Very Enjoyable

This film really continued the trend of enjoyable rom-coms from the UK film market. There have been many more since from the"Ricard Curtis age" as some now call it, including - Four Weddings and Funeral, Love Actually and About a Boy

Best sitcom since Spaced !

I was very impressed with the second series of the IT crowd ,the stories are a bit hit and miss but the quality of the comedy is excellent.

The main 3 characters are very funny and the dynamics between them make the series both original and fun to watch ,as said earlier there is a good joke every minute , I had to pause the DVD several times before continue watching to catch my breath.

The 6 episodes are of different quality but the musical and the dinner party are the best 2 of the whole series so far ( Yes Miss ? ). Richard Ayoade will make good anything he is in and the timing of his jokes is perfect.

The problem with the series is the supporting cast with the departure of Chris Morris, apart from an excellent Richmond Avenal ( the goth ).

There is a third series on the way and I hope they can keep the level of comedy genius.

The extras included outtakes ( just a handful ) a video journal and some commentaries.

British cult comedy at it's best.

I cannot believe that Peep Show was around for four years before I started watching it. It has frequently been acknowledged as one of the most 'quotable' tv shows around, and that is no word of a lie.

The thing that I love the most about Peep Show, besides its brilliant lines, is the fact that it is so British. No cheese, no glamour, no cliches; it is simply the inner workings of 2 very ordinary young guy's minds.

Sensible Mark (a fifty something year old trapped inside a twenty something year old's body)lives with Jez, an aspiring musician with little talent or drive in life to do anything (except get laid and get wasted, of course!) Series One sees Mark and Jez get themselves into ridiculous situations, such as sleeping with a teenage goth, having a first date at a funeral, sending love interests 'nazi love' post-it notes and Mark having a brief sexuality crisis over his admiration for his boss, Johnson.

These utterly dysfunctional characters are humourous and incredibly likable. Their ridiculous quotes and lines are hilarious in that they actually accurately mirror our own thought processes - generally those things we decide should never be said aloud.

Peep Show is original, hilarious, and very politically incorrect. I would recommend it to anyone with a decent sense of humour.

Never read the books but love this production

I tried to read one of these books about thirty years ago and found it rather irritating and silly. Being a fan of the main characters, I thought I would give this set a go. Am I glad that I did. Wooster is silly - theres no other word to use. But the potrayal by Laurie is magical. He genuinely seems to anjoy looking an absolute twit. Fry just seems to feed off the situations and I've never seen better from him. With two great lead characters and really good supporting actors, lavish sets and a production that pays more than enough attention to detail, this can't fail to entertain and amuse. It only goes to show that a series with no nudity, no violence, no swearing, no noisy police chases-in fact nothing at all that you find in the drivel fed to us on a daily basis by current programme controllers- is so refreshingly funny and enjoyable to watch that you begin to wonder what has happened to quality like this.
Get it! I'll bet that you watch it more than once!

Grey's Anatomy

I decided to buy Grey's Anatomy after friends repeatedly told me of how good the series was and how I was missing out on something by not watching it. Nevertheless I wasn't expecting much, being a huge fan of ER, I did not think another medical drama could be much better. However I was incredibly wrong, not only was addicted straight away but I was rivoted to the screen, watching episode after episode. A week later I bought season 2 and I am now watching season 3 on channel five. It is a remarkable show and you are definitely missing something by not watching it. It is certainly not just another medical drama - it is a lot more, and whether you are into blood or gore or not this is a must see!

OH TO BE IN ENGLAND

Living in Africa can have its downfalls, one is I missed the T.V. release but we did get it eventually and wow was it worth the wait. David Jason was born for the part of Pop and Pam Ferris is the only choice as Ma. Catherine Zeta Jones and Philip Franks certainly give 100% as do the supporting cast. Life with the Larkins is a gentle stroll down memory lane and their genuine enthusiasm for their parts shines through in every episode. If H.E. Brilliant Laugh

This is a great movie about a rich women who has an absolutely obnoxious personality. Along comes single dad Kurt Russell who decides to take revenge on the women who has amnesia. No one claims to know her and Kurt needs a babysitter. Then its a riot a minute, its of pranks and jokes on the poor women! Its a great laugh and you can watch it time and time again! I've watched it countless times and it still makes me laugh! The on screen chemistry is obviously great!

Not a laugh-a-minute but sweet, feel-good fun.

27 dresses is your typical chick-flick scenario: Heigl plays terminally single Jane, who juggles both a secret but long-standing love for her boss, George, and selflessly filling her spare time with helping organise her friends' weddings. But when her selfish and flighty younger sister gets involved with George and announces their engagement, Jane's endurance is really challenged. She finds herself struggling with her emotions while trying to organise her sister's wedding to the man she loves- and something has to give. Meanwhile, a gorgeous but cynical wedding writer, Kevin, becomes interested in Jane first professionally, and then romantically. But meeting Jane will prove the toughest test of Kevin's scruples.

Heigl and Marsden provide great on-screen chemistry as Jane and Kevin, each teaching the other something about themselves that they never knew, and the film really is poignant for this. Heigl inspires the right mixture of pity and admiration as Jane and Marsden is so effortlessly appealing as Kevin. My only quibble with the movie was that there could have been more laughs, but then, in the funny moments, the humour was intelligent and subtle. Every bit a credible, refreshing take on the chick-flick.

Hysterically Funny

This film is the funniest I have ever seen, I watched it with no previous knowledge of the plot or what kind of film it was as my husband's friend loaned it to us and we put it on one rainy Sunday afternoon - we laughed for the rest of the day. A gem!

Are you sure you won't watch a wee bit? Ah, go on!

I bought this earlier in the year so that I had something to watch while living in France...and it's easily the funniest comedy I've ever seen! It's difficult to pick my favourite episode, as they're all sheer genius...although the milkman one is definitely up there! The extras are reasonably good, especially the greatest moments of each character (including the video for"My Lovely Horse"), and the Comic Relief part is rather funny as well. Quote of the whole thing has to go to Father Jack..."Don't tell me I'm still on that feckin' island!"...well thank goodness you are, it wouldn't have been the same without him!

One of greatest sitcoms of all time shows further signs of age...

Season 8 is not regarded very highly, and rightly so. Whereas Seasons 1-7 (particularly the first 4 seasons) are probably as high a standard, and as consistently funny, as any comedy ever made, the loss of the dynamic between Niles and Daphne meant Season 8 lacked the spark of previous years.

So, how does Frasier recover it`s first weak season? Definitely, there are some seriously funny episodes in Season 9. "Bla-z-boy" is one of the strongest episodes of the entire run, never mind this season. The tension between Martin and Frasier is wonderful, as Frasier can`t accept the fact his longest successful relationship is the one with his father. Similar tensions are showcased in"Room Full Of Heroes", but this time it`s Niles who offends Martin. A personal favourite episode is"Wheels of Fortune", a brilliantly cast Michael Keaton as Lilith`s half-brother Blaine, who plays on Frasier`s good-natured side with the perfect scam. Watching Frasier and Niles catching a cricket that has sneaked into the apartment in"The First Temptation of Daphne" is great; as always, my favourite moments are dialogue between Grammar, Hyde-Pierce and Mahoney.

Low points - I don`t know what others think of Millicent Martin as Daphne`s mother, but I always found her incredibly annoying! And she is in too many episodes! New characters weren`t needed in Frasier, the original half-a-dozen were strong enough to carry things on...one massive exception is the superb Cam Winston! Another development that was definitely not needed was a bizarre development between Frasier and Roz in"The Guilt-Trippers". Especially when viewed retrospectively, considering Roz`s reluctance to leave Frasier`s side in Season 11, this episode comes a little out of the blue for my tastes. Like most fans, I love Roz, but she has a literally rubbish storyline throughout the series, as she dates a garbage-man. Considering that Roz would date anything in the first few series, it doesn`t quite feel right that she would be so superficial.

As always, the episodes with top-class banter between Frasier, Niles and Martin are the strongest, and there are enough to save the series. 4 stars is the bare minimum...some great episodes, but probably a few too many that seem to be filler. Better than Season 8 though!

Like Brasseye? Want to see the roots of it's anarchic behaviour?
Like Alan Partridge? Want to the see the roots of his character?
Like The Office? Want to see where Gervais got his inspiration for it?

Etc etc, this series is responsible for so much of modern UK comedy and is itself, genius. Like Brasseye, the humour here is random, random, random. The characters are top notch and the dialogue/article names are perfectly chaotic. Horses in the underground, bomb dogs, a mobile bureau de change, currency cat, gay weather, I could go on.

It's not that offensive, and from what I can remember there's not that much swearing in it, but it is damn funny.

What a laugh

Just bought this 2nd series after seeing bits of it on tv. Had a bit of time on my hands so watched it in a couple of days-all 4 dvds. Is such a funny show. Havent seen 1st series so will be ordering that. In the meantime I will just have to watch this series again. Loved the Cops episode. You MUST buy this!!!

A work of genius

Chaps - if your girlfriend forces you to watch the horrid 'Sex And The City', then get your revenge and make her watch this. Geared to the male sense of humour, TAAHM is up there with the best of the current crop of razor-sharp US comedies, and is perfect viewing for a boys' night in. The performances are superb: Charlie - the rich, handsome, drunken womaniser; Alan - the divorced, sexually inadequate and broke live-in loser brother; Jake - Alan's lazy, ill-educated and gross pubescent son; Berta - the seen-it-all-before ex-biker housemaid; and Judith - Alan's bitter, selfish and mean-spirited ex-wife. The one-liners are often hilarious and quoteable (as you would expect from a show of this pedigree) and all 5 series are worth investigating (Paramount channel in the UK). Some great-looking women appear too - and that's a nice bonus!

Nerds should check out the subtitles!

a perfect movie

Now and again there comes a film that leaps into your heart, a film to take to your desert island and a film that becomes a life long friend. Local Hero is one such film. It's an unashamedly, brilliantly British comedy following in the footsteps of the Ealing Comedies, yet like the Ladykillers etc still has universal appeal. It's the tale of loneliness, of wanting to belong somewhere and finding that place. It looks magnificent (the Scottish scenery will have you on the next train to the Highlands) and it sounds... oh the music!!!! A glorious score and what an ending. If your not smiling back the tears as Mark Knopfler's guitar sweeps you into the end credits then some thing's wrong.
Films don't get much better than this.

Shameless isnt for everyone and if you get offended easily you might want to skip it. However if you like me love a dark, gritty sense of humour you'll adore it!
