Stunning!

This blu-ray disc is simply stunning. It appears more of the footage is in HD than on Planet Earth and it shows. Some of the underwater footage, the resolution and the colour takes your breath away. An absolute bargain for 150 minutes of wonder - well done BBC.

bad,bad,bad!!!

first of all, i cant believe someone from the studios that made this,watched it and said"yep, thats great, i can see everything in perfect clarity,lets send it out on dvd!"
all the action takes place in practically 95% blackness. you cant see diddly at all.as for the story-its pants.as for the acting.... well, it certainly wont get a blue peter badge,let alone an oscar. in short-save your money!!

Stunning quality

If you own the DVD version and are worried you are wasting money, dont. The transfer on this is perfect and worth the investment.

Wonderful!

Thinking about it, I'm not quite sure why I like `Juno'. Nothing really happens, the story is pretty much non-existent and there are no real standout moments, but yet it is still one of the most heart-warming and enjoyable films I've seen for ages.

It's all about a teenage girl named Juno MacGuff who falls pregnant after a night with her friend Paulie Bleeker. Not wanting to keep the baby herself as she feels she is too young, she looks into putting up for adoption with a young and rich couple named Vanessa and Mark.

The film is very well made with some funny moments, some sad, some quite serious. I imagine dealing with teenage pregnancy is a very tough situation so it was nice to see the film makers put a comic spin on various different difficult scenarios. The characters are all fantastic from the rebellious and confused outcast Juno to the loveable and innocent Paulie, to the understanding Dad and step-mom of Juno and the excitable and impressionable best friend. Each part of the film is based in a different season (starting in Spring) and goes through the various stages of the pregnancy.

The Blu Ray transfer is excellent with really impressive picture quality, mainly because a majority of the film is shot in the daytime, so there is plenty of colour and bright, sharp images.

Overall if you enjoy films like Little Miss Sunshine you will love this. I was expecting it to be another American teen movie like Knocked Up or something equally as dull but was pleasantly surprised to see that this was actually something very different which made a refreshing change. Highly recommended to audiences of all ages (over the age of 15, of course!).

Great for a Blu-ray newbie

Having just invested in Blu-ray technology I wondered what disc to start with. I thought natural history would be a sensible initial investment. I was not wrong. The HD of 'EARTH' certainly delivers and the colours and fine detail are worth the investment. I heartily recommend it.

Great movie and fantastic Blu-ray

I love this movie and think Ron Perlman is the perfect Hellboy. I loved the story, all of the special effects and, especially, the cast.

The Blu-ray is equally fantastic; the picture quality and lossless PCM soundtrack are amazing. This is a definite A+, must have Blu-ray if you like this movie.

I imported this to the US and it plays on US players (it is encoded for all regions) so if you cannot wait for the US release later this year and want a sure thing, great import this is a great one.

The Observer

A ridiculous rendering of the ancient world, 300 is a version of the Battle of Thermopylae, in 480BC, where the eponymous 300 Spartans under King Leonidas (Scottish actor Gerard Butler impersonating Sean Connery) confront the massed Persian army of King Xerxes (Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro). They are got up to resemble the doormen at an upmarket body-piercing salon.

It's based on a graphic novel and the dreary settings are generated by computers. From first to last, it's an orgy of bloodletting as the death-dealing, death-loving Spartans kill the Persian envoys and then fight off wave after wave of invaders until they're betrayed by a monstrous humanoid out of Lord of the Rings. The Spartan soldiers, carrying shields like dustbin lids and spears like park railings, have shiny rippling bodies, wear black leather Speedos and short red cloaks, and seem to be responding to an invitation to a fancy-dress party at a gay New York club that reads: 'Come as your favourite ancient Greek [we'll provide the Trojans].'

One of my favourite movies ever

'The Departed' stars Jack Nicholson as Francis"Frank" Costello, an Irish mob boss in Boston. The police are trying to build a case up against him and plant an undercover cop, William Costigan Jr (Leonardo DiCaprio) into his team to give them tip-offs on his actions and whereabouts. Frank has also got an informant in the police named Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), who gives them tips on what the police are up to and diverts their actions from catching Frank. When both sides of the law realize the situation, Costigan and Sullivan attempt to discover the other's true identity before being found out themselves.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite films of all time. Scorsese is one of the best directors ever with such classics as Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York, Cape Fear, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver (I could go on) but The Departed is definitely the best he has ever directed. The story is so tight and extremely tense with some real edge-of-your-seat moments, especially when each side realises there is a rat on the teams. It's also very fast paced and for a two and a half hour film it doesn't get slow or boring for a second as there are just so many great characters and so much going on.

There's also so many top actors in this film as well with the likes of Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Ray Wintston and Anthony Anderson all of which give possibly their best performances of their careers.

The Blu Ray quality is one of the best I've ever seen and highly recommend paying the bit extra to watch it in HD as it looks so much better than on the upscaled DVD version.

Overall this is one of the best films ever and would definitely be in my top 10 films of all time. It's the kind of film I could watch and then at the end watch it again as it is just so good. This is one film that is at the highest standard for everything - story, acting, direction, sound, picture and is just an absolute 10/10 masterpiece.

Terrible...

What a terrible movie. I loved the first 2 films but this was a giant let down.

They should have just focused on Sandman and not tried to juggle 3 villains at once. Venom is the biggest disappointment, they absolutely wasted that character (and storyline), I would have preferred it if they had saved Venom for a later film instead of trying to shoe horn him in.

I won't spoil the plot for anyone but let's say this film has possibly the worst use of Deus Ex Machina ever. It involves a butler for those who have seen it and wonder what I'm talking about.

Best Picture Quality

Previously I own the DVD version of this film. Few days ago I bought a SONY BDP S300 player. I choose"Tears of the sun" for my first Blu ray DVD. Picture quality is amazing. God I love Blu rays

An amazing film and blueray, simply the best !

Wow .. what an absolutly stunningly buitifull film ratatouille is ! The story is as meaningfull as it is funny and will have you laughing and crying at the same time ! The visuals are amazing and the hi-def animation is a wonder to just watch ! but luckly for us we have ears so we can hear the awsom surround sound that this film offers as well. Disney have realy out done them selves with the quality of this blueray and I found my self on many occasions just pausing the film so i could walk up to my screen and just look at the detail !! which on occasion is just daw dropping !
The extra features are, as usual from disney plentafull, very well thought out and give you plenty of things to watch and play with.
You must buy this film, not doing so is doing yourself, your hi-def telly and your bluray player an injustice ! This is what HD was made for !

Great action, bad script

I know the acting is awful and I gave up trying to understand the plot ofter 6 mins. However at 11 mins there's a crazy action sequence that hooked me in. After that you get more exposition then more and more action of the most spectacular variety, so much so that I was almost up out of my seat cheering. It looks great and sounds great and I thoroughly loved it. I'm only knocking off one star for the script and acting because quite honestly the action was so good that I didn't care about the rest one bit. Stunning and hilarioulsy bad by equal measures.

What languages and subtitles?

If anybody knows what languages and subtitles it has, please write. Is it in Polish language?

Could have been better

I'll keep this short and say that this film could have been so much beter and felt un finnished and rushed, almost in the same way daredevil did, a good no brainer film dont get me wrong but with so many comic book adeptation movies springing up nowerdays this one will unfortunatly fall below the radar. As a Blueray though this does offer very good picture quality and sound but only a small smattering of extra features which are only in standard def you might feel short changed. Get this if you was a fan of the comics or nic cage but think twice if you are not as there is better out there.

Great film for everyone

When it started, I was squirming in my seat, the opening sequence was so sweet and sickly. However, I soon got into it and appreciated the way Disney was laughing at itself.

The visuals are great, with the Chipmunk being the star, but the whole thing kept us (me, the wife and kids 10 & 12) interested all the way through. Story was good, but the jokes were fantastic.

Only 4 stars? Well, there are better films around, but you're missing out if you don't watch this one.
