Review for Doctor Who Original Series : The Cybermen - Limited Edition 4 Disc Box Set (Exclusive To Amazon.co.uk) [1963]:
Nonetheless, its worth pointing out that the Amazon exclusive element is simply (an admittedly splendid) cardboard keepcase in which sit the individual dvds in their original cases. I'd hate to see someone buying this expecting more (as the 'exclusive' might unwittingly hint at).
The stories are great, hence all five shiny gold stars (maybe six, if you know what I mean).

Nice cyberbox
I didn't have any of these stories on DVD so it represents great value for money (still no sign of Revenge or Attack of the Cybermen yet?).Nonetheless, its worth pointing out that the Amazon exclusive element is simply (an admittedly splendid) cardboard keepcase in which sit the individual dvds in their original cases. I'd hate to see someone buying this expecting more (as the 'exclusive' might unwittingly hint at).

Review for Doctor Who Original Series : The Daleks - Limited Edition Black Rubber Cased 7 Disc Box Set (Exclusive To Amazon.co.uk) [1963]:
at the top end, Genesis of the Daleks is brilliant, whereas at the other, Revelation of the Daleks is over-complex, and has far too many characters (including Colin Baker.)
Colin Baker aside, the material here is good, but it would have been far better to have seen some more of the Hartnell / Pertwee Dalek episodes (sadly most of the Troughton ones are missing.) Still, if you can get it, buy the Davros box-set, then buy the Dalek Invasion of Earth separately

Duplicated - if you like this, buy the Davros set instead!
I really don't see the point of this box-set, the Davros collection has all but one of these stories, and it looks a lot like a shameless attempt to get people's money.at the top end, Genesis of the Daleks is brilliant, whereas at the other, Revelation of the Daleks is over-complex, and has far too many characters (including Colin Baker.)

Intelligent movie
This movie was directed by James Gray, who was only 24 when he made this movie and six years later he makes an even better movie called The Yards. This one starts out with Tim Roth playing a hit-man who can't or won't go back to Brooklyn because of his dad, who wants nothing to do with him and some Russian gangsters. Roth is ordered to go and he wants to keep a low profile but it doesn't work that way. His mother is dying and his father wants nothing to do him and his little brother, played by Edward Furlong, wants to be like him. The movie isn't exactly clear about who Roth has to kill but you slowly find out. It is a pretty good movie but The Yards is a much better film.45

Review for The Hunger - Complete Series 1 Box Set (Exclusive To Amazon.co.uk):
Sorry to be unoriginal(much like this series)but if your idea of fun is watching Terence Stamp,in a variety of hilarious costume changes, hosting each episode looking like he'd rather be participating in a 24 hour enema marathon for charity spouting pretentious claptrap about love desire etc then buy this series now.
Otherwise this embarrassing collaboration between the Scott brothers(Ridley and Tony) and Showtime should be seen for what it is - 22 episodes of soft porn badly acted by people you will recognise but probably won't be able to name replete with dull storylines(which considering each episode is only 25 minutes long takes some doing),plodding direction and some seriously predictable"twists".
Admittedly with 22 episodes,Menage a Trois(the excellent Karen Black and Daniel Craig no less)and the genuinely creepy"But I Hear...with Michael Gross are pretty good as is The Secret Shih Tan with a superbly gross ending but 3 out of 22.
Other reviews are kinder to this series but don't be fooled(and I should have known better)anyone hoping for a stylish and entertaining mix of violence, eroticism and paranoia won't find it here.
Terence Stamp is an unintended hoot here, the rest of"The Hunger"is cheap and utter rubbish.
People who enjoy the exploits of Shannon Tweed et al may rate this higher.

Review for Frost / Nixon - The Watergate Interview (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
As a historical document - this is great stuff. It should be required viewing for any student of american history. The Watergate scandal basically opened the floodgates for large scale media intrusion into the lives of politicians. It also led to the very first resignation by a US president.
I would also recommend that media students watch this programme. Sir David Frost has always been one of the worlds best interviewers, and here he excels. Also included on this DVD is a brand new piece of programming where Sir David talks about the interview - apparently giving lots of insight into why he asked particular questions, and how he interpreted Nixons answers and body language.
Highly recommended.

Review for Frost / Nixon - The Watergate Interview (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
An unmissable slice of history
I have seen many excepts of this interview over the years and have long wanted to watch it in its entirety. It basically captures the historic moment when, during a TV interview, Nixon finally apologises for the entire Watergate scandal. He is visibly shaken, emotional and completely unable to counter the expert questioning from a young Sir David Frost. As a historical document - this is great stuff. Review for Ratatouille - Limited Edition With Fridge Magnets (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) [2007]:
wonderful animation, very witty, lovely detail
This excellent Pixar film has the most unlikely storyline - a rat (Remy) takes over the preparation of dishes at a once prestigious Paris restaurant and restores it, for a little while anyway, to its former glory. But the writer and the animators make it work. The animation is a thing to wonder at in this film - the rats move and in many ways behave as rats do, they are intelligent, they can leap great distances but are not great climbers - but they are also anthropomorphically expressive in a charming and amusing way. Paris is beautifully recreated and looks lovely, and the film feels French in many ways, though the very American accent of Linguini, the human hero, is at odds with that, attractively as the lines are spoken. It's a funny film, but it also has a good storyline, a genuine love story and a happy but unexpected ending. As so many of the best recent full-length animations do, it has something for adults and children alike (different things, sometimes, as is inevitable), and I guess it can appeal to most ages. It has some flaws, I think, which made me toy with the idea of four stars, but so much of it is inventive and surprising that it has to remain at five. Some viewers might well find the notion of rats running (and eventually overrunning) a restaurant hard to take, and the excellence of the rat movements (and the sound of their feet) does not dispel this - a little cuteness might not be a bad idea, for some at any rate. Not the least witty thing about the film is some of the voice casting - Peter O'Toole is excellent as the disdainful food critic Ego, Ian Holm equally good as Skinner, the villain, and it was nice to see that the Restaurant Health Inspector is voiced by Jamie Oliver! As for the fridge magnets, I have no comment to make about them.53
Review for Fantasy Island : Complete Season 1 (4 Disc Box Set) (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
Roarke was known for his white suit and cultured demeanor, and was initially accompanied by an energetic sidekick, Tattoo, played by the diminutive Hervé Villechaize. Tattoo would run up the main bell tower to ring the bell and shout"The plane! The plane!" to announce the arrival of a new set of guests at the beginning of each episode. This line, shown at the beginning of the show's credits, became an unlikely catchphrase because of Villechaize's spirited delivery and French accent (he actually pronounced it,"De plane! De plane!"). In later seasons, he would arrive in his personal go-cart, sized for him, and recklessly drive to join Roarke for the visitor reception while staff scrambled to get out of his way. From 1980 to 1982, Wendy Schaal joined the cast as another assistant named Julie. In an highly unpopular move with fans, the producers fired Villechaize from the series before the 1983-1984 season (which ended up being its last) and Tattoo was replaced by a more sedate butler type named Lawrence, played by Christopher Hewett. Lawrence's personality was exactly the opposite of Tattoo's in many ways. For instance, Lawrence was also responsible for the bell ringing, but instead of climbing to the tower he simply pushed a button outside to have the bell ring automatically.
Roarke would then welcome his guests by lifting his glass and saying:"My dear guests, I am Mr. Roarke, your host. Welcome to Fantasy Island.".
The usual format of each episode consisted of an introduction in which Roarke would describe to Tattoo (or another assistant) the nature of each person's fantasy, usually with a cryptic comment suggesting the person's fantasy will not turn out as they expected. The episode would then alternate between two or three independent storylines as the guests experienced their fantasies and interacted with Roarke. Often, the fantasies would turn out to be morality lessons for the guests, sometimes to the point of putting their lives at risk, only to have Roarke step in at the last minute and reveal the deception. It is mentioned a few times that a condition of visiting Fantasy Island is that guests never reveal what goes on there. A small number of guests decided to make the irrevocable choice to stay permanently, living out their fantasy until death; one such person was an actor who'd been in a Tarzan-type TV series in the 1960s.
Complete 1st season here. I hope they release all the others soon.

Review for Fantasy Island : Complete Season 1 (4 Disc Box Set) (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
TV from the golden age
Before it became a long-running original television show, Fantasy Island was introduced to viewers in 1977 through two highly-rated made-for-television films in which Mr. Roarke and Tattoo played relatively minor roles. Airing from 1978 to 1984, the original series starred Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke, the enigmatic overseer of a mysterious island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, where people from all walks of life could come and live out their fantasies, albeit for a price.Roarke was known for his white suit and cultured demeanor, and was initially accompanied by an energetic sidekick, Tattoo, played by the diminutive Hervé Villechaize. Tattoo would run up the main bell tower to ring the bell and shout"The plane! The plane!" to announce the arrival of a new set of guests at the beginning of each episode. This is incredible value
Alias like Buffy is a mix of great drama, action, comedy, romance, martial arts, complicated and intriguing storylines and top notch entertainment. All that plus the gorgeous Jennifer Garner! I'm not going to review the episodes instead i'm going to tell you abit about this amazing boxset. Lets put this into prespective - some new film releases on DVD cost £25 for 2hrs plus extras - this set has hours and hours of great entertainment and it's really cheap! Really really cheap! I received mine today, less than £40 for four seasons! That's less than £10 each. This set contains the original boxsets in a good looking storage box that you will be proud to have sitting on your shelf / bookcase with hours of bonus material. It has 88 episodes! The series has been remastered with 5.1 sorround sound. How many TV DVD's have 5.1 sorround? Not many, if any, most TV shows are recorded in 2.0. This means that the sound on every episode is as good as a movie! It means that if you have a home theatre system this series will sound amazing, this series has never sounded better. Even on a normal TV the sound quality is superb. Do yourself a favour and order this boxset today before Amazon come to their senses and realise how cheap this is or before they run out!58

However, by any and all means you must have this and if you care about Dr Who, you must support the show! You won't be disappointed! Go on, go on, go on!

Couldn't Be Better
Seriously. This boxset is fantastic. I really hope you guys do another one for the final four seasons 4-8 and not a seasons 1-8 boxset cause that means I'll have to buy that instead. I'd rather have just a 5-8 boxset now I have the 1-4 boxset. I recently saw the last ever episode ever and it was SO good. It was a great end to a great show. It doesn't even seem like I've been watching 8 years but I have and I was very sad to see it go but it ended on a happy note. Anyway at least I have this amazing boxset to keep the memories alive. Please make a similar boxset for seasons 5-8 for the fans who splashed out and bought this one exclusively off Amazon.60
Review for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: 2 Disc Special Edition (Limited Edition With Free Art Cards - Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
The problem I have is with the DVD itself, this is by far the worst quality DVD picture I have seen in a very long time. Since Warner Bros have produced consistently high quality DVD discs (all the previous Harry Potter films for example) I can only assume the worst possible reason...that the disc quality has been deliberately down-graded so people might convert to an HD format.
This isn't necessary, HD formats are very high quality and everyone knows it.
There is severe artifacting around edges, pixelization in areas of contrast (such as highlights on faces etc) and some heavy moire on parallel lines. Add to this the constant sharp/smooth shifting on the picture and you have a very poor viewing experience.
This is not me being an AV-Phile...these faults are blatent and you will be seriously disappointed with the disc. If you think this is nonsense, buy the disc...watch it and compare it to another of the 'darker' Harry Potter films such as Azkaban or Goblet of Fire. It's quality doesn't even stand up next to the very first DVD release of the Philosopher's Stone.
To the film's storytellers - Great Work....to Warner Bros for allowing such a poor quality transfer - Bad Form and not at all professional. Do you really think that by lowering the product quality of the current-generation format you can convince everyone to switch over to an HD format you support?

Great Film on the Worst Disc ever produced?
This film carries on the traditions of the previous installments. Look Elsewhere
This DVD misses the mark by a long way. It is neither educational nor entertaining. The couples lack passion, and often seem to be doing no more than going through the motions with little evidence of any real interest in each other. There are many other, similar, titles available and if you are looking for help and ideas to enhance your sex life, look elsewhere - at least you will be convinced that the Kama Sutra is for lovers, and not just for the sake of making a DVD.
