A match made in comedy heaven!

I've just started watching all the episodes again with my nine year old son who finds them absolutely hilarious! In one particular episode, Briggs & Louis had a side bet of £10 and it was comedy genius watching the two of them - I would dearly love to see another series commissioned by the beeb.

A very entertaining B-movie.

Even if it's not a masterpiece, Romero's return is a tight, not very scary but nicely satirical B-movie, filled with sharp comments about today's America (it's pretty funny to see Dennis Hopper's character say"we don't negotiate with terrorists!") and very efficient in terms of action and dialogue. Sometimes it looks and sounds more like a John Carpenter than a George Romero's film. It's a kind of"Escape From New York" meets"Prince of Darkness" meets"Vampire$" done by the man who created the zombie movie - and so, the only filmmaker who's really authorized to take some risky liberties (like the zombies starting to learn, evolve and become... human, for better or worst). Some people passionately hate this movie (even Romero fans!), but I think it deserves a second chance. Yes, Zack Snyder did a much more scary and exhilarating film with his"Dawn of the Dead" remake, but Romero's much more intelligent in terms of social satire. And the truth is, that's one of the reasons we loved his zombie movies in the first place...

PS - Being a fan of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, it was a delight to see the"Shaun of the Dead" pair playing two very frustrated zombies in a quite funny set-up!

5 Star Comedy

This movie really tickles my funny bone and it is definitely on my top ten commedies list (check out the book by William Kotzwinkle... also known as"Jack in the Box"... it is a VERY funny memoir). This movie is definitely worth a rent or buy. It has fantasy moments that are kind of"Scrubs"-like, and it will give the right crowd a serious case of the giggles (and roll around laughs). Sure the movie is predictable, but you won't care. Watch it for the laughs (and universal childhood memories). This movie also features a great true to self performance by John Cameron Mitchell the future writer-director-actor of the awesome cult sensataion"Hedwig and the Angry Inch". This movie is the only movie ever directed by Robert Shaye (who is now the Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of New Line Cinema... he helped to bring us the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Nightmare on Elm Street Series, and great hits like Frequency).

This is one hell of a set of DVDs. These work out at less than £5 each DVD so its an amazing value package.

I rate this film. Very well directed and great scenes. Had everything i was hoping to see. Much better than 'sympathy for mr vengence' but nowhere as good as 'Oldboy' but then that could 'cos 'Oldboy' was the 1st one i watched. If you like your Asian films and into seeing some mad scenes then you'll like this. I gave this a 4* 'cos i thinks its directed brillaintly. The cinematography was very effective and worked well. A must See!!

Chronic waste of time!

What an absolute load of rubbish - ive seen more entertainment watching my car parked in the driveway!, This film has little story to it and what you can understand of it is utterly stupid, weird, weird, weird. Im sorry for anyone else who enjoyed this film if you dont agree! - fair enough whatever floats your boat!

the best

i've seen will and grace 1-6 (because that is all that's been aired and am dying to see season 7.i've got 1-4 and am waiting anxiously for five which i've pre-orderd. i beleieve will and grace is way better than frasier, seinfeld, friends or any thing else. better yet, i know so. also the extra's are hilarious: bloopers, themed short montages and interviews (and more of course)...
in general, i love will and grace and am a true fan.

Breath of fresh air!!

Good old Wallace and Gromit. Millions of people have been waiting for their return, and the time has arrived. Superb film its an absoloute classic. You have to see this film. Laughing all the way with W&G!

Difficult to spoof blood and gore but...

I think I must be the only person in the universe who has not seen Shaun of the Dead. This was my first Pegg experience and I dare not watch anything prior for fear of"ruining him" for me...For those who did not like this film because it was too"Arnie" with all of the firepower etc...all I can say is that was the point. This is a spoof! I am not sure how I managed to rent this movie because I am not usually a fan of the"anihilation movie" (I think the goose probably had a lot to do with it...) but I am very glad I did! I do agree that there was more gore than I had expected (sleepy village amid rolling hills...you have to reckon the goose is going to be the most dangerous thing our hero faces, no?) and that there probably should be some sort of warning. If, however, there will be no kids around and you feel that you have been properly warned about the gore, do NOT pass up this"hot" and"fuzzy" experience!

Disappointing and over hyped- hollywood teen horror!

Now firstly credit to Eli Roth for at least trying to make a shocking movie-
The first half is more like a teen romp through Europe and then the change- although the film is enjoyable to a certain degree, i was left wanting greatly in the shocks and scares, the movie was a victim of it's own hype- "The goriest, sickest movie ever made" etc!!! who quoted that exactly?? Must have only seen 'mainstream' horror like Halloween then!!
Most of the torture appears off screen- (and don't give me that- let your imagination do the work rubbish!!it's a cop out !) Other than a couple of nice moments (gore wise) - the heel cut and chainsaw in hand. The rest was just dodgy rubber limbs on a trolley and people crying!Oooo scarey!
I was let down- because i truly believed that Roth & Tarantino had 'dared' to do what no other - big director had done- a big hyped and promoted hollywood shocker that wouldn't give in to commercial and 'hollywood' expectations- and truly be gore filled and cutting edge. Instead we got a film that PLAYED IT SAFE! but promoted itslf as otherwise.
If you want to see shocks and great direction get hold of MURDER - SET - PIECES this really does live up to the hype.Or High Tention & Hills have eyes remake uncut. Even the SAW series are better!
or if want to be truly shocked-(read SICKENED) check out AUGUST UNDERGROUND : MORDUM - for pushing the barrier of shock and gore!
At the end of the day- if i hadn't got caught up in it's promotion and seen this film- i would have enjoyed it for what it is- another hollywood teen slasher with a 'slightly' darker edge.
will give extra star for the effort.
