You will read many reviews going into details regarding this space saga but I will spare you that and just sayL

SEE IT!!!

The best praise I can give it is that even watching it a third time it managed to surprise me in places and make me notice details that I missed the first two times around.

Excellent
This season is where Farscape kicks off into a higher gear. My personal favourite season is season 3, but this one is a fantastic mix-up of leather, pop culture references and bodily fluids. An exceptionally well made series cut down in it’s prime, but at least we got Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars which gave us a sense of closure.

Whacky, insane sci-fi for the fans who don’t take their TV weird shows too seriously.

Review for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars:
Fitting end to a great series
PKW is surely a testament to democracy and fan-power if ever there was! A massive outcry from fans made this possible, a two-part mini-series that ties up the loose ends left dangling from season four. Basically, the entire fifth season is condensed into a mere three hours, so if at times it feels a bit overloaded that's understandable. But you know what, despite the occasional misstep (the pace is sometimes a bit uneven), this is a triumphant and at times brilliant return. Lots of action, intrigue, neat plotting and solid characterisation mark this as a sumptuous treat.

The epic scale and the lavish effects are breathtaking. My only qualm is that while the mini-series does a terrific job of tying up loose ends, it's so dense with little exposition or concession to newbies, that it was probably unlikely to capture the interest of new viewers. Still, welcome back Farscape! Keep an eye out for a series of 'webisodes' coming soon.

Review for Farscape - The Complete Season 3 [1999]:
Easily The Best
Farscape's third season is some of the most fantastic science fiction you'll ever see. The first season was great but had very little plot arc carried over the season, the second got darker and smarter with more overall story but occasionally just died; for this third season almost every episode fits into a huge overal plot, the writing is smarter, darker and more adult than before and if you enjoyed the first two seasons you're really in for a treat with this.
After the experimental tone of season two the writers had really learned what did and didn't work in Farscape and the thrid season really plays to it's strengths, the bizzarre is commonplace here (one episode takes place almost entirely in a looney toones cartoon world) and so is the fantastical but Farscape remains deeply involving to the last and never shies away from an opportunity to tug on it's audience's heart-strings by taking the characters to very dark and tragic places. Crichton becomes increasingly unstable, Aeryn (via a plot move I won't spoil) is forced yet again to face her betrayal of the PeaceKeepers, D'argo has to watch his dreams tear apart in front of him, and so on.
There is just something so rewarding in this series for people who've stuck with it from the beginning, all of this season is based on events of the previous two and the characters have all evolved so far that there's a very definite emotional connection to the show now which makes the sheer towering quality of the material even better.
The season also ups the anti on the action front, with the shoot-outs far more elaborate, there's much more space-set scenes many of which are facilitated by the now almost fully-grown Talyn , and with what appears to be a budget hike giving all the effects an even more intricate look than they had previously. Now, there are still a few bits of effects that have not aged all that well, but these are never present for more than an episode and so don't really detract since this whole thing is just so good anyway.
In conclusion, Farscape's third season easily cements it's place as the single greatest sci-fi show of all time. Effects are brilliant, the characters are fantastically well-drawn and three-dimensional, the plot is dark and visceral, with levels of involvement which are rarely seen in television (though not unique, series this involving are few and very far between). Frankly, five stars just doesn't do it justice.

AUSTRALIAN MUPPETS? IN SPACE?
The pilot episode of this show is actually a very good piece of genre tv. However, after this promising start FARSCAPE very rapidly degenarates into an inchoherent mish mash of pointless plots about the loopy andventures of one American and a bunch of Australian muppets in space. Best left well alone I think.

Review for Farscape: Complete Season 2 (Box Set) [1999]:
Gets better with every episode
I didn't like Farscape at all when I first saw it. Had just watched Blake's Seven get a rerun on Sci Fi and thought that was the high water mark of Science Fiction.

With Farscape you have to watch six consecutive episodes without adverts to start to warm to the characters. Once you do, you will be hooked by it's cleverness. This blows all Star Trek series (bar the original perhaps) so far out of the water that I see Enterprise et all as more of a comedy now. There is none of this episode cop out nonsense that turns every third episode of Star Trek into an episode of Trisha.

Put Pickard and the rest in the bin where they belong and buy this.

Season Two really kicks in just before the half way mark of the series.

Better than Season One with John getting more insane episode by episode until we reach the series best cliffhanger..

The acting is superb, the effects are superb and the package is superb.

Another Brilliant show cut off in it's prime
This is truly the best that the Sci-fi Community has to offer the modern generation of science-fiction enthusiast, it is funny, it has a truly original storyline and background history and should never have been cut off the air by the sci-fi channel. This is a must for all TRUE sci-fi fans. This is also a deeply involved story that once your hooked to it you will constantly be asking for more!!

we can only hope it is back on screens soon!

Review for Farscape 1.2 [1999]:
A well written and witty set of episodes. Brilliant.
Farscape is best described as a breath of fresh air for the Sci-fi community. The show may lack the budget of Startrek or the gritty realism of Babylon 5 but what it does have is a set of characters and a script that are a joy to listen to and watch. In Farscape the relationships between the different characters and their changing attitudes towards each other are well written and played. In this set particularly, new oppinions can be formed about each character, especially in DNA Mad Scientist where certain members of the crew show a darker side to their characters. However by far and away the best relationship is that of Crichton and Rygel. The excellent puppeteering allows for some truely comic moments between the two characters, an episode can be watched just to see these two together. In a word Brilliant.

Review for Farscape 1.4 [1999]:
The best of the 5 Farscape Season 1 DVD Boxsets
I guess I should start off by explaining the one-line summary of this review. Each of the other 4 sets has at least one 'weaker' episode, this one does not. For set 1 it's"I,ET", set 2 you've got"Thank God it's Friday Again" and"That Old Black Magic", set 3"Jeremiah Crichton" and set 5"Born to be Wild". In set 4 we start off with"Durka Returns", an important episode since it introduces a new main character in Chiana and a new powerful race called the Nebari. This episode links to"PK Tech Girl" from set 2 and ties up some loose ends left in that episode. The second episode"A Human Reaction" is another important episode because it is the start of a major problem for our hero John Crichton with repecussions through the rest of the series, deep into season 2."Through the Looking Glass" is a standalone episode but it is very well done, good performances from all the cast and great character interaction. The last episode"A Bug's Life" set things up for the season finale, with some great performances in it. This is also where the new look of season 2 starts for John Crichton.

Like I basically said at the start, this is easily the best set of Farscape episodes from season 1!

Review for Farscape 4.1 [1999]:
Farscape is always good, but....
Farscape is always a cut above the average sci-fi show, but this is certainly not the series arc to watch if you have never seen the show before. Season 4 came under a lot of critisim when it began - after the brilliant season 3 'season of death,' the new episodes seemed to lack something. A lot of this 'something' is explained later in the series, but on first viewing, these episodes seem to make little sense. Especially what was lost parts one and two - as these two epiodes have been labled the most confusing episodes of Farscape ever. One for the people who have been watching Farscape since it began I think....
If you want to see the best of Farscape, go for seasons one, two and three. If you just love the show, get this.

Farscape 4.2 [1999]

Review for Farscape 4.2 [1999]:
good stand alone episodes.....
After the huge story arc of season 3, it was a slightly difficult (to say the least) to get used to the direction that season 4 initially took. Instead of a clear plots that connect between episodes we have here instead a number of episodes that seem to have no connection to each other whatsoever. Does this mean that this is a bad start to the season? Not necessarily. Although these episodes are no where near as good as the later half of season 4, the moya that we see here, is a good introduction to the darker and more desperate tone that Farscape has taken.

There is nothing really all that new about these epsiodes - basically they follow the routine of season 1 in their 'see the problem, solve the problem' structure - but even though no new territoy is covered, there are still some gems. 'A prefect murder' for instance was, in my view, wonderfully shot. The landscape and inhabitants made up one of the most convincing planets that the crew had ever visited - and there is a very touching romance storyline for the new alien, Sikosu.
Another one to watch is 'Natural Election,' where the lighting and use of the Moya set, give an extremerly claustrophobic feel to proceedings.

'John Quixote' - if a little over the top at times - is definately of interest if only for the fact that it was written by series star Ben Browder - and as for 'I shrink therefore I am' - well, it's the first time that we see the ruling scarans, and there's certainly a makeup artist somewhere that should get an award for that.

Definately worth the watch if you love Farscape, but if you want the best of season 4, look for the later boxsets - they're really something special.

Review for Farscape 1.3 [1999]:
Great show - but these episodes do it no justice
Since airing on BBC2 this australian/british production really grabs the attention with its effects and serialisation. You learn a little more about the characters as each episode unfolds. These are more orientated towards characterisation than action - especially 'Jeremiah', but you really do grow to relate to these characters!

Review for Farscape 4.4 [1999]:
Fantastic!
Season 4 just keeps getting better and better. My favourite episode in this box set has to be on the first dvd 'mental as anything' where scorpius takes the men of Moya to an advanced training camp to learn mental discipline and things get more interesting as D'argo has to confront Macton, the killer of his wife.

'Bringing home the Beacon' starts off as an average farscape venture, the crew land on a planet to purchase a camouflage device for Moya but then discover both Peacekeepers and Scarrans are holding negotiations for a treaty. Plenty of suspense and lots of humour from Chiana and Noranti.

The 2nd dvd episode 'A constellation of doubt' sheds light on how the people of earth viewed moyas crew as Crighton watches a documentary, he is intrigued about the word 'Katratzi' and believes it is linked to the wherabouts of Aeryn.

In 'Prayer' Crighton is determined to find out where 'Katratzi' is and so both he and scorpius travel the the alternate 'unrealised reality' which he had been to before and try to find the answer from Stark. Meanwhile Aeryn is being tortured by her Scarran Captors and preys for her rescue by Crighton.

Altogether a fantastic build up to the last 4 episodes of the season, cant wait to watch boxset 4.5! In fact if i could give this one a rating i'd say its a 4.5 too :-)

Worth it just for 'The Way We Weren't'
Although 'Mind the Baby' has some moments of implausability & 'Taking the Stone' & 'Vitas Mortis' have the feel of slightly weak filler episodes, this DVD, as a package deserves 5 stars.
Why? Two of the best Farscape eps of the whole three seasons is reason enough. 'Crackers don't matter' is darkly comedic in a uniquely Farscape way, whilst 'The Way we Weren't' allows Claudia Black to unleash her undoubted talent as Aeryn Sun. Also it unusually gives an animatronic character (Pilot) an emotional, yet convincing role. Farscape is definitely THE best thing on the small screen.

Review for Farscape 2.2 [1999]:
Far from perfect
Farscape is superior to much that is on the TV these days, with amazing creativity being equalled by the characterisation and visuals...

...at least it's like that most of the time. There are three seasons of greatness to represent farscape, and although the 2nd season does touch those dizzying heights in individual episodes and moments, the season has a whole is wobbly. Especially in this DVD boxset.

Picture if you will feels shabby, with the characterisation of Zhann in particular at an all time low.

Bone on the Remains is just a dud episode full stop. It's boring and badly thought out.

Out of their minds is alot better, however whereas the cast seem to relish playing each other, the actor who voices Rygel clearly has no idea of what he's doing in these other roles and is thus extremely poor - not enough to ruin the episode, but close.

The saviour of the disc is Dream a little Dream, origianlly envisaged as the season opener, but perhaps a little too sedate for that. It sees great performances by Virginia Hey and Gigi Edgely as Zhann is put on trial for her life after being set up for murder. It's a riviting episode throughout.

Overall, even Farscape at its lowest standard is alot more entertaining than alot of things you'll see on TV, but if you want just one boxset of Farscape, there are many many better ones.

I haven't rushed home like this since Dr Who was on
What a fantastic merger of all the techniques. Puppets, actors and graphics. They all merge without a join but this is only clever trincks and on its own would not make compulsive viewing. When you combine this with a story line stands up on its own and would work with the wobbly walls and locations of the classic Dr Who then you must have a series that will stand the test of time and become a classic.

These episodes takes Farscape to a new level, it's superb!
I just love Farscape, it's certainly the best sci-fi series I've come across in a very long time. These last four episodes of the first season are vibrating with energy. They reveal new layers of possibilities and cool stuff! The only problem as I see it, is that it's going to take forever until next season starts running!

Farscape 3.4 [1999]

Used Price: £2.50
New Price: £3.70

Review for Farscape 3.4 [1999]:
A brilliant continuation in the series
The fourth DVD set released for Farscape's third season include 4 of the most memorable episodes released.

3.15: INFINITE POSSIBILITIES - Part 2 ICARUS ABIDES
3.16: REVENGING ANGEL
3.17: THE CHOICE
3.18: FRACTURES

Fans of the series all laud these eps for their quality. In the third box set of the series, you are left on a cliffhanger as the first episode is the first of part sequence. 3.4 leads off with the very powerful and moving conclusion to that story. It is unforgettable and easily in Farscape's top ten of episodes.

The next episode in the set, Revenging Angel, is one of Farscape's most interesting episodes. Without giving away any of the plot, a large part of the episode is animated. This makes a for a very surreal twist in how you view the series as you see them explore less conventional things that other series would shy away from. Needless to say they succeed brilliantly and make an extremely creative and captivating episode.

The third episode in the set, The Choice, is one of Farscape's more dramatic episodes. It is a very well done story that conveys deep emotion. The style makes you feel deeply for the characters. It is extraordinarily well done. Even the action based side plot brings with it more dark emotion, making this a very powerful plot. No viewer could help being drawn into the episode by the storyline and directing style. This is definitely one of the better episodes.

Finally, finishing out the dvd set is Fractures. This is one of Farscape's best suspense episodes, with a mystery twist. Viewers are kept on the edges of their seats as they watch Moya's crew dealing with one problem after another. It also has the crew finally reunite which makes for interesting emotional reactions. Aside from the main plot though, this episode has extremely important foreshadowing of what comes next in the farscape series.

These four episodes are some of the best that Farscape offers. They are vital to the show's story and are vital for any collection. If you want to see some great TV get this set.
