Review for King Kong: 2 Disc Special Edition - Limited Edition Sculpturally Embossed Packaging (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
One of the only things i don't like is that the famous saying:
"Twas beauty that killed the beast" was replaced by a different:
"It was beauty killed the beast" which i dislike, along with the curious absence of a"The".
This DVD also has some good special features, (Even though nothing near the wonderful LOTR packs horde) and has an entertaining 'The History of Skull Island' feature.
This is a really good film and has a good '2 Disc DVD' pack.

V-Rex yes. T-Rex no
This is a brilliant film, and has some great CGI. Despite people saying the first 45 minutes of the film being dull, i think it's perfectly enjoyable. My favourite bit, being the Insect Pit (hey! that rhymes) And the great V-Rex fight with Kong vs 3.One of the only things i don't like is that the famous saying:

Great Fun for Girls
I bought this one for my daughter and the Daring DVD for my son. They have both embraced at least two of the subjects covered. My daughter can now rollerblade with proficiency and bake a mean flapjack. Great fashion tips and incredibly refreshing approach to entertainment. Both have given up their computer games and are actively seeking new outlets for their energy. As a busy parent I couldn't recommend it more.92
Review for Sin City: Limited Edition Box Set (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) [2005]:
I was unfamiliar with Frank Miller and his series of Sin City graphic novels. When I first saw trailers for the film, all I knew was that Jessica Alba was in it, and that was reason enough for me to want to see it. When you don’t know Miller’s work, the trailers for the film are hard to get your head around. You’re intrigued by the unique look of the film, with all the dark, gritty backgrounds and the selective use of color in certain scenes, but it isn’t easy to figure out what the film is about, exactly. When you do sit down and watch the film, you’re just blown away: the whole look of the film is absolutely mesmerizing, unlike anything you’ve seen before; the cast is just full of one huge star after another turning in dazzling performances; the stories are dark and haunted and just draw you right in; but it’s the characters most of all that captivate you.
The film is really four stories assembled into one finished product. The Customer is Always Right is a short introduction for what is to come - and then Marv takes over. Marv is one of the most fascinating characters to come along in years. He’s a huge, ugly guy, a thug and killer you can’t help but like and respect - and Mickey Rourke is simply amazing in the role. Marv has the night of his life with a gorgeous woman named Goldie (Jaime King), then wakes up to find her dead. Framed for the crime, Marv swears to find Goldie’s killer, and he lets nothing stand in his way. Even if it means dying, he’s not going to back out - just because Goldie was nice to him. There’s plenty of violent action in this story, and Elijah Wood is surprisingly good as Kevin, an almost superhuman killer who eats his victims. Then we’re off to The Big Fat Kill, where Clive Owen and Benecio Del Toro steal the show, along with Devon Aoki as the beautifully lethal Miho. She dishes out a lot of graphic violence, including a most excellent beheading. Alexis Bledel lights up the screen with eyes you could dive right in to. There’s a fair bit of dark comedy in this one, including one incredibly funny bit you won’t want to miss. Finally, there’s the story of Hardigan and little Nancy Callahan, a girl that good cop Hardigan saved from a brutal rapist/murderer before having the tables turned completely over on him. Skinny little Nancy grew up strong and drop-dead gorgeous (like I said, I would buy the movie just for Jessica Alba), but she’s still in danger - and only Hardigan can save her from That Yellow Bastard (basically a yellow Ferengi thanks to the damage Hardigan did to him eight years earlier -it’s not easy regrowing a set of family jewels, you know - those side effects are brutal). Bruce Willis is masterful as the tough and gritty yet sensitive Hardigan.
It’s impossible to truly describe these stories - you just have to see them for yourself. The performances are so darn good that this movie actually gets better every time you watch it - and this special edition DVD gives you plenty of chances to do just that. Along with the original theatrical release, you get the uncut version of the movie, split up into four separate, independent chapters; there’s some 23 minutes of extra footage - including a couple of scenes that really help embellish the storylines. You get two commentaries (one with co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, the other with Rodriguez, Quentin Tarentino, and Bruce Willis). My favorite version features a recording of the Austin premier audience reaction; the depth of the dark comedy in these stories didn’t really hit me full force until I was able to join in with that live audience atmosphere. As if all that isn’t enough, though, you also get a series of great featurettes. Herein is where you truly learn to appreciate the film. The vast majority of the actual filming was done in front of a green screen, and many of the actors who performed in the same scenes never even met. And it was all filmed very quickly - all those great backdrops and that unique atmosphere made with CGI. It’s incredible to see just how this movie was shot and put together.
There’s nothing else out there remotely like Sin City. It truly makes Frank Miller’s comic come to life - for the most part, the movie mirrors the graphic novels themselves almost frame by frame. Director Robert Rodriguez calls this an anti-movie; in a sense, Miller actually drew his comics in such a way that they could never be filmed. Rather than adapt the graphic novels to film, Rodriguez went the other way - he adapted the film format to the graphic novels. When you look at the movie in comparison to the books (and you get a copy of The Hard Goodbye with this DVD package), you’ll see exactly what he means. Sin City is truly an unparalleled, 100% complete success. I just can’t get enough of it.

Truly the ultimate Sin City experience
It’s always a thrill to see a movie get the DVD treatment it deserves, and Frank Miller’s Sin City: Recut - Extended - Unrated is a really fantastic package loaded to the gills with all kinds of good stuff. If you’re a Sin City fan, you’ll want to just take a day off and indulge yourself in this ultimate Sin City experience - and it will take you the better part of a day to watch and go through everything this little box holds. Even if you bought the regular DVD when it came out, I really think you’ll want to upgrade to this special edition.I was unfamiliar with Frank Miller and his series of Sin City graphic novels. I'm not surprised they ran away
I bought this film based on the one and only review - sadly I was a bit disappointed. I couldn't believe any of the main characters in the film. The son is supposed to be some high-school drop-out - but at one point manages to sell insurance to his fathers clients in his fathers absence.Even if you can suspend disbelief to watch this movie - you can't relate to any of the situations, or feel for any of the characters.

Review for Afro Samurai - Bravo Numbered Limited Edition (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk):
So long as you have an interest in anime, Sci-fi, Samurai themes or action, it is difficult to go too far wrong with this release. For £10 (at time of purchase), you get a well-packaged, feature-crammed mini series with some big names in there to boot.
The animation is crisp, emotive and varied. The story is straightforward and relatively simple, though this does not detract from its value; instead making the series an easy and enjoyable viewing experience. The big selling point for many is the voice talents of Samuel L. Jackson and Ron Pearlman, both of whom breathe a unique identity into their roles and add a new dimension to the title.
Overall, the DVD is an excellent package for the price. The actual series is enjoyable, uncomplicated and a heavily stylised anime adventure, undoubtedly with the advantage of appealing to a wider audience than your standard anime fare would.

Good Package for a Wide Audience
Afro Samurai successfully combines the elements of anime that those with a loose grasp of the genre may expect from such a title, while introducing a new spin on the theme for seasoned veterans. For the avid anime follower, the release may be a subject of debate or ridicule for its strong American influence. Frankly the specifics are quite a bore and have no bearing on the individual merits of this title and so will be omitted from this short summary review. So long as you have an interest in anime, Sci-fi, Samurai themes or action, it is difficult to go too far wrong with this release. Like the Cyberman boxset. I have these stories already on video only. What tempted me was the value and the boxset presentation. Also the excellent extra documentarys you get with each story. These boxset are great for kick starting a Dr Who DVD collection. I intend to buy the New Beginnings set shortly. All six stories are fine Third doctor stories aswell. A must buy!96

5 Star Comedy
This movie really tickles my funny bone and it is definitely on my top ten commedies list (check out the book by William Kotzwinkle... also known as"Jack in the Box"... it is a VERY funny memoir). This movie is definitely worth a rent or buy. It has fantasy moments that are kind of"Scrubs"-like, and it will give the right crowd a serious case of the giggles (and roll around laughs). Sure the movie is predictable, but you won't care. Watch it for the laughs (and universal childhood memories). This movie also features a great true to self performance by John Cameron Mitchell the future writer-director-actor of the awesome cult sensataion"Hedwig and the Angry Inch". This movie is the only movie ever directed by Robert Shaye (who is now the Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of New Line Cinema... he helped to bring us the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Nightmare on Elm Street Series, and great hits like Frequency).97

Review for Howl's Moving Castle: Limited Edition Sleeve Design (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) [2005]:
The art, particularly the Monty Python style Moving Castle, is brilliantly realised. The characters are well established, even the bad guys are given time to develop, and the plot races along without crashing once. Humour and pyrotechnical battle scenes enliven the story without seeming out of place or gratuitous.
The book, inevitably, has more space to develop the crucial relationship of Howl and Sophie, and sadly many of the pleasingly bizarre episodes in the original: e.g.the mighty wizard Howl's brief return to his Welsh roots, are not translated to the screen. Overall, the humanist tone of Dianna Wynne Jones' work is well captured in this film.
Some readers may find rather too much emphasis placed on violent conflict in this cartoon, particularly in its latter stages, but equally, fantasy film fans may be pleased at this level of exciting action, not present in the book.
In all, a very interesting and enjoyable film that will hopefully gain DWJ some more fans too.

Magic of The Movies
This Anime-style adaption of the great book of the same name by British children's author Dianna Wynne Jones is a worthy version of that story and a work of art in its own right. The art, particularly the Monty Python style Moving Castle, is brilliantly realised.
