Review for Wales Grand Slam 2008 - 7 Days to Grand Slam Glory!:
Mighty Welsh Dragon Breathes Fire Once More
Wow what a season for Welsh rugby and this two hour DVD captures perfectly the highlights of the five victories on the pitch as well as some of the behind the scenes tension and excitement as Wales rejuvenated under Gatland, Edwards and Howley swept all before them. I absolutely loved this, and have watched it three times already in the four days since it arrived, and cannot imagine me tiring of it any time soon. I enjoyed the 2005 Grand Slam DVD review with then Man of the Tornament Martyn Williams interviewed by Ieuan Evans but this format works even better I beleive with an overview from the Welsh wizard himeslf Shane Williams whom is so modest in his commentary, in contrast to his world class performances on the pitch which won him the 2008 Man of the Tournament award as well as the deserved accolade from many critics that he is currently the best player in the World. The DVD captures what rugby and the Grand Slam means to a passionate rugby nation on the day of the French match when no amount of rain can dampen the spirit and expectation of the fans, and their desire to see the boys as they make their way through Cardiff to the ground on the coach. Then you have the poignant sight of Manon and Gwenan, the daughters of one of the greatest heroes of both Welsh rugby and culture, Ray Gravell trying to catch rain drops before the team arrives at the Millennium Stadium. At half time with the game far from won, who else but Shaun Edwards to rally our boys and remind them that just another 40 minutes of pain and putting their bodies on the line will see them write their names in history. Then having won the Slam, the euphoric atmosphere both on the pitch (which my son and I were lucky enough to witness live) and in the changing room after is priceless and you insticntively sense that these boys didn't just want to win it for themselves, but also for each other because the cammaraderie is so apparent, despie the intense rivalry that existed during the tournament from the twenty nine in the squad for the starting fifteen shirts, and of course Gatland dealt with some of those challenges so superbly by playing in most games both Hook and Steve Jones, Huw Bennett and Matthew Rees, Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel, Gethin Jenkins and Duncan Jones, and so on, These boys are now deservedly legends taking their place alongside the 70's greats so many of us grew up with and adored. I loved every moment of this fitting tribute to the playing and coaching heroes of Welsh rugby's tenth Grand Slam.83

Play Better Golf with Justin Rose
Want to cut shots off your game...then this is the DVD that will do it. I watch a section of this DVD almost everytime before I play a round of golf. You can get right in to any lesson, and it covers nearly them all. It's a great way to brush up on any aspect of your game and Justin is really excellent at teaching. On top of that, there is also the added bonus of a whole range of lessons from top teaching pro's. If this doesn't improve your game, nothing will. Most of my friends have already bought it and are really pleased with it.87

Excellent veiwing for anyone interested in motorcycles
It's a little American, a little dated, and a little bit contrived at times. None of this detracts from the place in motorcycling lore that this film became. It is made by people that care about motorcycling in a way that most have forgotten today - there's nothing judgemental about any particular style of bike or branch of motorcycling sport. Instead, you get a view of how bikes became part of our culture and, to many people, even a way of life.Treat yourself to some biking history. Especially good if you don't get to ride your bike in the winter months!

Review for Shaolin Warrior - The Way Of Qi Gong:
It's excellent for people like me who are looking for a dynamic stretching exercise that calms the mind as well.
Some parts of the warm-up routine should be labelled: 'these stretches are done by an advanced martial artist, don't try this at home'. This is why I only give four stars. All in all the routine is short, so it would have been easy to add a beginner's routine or tips on how to substitute some stretches.

Sober, good"follow me" course
I really like the no-nonsense approach of this DVD. The shifu shows the exercises and tells you how to synchronize breathing and movement. It's the 'follow me' approach to qi gong and martial arts. Try to follow the shifu's moves as closely as you can and you'll discover the rest for yourself. It's excellent for people like me who are looking for a dynamic stretching exercise that calms the mind as well.

1 minute left.......
I think every Liverpool fan remembers this and certainly every Arsenal fan does. It was when McMahon was going round the Liverpool team and telling them that there was only 1 minute left. That made it even better. It certainly was"up for grabs now". Fantastic match that will stay in my memory forever. Especially as Arsenal played a 5-3-2, strange when they had to win 2-0!90

Review for WWE - Shawn Michaels - Heartbreak And Triumph:
Five years later, one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) of all time is honoured yet again. This time with a 3-Disc set that is a proper biography and look back on Michaels' career. And before you ask `is this on a par with From the Vault?', I will answer with a definitive `yes'.
Heartbreak and Triumph is yet another high-quality life-story. It's very similar to the stories of Eddie Guerrero and Bret Hart, in that it's a tale that's full of struggle, unforgettable career moments, hard times, honesty, complicated issues and light at the end of the tunnel. So you have the basic ingredients for a really captivating tale. And the fact that the centre of it all is one of the most phenomenal (and controversial) stars in wrestling's history...can only add more fuel to the fire.
They're some absolutely great highlights throughout the main program. These consist of Shawn's beginnings, the formation of the Midnight Rockers with Marty Jannetty, his Intercontinental Championship reigns, the Boyhood Dream that lead him to the WWE title, the formation of the Clique and D-Generation X, and of course, being the pioneer of the Ladder Match and Hell in a Cell. But the moments that stand out above everything else are Shawn's struggles throughout his career and in real life.
This documentary doesn't pull that many punches regarding certain things. It's no secret that Shawn's reputation was once that of an arrogant individual, so none of the interviewees bother to hide that. His struggles as WWE Champion in 1996 during WCW's dominance, the reputation of the Clique and very controversial curtain call, his drug problems, real-life hospitalization, D-X breaking all kinds of taboos and intense animosity with Bret Hart all remind us what HBK was truly like behind-the-scenes.
And then of course, there's the Montreal Screwjob from Survivor Series 1997. After watching the Bret Hart story so many times, it's very interesting for Shawn to give his side of the story. I completely understand Shawn's reasons (and Vince and Triple H's for that matter) why he did what he did. And on one level, I do agree with them. But what I don't agree with, is how they all overlook the exact details of Bret's leaving, his loyalty to the company and his reasons for not wanting to drop the belt to HBK. I also dislike how Triple H and Gerald Brisco try and make out that Bret Hart was the bad guy at the heart of it all, even though everyone's entitled to their own opinion regarding the whole sordid affair.
Shawn Michaels is a person you can actually sympathise, though. His devastating back injury which lead to the end of his era and a forced early retirement is truly heartbreaking to watch. The fact that his drug problems hadn't gone away either, really makes you feel sorry for him. To hear Shawn tell of his depression, falling out with HHH and impending self-destruction is so frighteningly real. That's when you discover that Shawn really is a good man at heart and it's thankful and heart-warming to relive the tale of his finding religion. His miraculous comeback at SummerSlam 2002 is a moment of true happiness, as his redemption and evolution into a better person had come full circle.
The documentary closes with the most important career moments from his comeback, such as his epic WrestleMania classics with Chris Jericho and John Cena, his program and real-life heat with Hulk Hogan, bizarre feud with Vince McMahon and the rebirth of D-Generation X. Heartbreak and Triumph ends on a high note, too. A once-arrogant yet phenomenally talented man broken down and rebuilt as the same awesome athlete, but also as a man who's changed so much for the better, is the moral of the story. And it's one that is so inspirational, and makes me prouder than ever to be a fan of Shawn Michaels.
Like the main program, none of the special features disappoint. There are some awesome deleted scenes, a hilarious Larry King segment from the Showstopper's feud with Hulk Hogan, his `Tell Me A Lie' music video, a 1994 Heartbreak Hotel segment, some great extra stories and a couple of nice Easter Eggs to boot.
All the extra matches occupy the spaces of discs 2 and 3. And none of the matches on From The Vault are included here, which is excellent as it not only preserves the value of From The Vault, but also allows us to be treated to some of the Heartbreak Kid's other classic matches. These include some awesome Rockers matches, his 1995 Royal Rumble victory, forgotten IC title classics, and godlike half-hour/hour long encounters with the likes of the British Bulldog, Kurt Angle, Triple H and John Cena. Though I really would've loved to have seen his casket match with the Undertaker, his second ladder match with Razor Ramon, his SummerSlam `96 bout against Vader, battles with Sycho Sid and WrestleMania 19 encounter with Chris Jericho, I can't complain. Each match included here is staggeringly high in quality and none of them disappoint.
In closing, Heartbreak and Triumph: The Shawn Michaels Story is truly essential. All fans of HBK will lap it up. Make sure you have a space on your shelves to slide this next to From The Vault. This is not only the perfect compliment to that release, but an excellent addition to your wrestling DVD collection on its own.

Review for WWE - Shawn Michaels - Heartbreak And Triumph:
The perfect compliment to From The Vault
From The Vault: Shawn Michaels was simply one of the most outstanding DVDs that WWE had ever released. Chronicling five of the Heartbreak Kid's greatest matches, featuring exclusive interviews with the man himself, with so many extra segments, pay-per-view vignettes, a smattering of Shawn's childhood and beginnings from `Before They Were Superstars' among other real gems, you had one of the best wrestling releases ever.Five years later, one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) of all time is honoured yet again. Review for Wimbledon - A History Of The Championship [2001]:
The extras were a huge let down and frankly not worth having as the video clips therein were a simple repetition of material already on the dvd. The four episode format also led to some repetition and a lack of chronological continuity at times.
All in all worth having for but only as an introduction to the history of Wimbledon. A definitive dvd has yet to be made.

Review for Wimbledon - A History Of The Championship [2001]:
a missed opportunity but worth buying
This dvd is a missed opportunity - essentialy it comprises four episodes that were screened on the BBC during Wimbledon fortnight two years ago or so. I would have liked more concentration on great matches and rare archive material. Some of the archive material was pretty good and some rare material was discovered but there should have been more. The picture quality is superb. The narration I feel is a bit simplistic and appears to be aimed at the third form, rather than at adults. I would have liked more analysis about the playing styles of the great champions, what made them so great and what their playing weaknesses were. The extras were a huge let down and frankly not worth having as the video clips therein were a simple repetition of material already on the dvd. The four episode format also led to some repetition and a lack of chronological continuity at times.

Review for Liverpool - The Treble [2001]:
An Impressive Achievement!
I'm a Reds supporter so this DVD shows the definitive record of the 2000/2001 season as the club's manager Gerard Houllier has guided them to a famous treble by winning the League Cup, FA Cup and the UEFA Cup which is a feat in itself. The campaign also see the Reds netted 127 goals in all 63 games throughout the season but there is plenty of highlights on offer here which includes a penalty shootout triumph over Birmingham City which secured the League Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, glorious league doubles over Manchester United and Everton respectively and the away fixture against Everton in the league in particular had a dramatic twist in the end with Gary McAllister scoring a last gasp winner from a free-kick in that match, star striker Michael Owen finished as top scorer for the season scored two hat-tricks against Aston Villa and Newcastle United at Anfield and a superb brace against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final in Cardiff, two other strikers also netted a hat-trick each with Emile Heskey away at Derby County in the league and Robbie Fowler in a 8-0 thrashing of Stoke City in a League Cup away tie, other highlights include a thrilling 5-4 win against Alaves in the UEFA Cup Final and a 4-0 win away at Charlton Athletic on the final day of the league season secured a place in the Champions League for the following season. This DVD has highlights of all the goals from all the games from the Premiership, UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup with interviews from the players and manager, but it's well produced with commentary for each match provided by BBC, ITV and Sky Sports with two hours full of action, drama and suspense. I can recommend this DVD to any Liverpool FC supporter who want to see achievements like this and it is well worth watching again and again and it is more appropriate than watching Manchester United's treble winning version of 1998/1999. Praise for the Hitman
Well, Ricky, you came but you did not conquer, but let's remember, you fought the Pound-for-Pound. How many fighters gave it some welly like you did? Mr Cortez was in that ring fighting you also, let's not forget. For those, like me, who stopped up until the wee hours of Sunday Morning to watch your charged performance, we were not disappointed. You were elbowed constantly and... The list goes on! Hail the Hitman! Keep off them pies if you're going down to light-welter, like we all want you to. Oh yes, and I recommend you all buy this DVD!
