 and have just finished series 2. Someone said the show needed subtitles...when was that??? Maybe you need to clear out your ears and listen...this is a top show with some excellent actors in it.36

Review for Black Books Complete Box Set:
From start to finish Black Books does not disappoint. As with anything there are some episodes which are stronger than others but there is always something to laugh at, whether it just be the terms of endearment that Bernard calls poor MannyMoo. The characters are larger than life and their relationship, as with that of next door neighbour Fran, is a complete riot. The way they talk to each other spawning many a new phrase between me and my friends.
There are so many fantastic episodes, Manny's fear of 88 degrees, The children's book, where Bernard gets locked out of the shop for the night all laugh out loud comedy gems. Also the quotes: 'Bernard I ate your bees', 'It's hot inside the worm', 'The wiggle of Judas', 'The Little Book of Clam' and Fran's singing with an Irish accent are worth buying the boxset alone.
I mithered a friend of mine to by this set for weeks, eventually he gave in and bought it. I got an email from him saying he had to space out the episodes as he didn't want it to end! Praise indeed. It's a shame that there were only 3 series but it doesn't make it any less essential for anyone who loves to laugh.
Spend your 'leatherbound pounds' on this and enjoy!

Bernard Black is God!!
How did I never watch this when it was on TV? Why did it take one very drunken/hungover weekend with someone who owned the boxset to introduce me to the best comedy show I think I have ever seen? A show that no matter how many times you see it it always makes you laugh! I have to admit that I am ashamed of myself for not realising the sheer brilliance and genius of Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey until now. From start to finish Black Books does not disappoint. Review for Battlestar Galactica: Razor [2007]:
For fans of BSG"Razor" is a welcome addition to the DVD collection. It fills out the"side story" of Admiral Cain and the Battlestar Pegasus, and goes some way (not all the way) to explaining why she acted the way she did. The production style and dark gritty atmosphere were typical"BSG" and it was interesting to see the"old style" Cylons and ships, familiar to viewers of the original series, popping up in the obsolete and ostensibly abandoned Cylon base. It ended on a teasing note that will certainly whet the appetite of those who have just watched season 3 for the developments of season 4.
My only complaint: even for a fan it's a bit pricey for what you get.
Those who have not been following"BSG" are likely to be totally lost; certainly they will miss most of the nuances and the plot aspects relevant to the story arcs of the main series. They should avoid"Razor" and instead go and buy the mini-series so they can get orientated and hooked.

Review for Battlestar Galactica: Razor [2007]:
For BSG fans (not for others)
The current re-imagined and updated"Battlestar Galactica" is, in my opinion, the best sci-fi series currently on air. Its sweep, the depth of its storylines, the characterisation and acting, the ability to create societies that are both alien and familiar at the same time, above all its ability to hold interest and provoke thought - there is nothing to match it, and there hasn't been for a few years. (I was a great fan of"Firefly" but wouldn't see these two series as going head-to-head,"Firefly" had its own universe and its own, very different, strengths.)For fans of BSG"Razor" is a welcome addition to the DVD collection. It fills out the"side story" of Admiral Cain and the Battlestar Pegasus, and goes some way (not all the way) to explaining why she acted the way she did. Review for The Godfather Trilogy: Remastered Collection - Limited Edition Steelbook [1971] (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
Buy it while you can!
The movies speak for themselves; Part I & II are classics, and the much maligned part III is still good in it's own right but obviously not in the same league as the first two. However get this limited"steelbook" edition while you can as it's very cool. I wondered how they were going to get all 5 discs into a slimline case but they managed it! Discs 1-3 are the movies. It's worth noting that Part II is now all on 1 disc, whereas previously the film was spread across 2 discs. Disc 4 is all of the extras from the last boxset, and disc 5 is the all-new supplementary material. I already owned the previous boxset so wasn't sure if it was worth"double-dipping" for this release. However if you factor in the restored prints, new extras, Part 2 on being on 1 disc, the cool steelbook design, and a very reasonable price I'd say it's worth getting.the TOP 10 DVD Boxsets, the TOP 10 Exclusive DVD Boxsets, the TOP 10 Doctor Who, the TOP 10 Farscape, the TOP 10 Stargate SG-1, the TOP 10 X-Files, the TOP 10 Sports, the TOP 10 Science Fiction & Fantasy, the TOP 10 Cult Series, the TOP 10 Television & Documentary, the TOP 10 Food & Drink, the TOP 10 Action & Adventure, the TOP 10 Star Trek, the TOP 10 Children's DVD, the TOP 10 Disney, the TOP 10 Classics, the TOP 10 Comedy, the TOP 10 Drama, the TOP 10 Horror & Suspense, the TOP 10 Musicals & Classical, the TOP 10 Music DVDs, the TOP 10 Adult DVDs, the TOP 10 UMD Universal Media Disc, the TOP 10 Fitness, the TOP 10 Anime, the TOP 10 Interactive DVDs, the TOP 10 World Cinema, the TOP 10 The Simpsons, the TOP 10 James Bond, the TOP 10 C.S.I.

"You're Never Alone With A Mobile Phone ..."
Five series in now and, for me, the Peep Show is still the best thing on British television. After 4 seasons, nevermind 5, you might expect a slight dip in quality, as everything you love about the show slowly fades and the brilliant characters become caricatures. Thankfully, this hasn't happened and the latest batch of episodes is as funny as ever.No other show makes me scream the house down with laughter or has at least 20 memorable quotes per episode, but this isn't what makes The Peep Show so special. You fall in love with the show because you relate so strongly to the plight of these two young men, as they try to make their way through the trials and tribulations of love and life in modern Britain. Mark is reserved, inhibited and uptight, while Jeremy says and does all the things we wished we had the nerve to say and do. The two main characters may be very different, but they both, in turn, reveal all the anxieties and insecurities that plague us when we try to get on in life and/or find someone to settle down with. They drag these neurotic grey areas of life into the light with intelligent, insightful and downright hysterical dialogue and secret narrated thoughts ... and THIS is what makes the show special.
