The Worst film ever made!!!

This is the worst film I can ever remember seeing the plot was pathetic the charcters were lowsy the voice overs were stupid DON'T BUY THIS FILM there are 31 I saw used and new (hint hint) save the £10 it takes to buy this and take your children to a pizza restaurant they'll enjoy it more

Very Disappointed

having purchased the original baby einstein and the children absolutly loving it, I thought that I would try another title. To say that my daughter hates this is an understatement. She screams when this is put on- the reason being is that it is far to busy. The original video was very clam and the screen changed at a fairly slow pace, but on this both the images on the screen are fast and the accompaning music.

A Right Royal Mess

I watched this movie because I'm a huge Julie Andrews fan, the Princess Diaries books are a favourite guilty pleasure of mine (though I do think the joke has grown somewhat stale over the course of ten books) and although the first film wasn't brilliant, it was affable enough. This film, however, is a complete and utter waste of space. I can't believe it was actually a feature film that people paid money to see, the whole thing screams made-for-TV. Frankly, whoever wrote the script deserves to be shot, or at least banned from ever writing for the screen again.

The undisputed highlight is seeing Julie Andrews sing on screen again, but even that is ruined by making her duet with the hip hop star, which simply doesn't work. Anne Hathaway is incredibly irritating, one minute trying to be a benevolent, enlightened ruler, the next screaming her head off about having remote controlled drawers in her luxury suite and generally acting like a pampered rich girl. The depiction of the impossible to tell apart, eager to please servants is grotesquely unfunny, and even rather offensive.

I can't believe even the most sheltered and dim-witted ten year old could find this tripe entertaining. Off with their heads, the whole lot of them.

Its the complete 1st series of the Muppet show. Nuff Said. Buy it now you will not be disappointed.

The Wonderful thing about Tigger

Sheer fun for all the family. The songs will have you humming, then whistling then signing along. It gets under your skin and brings bak memories from the days when Dysney used to make cartoons that were just fun.

I would reccomnd this to anyone that wants to escape from the more mundain thing in life.

Disappointing

Entitled 'Race For Space' we expected this disc to include the 'space' episodes (there was no synopsis at the time we ordered it) - Ring Around the Planet, Galatic Goodnight and maybe Rocket Soup..... So when this arrived with 3 completely random episodes (I have no idea why you would group these 3 together) we were a bit disappointed. Of course my 2 year old immediately saw the disk and wanted to watch the 'planet one' and wondered why Mummy was showing him the wrong one.

If you are just after 3 more episodes from the some-what inferior second series of Little Einsteins, this disc is for you. If however you want some from the 1st series I suggest you write to or email Disney (as I intend to) and ask them what they are playing at.

In case you wondered, the episodes included are - The Treasure Behind The Red Door (a new one), Super Fast and The Great Sky Race Rematch.

Collectors Item

This set is really well presented and thoroughly worth the extra few pounds. The photo book is a real collectors piece and people who love the film will appreciate the enhanced picture quality of the fim which is what this book is showcasing. The Disney Deluxe Editions are like goldust to get hold of once they go out of print (Which is usually only after a few months) so if your unsure, buy it now while the price is still very reasonable. The film itself is exceptional and is certainly one of the best to come out of the Disney Animation Studios. It's been fully restored and remastered and looks gorgeous. Packed full of features, I just can't praise this set highly enough.

Baby loves this DVD!

My 8 month old baby has just started to take an interest in the t.v. and is mesmerised by Bear in the Big Blue House, although she gets bored after the first 3 minutes. With Baby Einstein she is completely amazed for at least 15minutes! Her responses to the animals are hilarious and keeps us all entertained. She now knows to look to the t.v for the 'dog'. I have this on rent from Amazon but I will definately be buying it.

ahhhh have a hankie ready when you watch it!!!

I was watching a different film on the long flight back from New Zealand but could see EIGHT BELOW on the screen of the man sitting in the row infront of me. I kept being distracted from my film and found myself squinting between the seats and watching the beautiful Huskies and the fantasic scenery on the screen infront, even without sound it looked a fantastic film so when the man finished watching it, I asked him what it was. I then searched for it on my screen, found it and sat spellbound watching it. It's full of hardship, hope and triumph over adversity, one of those sad but happy films that keeps your attention til the end, and you definately need a tissue handy. When it ended, I just watched it all over again, and when I got home it was the first film I bought!!!!

Pottytastic!

I ordered this for a friend. She child-minds and was having problems potty-training her current charge. He loved the video! Not only has he been singing along to the songs but he is now much happier about using his potty. And that's after only the first day of using it! She says it has been a big help.

Fantastic Feel Good Film - whatever your age

101 Dalmatians kept both my mum and my two girls glued to the television throughout.

It is a fantastic feel good movie that will appeal to even the hardest of hearts whatever their age.

Saved by a support cast

Collaborations with Pixar aside,"Brother Bear" represents a kind-of stalemate in the quality of Disney animations. In fact, had it not been for 2 supporting cast members, the film would be barely watchable.

Disney, as the front-runner of family entertainment, always seem to aim for universal appeal. To me, that's not necessarily a good thing -"Brother Bear" suffers from a very cutesy storyline with a standard, predictable and"heartwarming" ending with the usual Disney"magic" coming from unnecessary production values that gloss over the flaws.



Had it not been for some light relief from Rutt and Tuke, superbly played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas (reprising the hilarious Canadian-parody style they employed as"Bob & Doug McKenzie")
, the film's motifs and strong messages would make the film far too serious, preachy and heavy-going for a family animation. As far as the story goes, its tale of friendship-despite-adversity is a well-worn path that almost every animation company has been treading for decades and stoicly refuses to move from.

If more proof was needed, they even bring back Phil Collins, an artist who hasn't really strayed off-centre for almost 30 years, to write some more contemporary pop songs for the movie's soundtrack. Yet, sadly, these songs pale even in comparison to even the worst of Collins' output.
At best, they're on par with his work on"Tarzan".

In the end, it's a decent enough film to park your kids infront of and keep them entertained for an hour - but as all-round family entertainment, it's only just above par. Adult viewers will end up growing impatient until Rutt & Tuke re-appear.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

This is the only Bear DVD we own but my 2 year old has been an avid fan for the last twelve months! She sings the songs and dances along with Bear, Pip & Pop, Tutter, Treelow and OhJo and would definitely watch it over and over again if her cries for 'more!' are anything to go by. This is another masterpiece from the Jim Henson studios. HIGHLY recommended!

A perfect present for kids of all ages

A classic Disney favourite that will make chldren of all ages smile - whether they’ve never seen it before or if they’d like the chance to watch it for the hundreth time. For avid fans of the film, their are tonnes of extras to keep you entertained; as always with Disney, and they’re not quite as lame as the kind you generally find!

Don’t think about it, just buy it before Disney cruelly withdraw it from sale and you have to wait another ten years for your next chance!

"I Swear I Saw a Dragon!"

Pete (Sean Marshall) is a poor orphan. He's been adopted by the mean Gogan family run by the matriarch Lena (Shelley Winters). The Gogans make him work from morning til night and beat him for the slightest thing.

So, naturally, he runs away. Only this time he has help in the form of Elliot. Elliot is a dragon. And while he doesn't always think about what he's doing, he means well. And he really wants to help Pete.

Pete and Elliot happen to find the town of Passamaquoddy on the coast of Maine. Their first trip through town doesn't go well, so they find themselves out by the lighthouse, where they make friends with Lampie (Mickey Rooney) the lighthouse keeper and his adult daughter Nora (Helen Reddy). Have they found a real home at last?

Meanwhile, Doc Terminus (Jim Dale) and his assistant Hoagy (Red Buttons) have wandered into town. The Doc is a quack, selling fake potions and running from one town to the next just ahead of the lynch mob. They get word of the dragon and set out to capture him for the money they can make from his body parts. Will they get their hands on Elliot?

This was a favorite movie as a kid, and I still find it entertaining as an adult. Which is surprising when you consider the serious subject matter dealt with. Lampie is an alcoholic and Pete is running away from an abusive home. I think one reason it works is that the villains are so over the top you can't take them too seriously. There's some classic vaudeville in them. Heck, I often feel like booing the bad Doc.

And the music really helps. Yes, this is a musical with 10 songs. Honestly, I love all these songs in their own way. Of course,"Candle on the Water" is the most famous. I think my favorite is"Brazzle Dazzle Day."

Elliot is an animated dragon inhabiting a live action world. While by no means state of the art for today, it does hold up remarkable well for a 30 year old film.

All told, this really is a fun movie that kids of all ages will enjoy. If that's you or your family, sit down and watch this classic today.
