SHOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

Have to agree with the previous comments (M Came).
I feel that this DVD has been rushed to appease those loyal, yet somewhat foolish Welsh fans who will 'grab' at all things rugby.
I had based this purchase on the Welsh biased 2005 DVD, which included the Ieuan Evans chat with M Ruddock, G Williams and the majority of the welsh squad. it even included the top 10 welsh tries.
This DVD, whereas it does include the BBC1 commentary of the England/ Scotland/ Italy etc is poorly linked by a second rate Richard Burton sound-alike.
If you just want to see the scores from the games, and save yourself some money, i would download BBC iPlayer and that will suffice. If not wait for a few weeks and I'm sure that someone (BBC Wales or even SCRUM V) will produce a better reflection of the historic Welsh GS.

If you like Soccer AM, you'll love this !

This is Hilarious. It's a cross between a comedy show with Lovejoy & the best footie clips. Some of these type of DVD's can just be a bunch of clips which have all been seen before. This is totally different. It's more like a Tim Lovejoy Soccer AM comedy show & even if you're not a fan of Tim's, the clips are refreshingly new (as well as some old classics, given a different twist by Lovejoys usual humour). Highly Recommended, great gift or just to watch & have a laugh on your own. Nice way to support a great charity as well. A fiver well spent.

Wales Grand Slam 2008 - 7 days to glory

Having watched this DVD can anyone explain the title to me. There are no 7 days build up to the grand slam it leaps straight to the day of Wales -v- France from the Ireland game.

The behind the scenes stuff is barely 5-10 minutes long and can in no way be compared to Living with Lions 1997.

Having said that you do get a good highlights package of all the games with some press interviews and a decent narration.

Top Gear At Its Best!!

Both Episodes are amazing!! I Love them both if you love Top Gear this is a must have for any Top Gear Fan!

A perfect tribute to a true legend

I was going to give this 4 stars as it takes a lot for something to be perfect. Then I thought about what more I could actually want from the DVD. I couldn't think of anything, so 4 stars it is.

As with all Arsenal DVDs, the production quality and the look of the DVD is excellent. So it makes it a pleasure to watch straight away.

Combining a newly recorded, truthful and reminiscent Henry interview with footage of the great man's best moments this DVD is a must for all Arsenal/Henry fans and is one that can be watched again in 10 years time and still have the same effect. With added comments and praise from legends such as Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp, Bob Wilson, Lee Dixon, Nigel Winterburn, Martin Keown plus many more including of course - Arsene Wenger.

If im honest, when I first saw this reviewed, I found it funny that the club were still making money from Thierry Henry nearly a year after his departure but it was well worth it and Im glad they did. Especially at this price, this is a must buy. The word legend is banded around a lot but"Thierry Henry: Legend" could not be more true.

Excellent Guide to improving your game

I bought this DVD for my father who already has a handicap of 12. He used to play off scratch but stopped playing along time ago when he started a family. Since taking up golf again for the last few months he has had a problem with his swing and other small parts of this game. Since watching the dvds his handicap went down to 8 after 1 game and is improving even more now, his swing problems have been sorted and is enjoying the game even more now. He has found this to be a very informative and well worth watching. Anyone wanting to improve their game should look to David Leadbetter to help improve their game.

So what was and what is still with it when it comes to football violence. I was there in the 1980s watching West Ham, and yes they had a well organised and professional firm. The top boys are probably not here, but although working class they were not 'chavs'. You see in those days everyone wanted to look like a golfer, all Pringle and Lyle and Scott. Mainly v-neck sweaters and training shoes. The escort infiltration techniques are explained here and how to avoid train fares, there is also an examination of disturbance techniques in Manchester, especailly useful if you are outnumbered as they were. Some nice infiltration into Victoria and how to deal when the other firms get 'mobbed-up'. Some fighting requirements are also outlined, funnily enough there was no strict demand to be a great fighter more the quality to stand there and take it was the order of the day. In Sheffield the plans seem to come togther and the full city centre chase is shown. All in all a fine historical record of the casual football hooligan at his finest.

Watch Arsenal having their noses rubbed in it ! A real GLORY GLORY night !

What a game. Poor old Arsene. Arsenal were completely outclassed in this game which underlined Tottenham as the top club in London for 2008. Arsene picked a team that he thought would win but who proved woefully inadequate to the task. Humiliation is understating the way in which Arsenal were taken apart by a Tottenham team superior in every department. Buy this DVD & relive Arsenal's bitter tears every day of the week. What a great time it is to be a Spurs fan - & what an awful time to be a gooner. Bleat all you like Arsenal fans, 2008 is set to be yet another season where they have an empty trophy cabinet - & a year in which Spurs have a trophy, and the memory of Arsenal's humiliation in this game to go with it. Arsenal should now move back to Woolwich in South London where they came from & find rivals more appropriate with their performance in this game - Charlton & Millwall. They might find a place there to build a stadium which has some atmosphere - unlike their current home.

If you own a DVD player then you should have a copy of this.
It is quite simply the best sport DVD I have ever seen.

Highs, lows, pain, pleasure, humour, pathos; it is all here.
From the changing room pre-match with the soundtrack of one of the players vomiting, to the Dodie Weir stuff.
After listening to Jim Telfer I was quite happy to go out and play the Springboks. All of them.
It really is the best.

"Review????"

How can anyone"review" this unreleased DVD? Far too much spare time on their hands!

Lots of action but sparse on facts

2007 was one of the most interesting Formula 1 seasons in recent times. The championship went down to the final laps of the final race where 3 drivers all had chances to win the title. It was a controversial season featuring the spying saga between McLaren and Ferrari, and a season that welcomed Lewis Hamilton into the sport and saw Kimi Räikkönen finally crowned World Champion. For this I think it is worth buying the DVD because 2007 was a season of highs and lows, and was a season to remember.

However the review is not the best review ever as it seems to deviate from the successful style used in past years. Again the producers feel the need to add unnecessary music tracks to the action at some of the races, and they tend to not inform the viewer of the timing of events. The season preview at the beginning is terrible as it doesn't describe the rule changes, it hardly makes reference to the post Schumacher era, and the review seems to be focused more on action rather than telling the facts or contextualising them. This is highlighted by qualifying being very poorly covered in a style similar to the review in 2006 with drivers talking over their qualifying laps at some of the grands prix - whilst this can be interesting, the viewer is not informed of how the other drivers performed in the qualifying sessions, which means at the start of races one has no idea of which positions the main drivers started from making the races confusing. Further to this there are very few interviews with the drivers before and after the races, the focus seems to be on playing a clip of the podium before moving onto the next race! The review DVDs seem to have become more emotive over the years, and this means that this DVD may not fully reflect the story of the season factually. Little reference is made to the spy saga and its huge ramifications, and the fact that if McLaren had not lost their points in the saga they would have won the constructors championship. No mention is made to the fact that effectively the title was finally given to Räikkönen at court in November weeks after the final race. I think too much time was spent on the first races, leaving the crucial final races of the season rushed. However the exclusive onboard footage is fantastic as some of it did not appear on TV. The special features are not outstanding; the highlights of these are the interview with Sebastian Vettel and Gerhard Berger and the interview with Lewis Hamilton which are both good.

Overall this DVD has many shortcomings but the 2007 season was a classic and this is the only DVD on the market to review the 2007 season. This makes it worthwhile to buy.

4/10. Less interesting than watching 90 minutes of an inconsequential end of season La Liga match

As a football supporter and a fan of daring and original cinema I was genuinely excited at the prospect of Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno's 21st Century Portrait of Zinedine Zidane. With 17 cameras trained on the great French midfielder, I was expecting a truly revealing insight into the mind of a professional sportsmen - at least that's what the filmmakers have sold this film as. Instead we only see what we already know footballers do: sweat and spit alot, harry opponents, foul, dribble and snipe at the ref. In terms of sporting insight we certainly understand less about Zidane's famed footballing intelligence than we would be watching the game on television. By focusing on the player only, we can't see how his contribution affects the game globally, what marks him out a master tactician.

The filmmakers seem to have gambled on Zidane's iconic, brooding look on carrying the film alone, buoyed by some moody incidental music by Scottish post rockers Mogwai. But the dirge-like score is less interesting than the sound of the crowds watching the game, that have seemingly been mixed with more thought than the images themselves. We are treated to a few of Zidane's words - albeit in subtitle only - in specific reference to the ways that the noise from the spectators permeates the player's consciousness. More insight like this might have raised this experiment above the mundane, but unfortunately such pearls of wisom are in a distinct minority. In all, this is exceptionally tedious. Less interesting, in fact, than watching the full 90 minutes of an inconsequential end of season La Liga match - which this was.

Pure Clarkson, no substitutes accepted

Compared to his great work in Top Gear I haven't been completely impressed with his other DVD's. I enjoyed this one for several reasons. Firstly, they're clearly using the Production Crew from Top Gear, which is especially evident in both the music and the high-quality camerawork. There are also some amusing Top Gear-style bits. Such as a pretty pathetic race between a G-Whiz and an Alpine.

One of my favourite parts is a race between Sabine Schmidt and The Stig - something I'd been hoping they'd do on Top Gear for ages now. It's also littered with Clarkson's opinions on different supercars. It was Clarkson's commentary that made me pay more attention to cars, so I really enjoyed it here.

In summary, it's a pleasant way to pass the time until Top Gear returns for another series. If you're an"Eco-Mentalist" (to quote Clarkson), or you jsut can't stand the man, then don't buy this DVD. If you're a fan of Clarkson's work, then I recommend it.

Great content, pitiful DVD compilation

Yep, same problem here - the challenges are 'interleaved' such that one challenge is interrupted halfway through by the start of the next challenge, which is in turn interrupted halfway through by the resumption of the first challenge, after which the second challenge resumes..... you get the picture. But if this wasn't bad enough, the beginning of each chapter isn't even aligned with the start of a challenge, or even the start of one 'section' of a challenge.... aaaaaargh!

Just as well then that the content is so utterly hilarious.

BBC please take note and make a better job of presenting"Challenges 2"!

It's two-and-a-half stars really - five for content and zero for presentation - but I wouldn't want to put anyone off unduly, as it's still worth fighting the DVD to get the very enjoyable programme out of it.

The glorious redemption

Finally, after 31 years of waiting, Manchester United won the UEFA Champions League again. In addition to that they won the domestic double - both the FA Cup and the Premiership. This video takes you through"The Great Journey" every step of the way. Every goal scored, every game won. It is a must for all true Manchester United fans and as a loyal Man U fan for as long as I can remember, I recommend it greatly.

Timeless classic

I've watched this DVD too many times. The road to Istanbul the final everything about this DVD is perfect. If your looking to buy this DVD do it you'll watch it over and over. It still brings a smile to my face.
