Oriental delight !

Excellent, in a word ! The only criticism being very little shown of the opening ceremony. However every goal is shown as well as brief highlights. Chapters on every round (if you just want to watch parts of the tournament). The cosmopolitan atmosphere is captured in this production and the quality is there to be seen. Extra's include top-ten of:- Goal celebrations, skills and a page of stats to suit your middle-of-the-road anorak !! Watch, relive (over 2 hours) and enjoy. Terrific quality and extremely watchable !

Great, Unless you Were Actually There

Ok, this was the greatest FA Cup Final of modern times. As one of the Liverpool fans lucky enough to have been at the great match, it is an event I will tell my grandchildren about. However, no DVD can ever capture what it was like.

The commentary is not the BBC original which (unsuprisingly) is the best and it fails to capture the wonderful spirit of the West Ham supporters (nothing but respect for them) or the deathly silence at the Liverpool end before Gerrard's second equaliser, as no one could see a way out. The game was wonderful, but the event was even better, and that simply cannot translate to the screen.

Having watched the wonder of Istanbul on TV, I find I can return to that easily, but having been there for this one, this DVD is just nothing to can compare to it.

As for the game? Liverpool were LUCKY! Every West Ham player deserved a winners medal for an extrordinary performance against all odds. Apart from Gerrard and maybe Hamman, the Liverpool team desrved to be on the losing team. But from the own goal to Ashton's poached strike to Cisse bringing the Reds back into it, Konchesky's fluke effort, Gerrard's heroic stunner in stoppage time (Ricky Villa eat your heart out!), Reina tipping the ball onto the post in the last minute of extra time, Harewood's miss and then the penalties, the game had everything.

Great game, but if you were in Cardiff on that memorable day, you might find this DVD underwhelming. But if you do buy it, freeze frame at 57:50 to see me on the side of the picture (red hair and dusty coloured jacket) doing my nut! Da da da, da da da, I fell in to the burning ring of fire...

Adore Aintree?

If you love the Grand National, you'll love this DVD. In particular, it contains all three of Red Rum's winning races and I'm not aware that this footage is available anywhere else. When you see him flying towards the winning post"like a fresh horse in great style", as described by Peter O'Sullevan - not once - but three times, if you're not already a huge fan of this exceptional horse you soon will be. It features other Aintree triumphs of course, including Bob Champion's memorable win on Aldaniti.

Praise for the Hitman

Well, Ricky, you came but you did not conquer, but let's remember, you fought the Pound-for-Pound. How many fighters gave it some welly like you did? Mr Cortez was in that ring fighting you also, let's not forget. For those, like me, who stopped up until the wee hours of Sunday Morning to watch your charged performance, we were not disappointed. You were elbowed constantly and... The list goes on! Hail the Hitman! Keep off them pies if you're going down to light-welter, like we all want you to. Oh yes, and I recommend you all buy this DVD!

Gooners on Disc

An excellent, formative study of the Greatest Football Team on Earth. Nostalgic viewing from the Highbury Stadium over the years. Watch as the"Gunners" beat such rivals as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspurs and Chelsea. Laugh with pride as the fans sing from the North Bank. Nearly 100 years of the best team . Own it!

HBK Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels is one of the best, if not the best, wrestlers in the history of wrestling. He is everything that people say he is. He is the type of wrestler who can make any match look good and take any wrestler (not even the best one) and make them shine. Without a doubt, one of my top three favorite wrestlers of all time and quite possibly the best of all time. As much as Shawn loves the spotlight, his life was not all that shining. This DVD set chronicles the start, rise and fall of Michaels' career to his incredible comeback story. It also features some of HBK's rear classic matches, even some that have never been released on DVD or anywhere else before this. NOW, all of these matches are worth viewing more than once.

Matches: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Shawn Michaels. This was HBK's first match and while it is very short, it is nice to see Shawn when he was starting out. I am giving this 10/10 because it was cool seeing Shawn in his first televised match.

The Midnight Rockers vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers-AWA Tag Team Championship Match. This is not the bloodbath match from"From The Vault" but it is the one where the Rockers win the Tag titles. 8/10

The Midnight Rockers vs. Super Ninja & Ninja Go. The Rockers's first title defense and never a dull moment from them. Great aural offence by both teams in this one. 9.5/10

The Rockers vs. The Brainbusters. This was the early time of Michaels' career in WWE. This is a solid contest and shows the great improvement of the Rockers. A great spot that see's HBK and Marty Jannetty both do the super kick to The Brianbusters at the same time which is just so cool to see. 10/10

The Rockers vs. The Hart Foundation-WWF Tag Team Championship(2 out of 3 falls). This is the forgotten match that was never aired where the Rockers win the tag titles. I enjoyed this match but the top rope malfunctioned kept the match and the decision from staying. This is a Hard hitting battle and is and was impossible to find before this DVD realese. 9.5/10

The Rockers vs. Orient Express. This was the opener of the Royal Rumble from 1991 and the match that stole the show. 10/10

Shawn Michaels vs. The British Bulldog-WWF Intercontinental Championship Match. This was the first time that HBK won a singles title and this is a nice fast-paced contest that is surely another forgotten battle. 9.5/10

1995 Royal Rumble Match where Shawn Michaels enters #1 and wins the Rumble. I was happy to see this one and this is a true highlight of HBK's career as he became the first man to go coast to coast in Rumble history. 9/10

Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Jarrett-WWF Intercontinental Championship Match. This is a forgotten classic. One of the greatest Intercontinental Championship Matches of all time that people might have forgotten about. One of Michaels' and Jarrett's best matches in WWE history. 10/10

Shawn Michaels vs. The British Bulldog-WWF Championship Match. This match was the main event of the King of the Ring 1996. A good storyline, solid in-ring storytelling resulting in another solid but forgotten contest. 10/10

Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H-World Heavyweight Championship Match. This is from RAW on December 29 of 2003 and what a match it was. The only disappointment about this match is the ending. 10/10

The Rockers vs. La Resistance. The Rockers Reunion and even though the match does not last that long, it was great to see Michaels and Jannetty team up together after so many years of not working together. 8/10

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle. The WrestleMania 21 rematch from Vengeance 2005. Another classic delivered by Angle and Michaels that is just as good as their first encounter. 10/10

Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena. Another WrestleMania rematch, this time from WrestleMania 23. However, this one heavily made up and topped their WrestleMania match. The best HBK/Cena encounter from their brief rivalry during the year, as these two went close to an hour. One of the longest Bell to Bell matches that we don't see often anymore. 10/10 Cena's best match

Although, some fans want to see some other of Shawn's classic matches (like the one with Chris Jericho at WM XIX or Hell In a Cell with Triple H, The Rockers' match at WM VII), I liked the fact that most of the matches on here are some of the rear classic matches that are very difficult to find. Shawn Michaels just might be the BEST and I dare anyone to tell me or that man himself that he is not.

A Must Have for all true wrestling fans.

Good honest fishing fare

Mick Brown is a realistic angler and it is this side of his personality that shines through in this pike fishing journey. Not everyone is going to throw the line at the water and pull out a pike first time and Mick knows that. With his helpful advice and humerous anecdotes he makes the mighty pike accessible for all. I have not done much fishing in my time but Mick makes you want to grab a rod and go out in all weathers to catch this elusive beast of the British waters! And with Micks common sense advice you may even land a beastie or two! A lot of fishing DVDs are vehicles for the presenters, Mick prefers to let the fishing show through which is what is often lacking. I am thoroughly impressed with this DVD and would reccomend it to Anglers of all ages and abilities. C'mon get Micks DVD and go get that pike!!

Solid & honest documentary

Many sports documentaries act almost as previews to up and coming tournaments and have a propaganda style quality to them. What I found quite refreshing about Sweet Chariot 2 was the honesty and detail contained within the dressing room conversations and interviews with Brian Ashton among others.The detail is really impressive without seeming artificial and should England defy all critics and shock the World in France 2007 it may stand as a real testament to them. As an ESRC member I guess I would say that, but compared to England soccer equivalents (Graham Taylor & Phil Neal et.al in the nineties) it is way ahead.

"returning fly fisher"

"Inspirational" I used to fly fish some years back and have recently reaquainted myself with the sport. Cannot say I ever caught many fish as I was basically self taught. Came across Hywel's DVD's whilst surfing, bought"the main course" and pretty soon"just desserts", they have revolutionised my techniques, casting and all other aspects. If you are a novice or an acomplished fly fisher, I feel sure you will find something to educate or improve your fishing; whether it's from tying a knot, to casting a double haul. Brilliant, tight lines.

Eleventh Heaven...from some hellish moments.

Despite an FA cup win 2004 wasn't the greatest of recent seasons for United. Rio Ferdinands' well documented failure to attend a drugs test led to the start of an 8 month ban from January. Then United's league season fell apart. some unconvincing wins were followed by surprise defeats to Wolves and Middlesbrough.
As usual the end of season review is well produced and features interviews with the majority of first team players (Phil and Gary Neville appearing most).
Best feature is the highlights from the 1993 summer tour to the USA which saw some superb goals and the first glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo tormenting the United defence while playing for Sporting Lisbon.

Same again!!!

If u have THE BOB WOOLMER WAY 2005 do not buy this. It the same, just takes up more room as its now been split in to 3 dvds.But if u dont have 2005 its a good basic training set.Bob Woolmer, legend R.I.P.

Another dissapointing season but one Spurs could only dream of

The dvd summary looks on the brightside to another dissapointing season that brought no trophies (ignoring the ladies), but perhaps the season shall be looked on with more fondness in the future if arsenals 'young guns' do indeed go on and become world-class like their predecessors...

Well produced like all of arsenal's season review dvds, the film is still full of high points and lovely goals (Like Robin VP's incredible volley) from a season Spurs can only dream of, especially given the absense of Henry and RVP for much of the season.
Well done too to the ladies team aswell; an unbelievable achievement to win four trophies.

Not as good as i hoped

This dvd does cover most of the greatest goals, great saves etc in various top tens.I was dissapointed that not enough was shown on the Dutch team of 1974 ie there is little footage of their games with Argentina and with Brazil. Another fault i found with this dvd was that at certain times instead of just being shown the chosen highlight the makers have decided to add pointless media graphics over the top of the highlight there by in my opinion ruining it.
Another thing missing from this dvd was in depth coverage of the Italy v Brazil game from the 1982 world cup which has gone down as one of the greatest ever matches ever played in the world cup.
This dvd would be useful for someone who has never seen any world cup classic goals and such before but if you have then most of what is on offer here is nothing you havent seen before on tv.
On the whole this dvd is okay for the current price but i feel the makers could have gone more in depth on certain things and cut out the pointless media graphics.

Not Vintage but worth a look

So it's that time of year to sit back and enjoy the best of another hectic season at Manchester United. There are some great games and goals featured on this DVD and it has plenty of interviews.

Criticisms
- Gary Nevilles celebrations against Liverpool are strangely omitted
- Nothing from Ronaldo or the injured players (Smith,Scholes,Heinze,Ole) which would have been nice

So thats not bad at all. I personally found Alex Ferguson's droning on about having a young team tiresome (VDS, Neville, Rio, Heinze,Scholes,Giggs,Ruud) and his claims that United finished the season the well gloss over the pathetic showings against Chelsea and Boro. However that is not so much a fault of the DVD.

If you like United then this is a must buy, if anything you can show the grankids how good Rooney was this season.
