Like the first season it is full of interesting information, including the first attempt at a England - France tunnel in 1880, the make up of the white chalk cliffs, sea habitats, beach side resorts, ect. Series 2 contains 8, one hour episodes on 3 DVDs. Well worth the price.

Review for Coast 2 - Complete BBC TV Series 2 [2005]:
If you liked Coast 1 get Coast 2
I got hooked on the first series, after buying the dvd set for only 11gb. Seeing Coast season 2 on Amazon.co.uk, I had to get it, but wondered why they would do the coast of the UK again, and if it would be as good. This season has the same crew, this time the dark haired scottish guy (sorry I cant think of the names)is hosting, unbrella man does the geography stories. dosnt seem as rushed as the first season, but they had to get a lot cramed into that season.Like the first season it is full of interesting information, including the first attempt at a England - France tunnel in 1880, the make up of the white chalk cliffs, sea habitats, beach side resorts, ect. Review for The First Eden: The Mediterranean World and Man - Complete Series:
Overall a truly inspirational series which encouraged my fascination with the Mediterranean. The book of the series is also worth having and contains a great bibliography of related subject matter. Also worth reading is Eric Newby's brilliant 'On the shores of the Mediterranean'. The Mediteranean - truly the First Eden.

Review for The First Eden: The Mediterranean World and Man - Complete Series:
Inspirational series
I remember watching this series back in 1987 in my gap year between school and university. It proved inspirational. Within a few weeks I decided to retrace Attenborough's steps by going to Egypt, marvelling at a fair number of the sites he visited. There is much beautiful film from many interesting locations around the Mediterranean. The series is much more anthropological than most of his others which could put some off but for me was one of the principal points of interest. The final episode about the despoilation of the Med is predictably dispiriting.Overall a truly inspirational series which encouraged my fascination with the Mediterranean. The book of the series is also worth having and contains a great bibliography of related subject matter. Also worth reading is Eric Newby's brilliant 'On the shores of the Mediterranean'. Review for Ross Kemp on Gangs: El Salvador - Cape Town - St. Louis - Moscow:
This is no sugar coated story of gangs. We learn about the history of the gangs, the initiation tests and the reason for gang rivalry. The scary thing is that often there is no real reason for gang members killing each other or each others family members.
The filming is equally as shocking as the gang's stories as we see shots of dead bodies lying on the side of the road or being loaded into the back of vans to be taken to the morgue.
I didn't expect this show to be such an honest and to-the-point portrayal of gangs and it is hard to comprehend coming from a completely different culture. The lack of future for these gang memmber is what is also quite frightening and it is almost as if they have accepted that they will, at some point, be killed by a rival gang.

Brutally Honest
I have seen the El Salvador and Cape Town episodes and I was shocked on what an honest account this programme was on gangs. Ross Kemp gets right to the heart of the gang culture and often appears to put himself in danger purely to try and understand the gangs ethics. This is no sugar coated story of gangs. Award winning biography. Doesn't get any better than this !
At last - my prayers have been answered. I have had this on VHS since it came out in '88. Alot of fans have been waiting for the DVD release (not bootleg) to appreciate both the documentary and music qualities. For anyone with the slightest interest in modern music or cinematography, this is a must for your collection. It must have been very hard for Bruce Weber to portray one of his music idols in such an honest way. But it works and allows an underlying story of the effects of heroin addiction to come through ( I won't say any more and let you find out yourself). They should put a portrait of Chet aged 56 in all schools. If that does put them off hard drugs, nothing will.

Review for The Great Global Warming Swindle:
My view, the result of a considerable amount of research, is simple. Yes, the climate is changing. However it has been changing (getting cooler or warmer at different times) since before the horse and cart and there have been warm periods before that are considerably warmer than it is now. The effects of natural cycles and phenomena are much much greater than anything man has done with cars and general industrialisation. No amount of reducing our (I hate using this misused phrase but do it for illustration)"carbon footprint" is going to have a measurable effect, as we are trying to change something that we have not caused in the first place. In fact if we were able to succeed in changing things there have been studies done that show that it would have an adverse affect.
You may ask why more scientists do not come forward and go against the commonly held view of global warming. Unfortunately the politically driven climate debate has all but corrupted the scientific peer review process. If scientists are offered a large amount of money to show that we may be influencing global warming (but nothing if they do not) then guess what they will do. Suddenly scientists have funding!
HOWEVER, this does not mean that we should abuse energy and other resources. But do not do it thinking that you combating global warming and thus saving the planet because that is so untrue. Do it because it is the sensible thing to do. You will then suddenly find that you are using far less than your so called"green" colleagues and friends.

Review for The Great Global Warming Swindle:
Good documentary
Some good arguments that are much needed to dispel the myths raised by climate alarmists. The reason for giving it four stars rather than five was because the enthusiasm of the programme makers resulted in some of the arguments being presented with a few fairly minor errors which have of course been jumped upon by the green brigade as reasons why the programme should be disregarded. However the basis of the arguments is sound and if you have not seen this then do watch it.My view, the result of a considerable amount of research, is simple. Yes, the climate is changing. Review for Concert For George [2003]:
Something Fab!!
The initial Indian music set the scene with a nice contemplative spiritual mood. Monty Python then buggered it up with some very funny nonsense about lumberjacks. Then the rock side appeared. No long speeches - just the music and what fantastic music it is. George on his day was every bit as good a songwriter as L&M as this set shows. I note that Joe Brown was fantastic but did not make eye contact with McCartney. Still that's not what they were there for. Overall this is a fantastically enjoyable DVD celebrating the music of a great songwriter-musician. Well worth the entrance fee.Sadly all things must pass. Enjoy what you can whilst you can. Make it a better world - you'll come back to it.

The inter city firm tactics and techniques.
So what was and what is still with it when it comes to football violence. I was there in the 1980s watching West Ham, and yes they had a well organised and professional firm. The top boys are probably not here, but although working class they were not 'chavs'. You see in those days everyone wanted to look like a golfer, all Pringle and Lyle and Scott. Mainly v-neck sweaters and training shoes. The escort infiltration techniques are explained here and how to avoid train fares, there is also an examination of disturbance techniques in Manchester, especailly useful if you are outnumbered as they were. Some nice infiltration into Victoria and how to deal when the other firms get 'mobbed-up'. Some fighting requirements are also outlined, funnily enough there was no strict demand to be a great fighter more the quality to stand there and take it was the order of the day. In Sheffield the plans seem to come togther and the full city centre chase is shown. All in all a fine historical record of the casual football hooligan at his finest.93
Review for Rick Stein's French Odyssey : Complete BBC Series:
The food that he prepares during each episode is, as always, wonderful but what stands out is the journey that Rick has through the wonderful South Western French countryside and the people he meets on the way. The whole journey unfolds like a storybook rather than a cookery programme and as indeed the title suggests, it is most certainly an Odyssey and so much better than his previous Seafood Odyssey which took him to various places around the world.
If you want to escape from the hum-drum for a few hours then throw this DVD in the player and relax with a glass of"the red stuff" in one hand and the DVD remote control in the other as you will want to replay all those glorious bits of food and France again and again!

Review for Rick Stein's French Odyssey : Complete BBC Series:
Food escapism at its best
I can't praise this series enough. When it was first broadcast on BBC Television in 2005 I thought it was a very good but after getting the DVD I have to say it is fantastic. I find Rick Stein fascinating particularly as he adds stories or anecdotes about the various dishes that he prepares during the course of his journey from Bordeaux to Marseilles onboard the"Rosa" and the"Anjodi" which incidentally are canal barges. What is also great is that in his quest to get to Marseilles, he does not forget Brittany which gave him so much inspiration during the early days of his seafood restaurant. You can expect to see Rick indulging in great food (eels in cider for example) at truck stops to roadside cafes which highlights the different attitude that the French have for food ie in Britain at a truck stop it would be Beans and egg, beans on toast or just....beans!The food that he prepares during each episode is, as always, wonderful but what stands out is the journey that Rick has through the wonderful South Western French countryside and the people he meets on the way. It's the transfer what lets it down
Apparently these documentaries have been remastered for this DVD, but the quality (especially the picture) still leaves much to be desired. There is enough noise and digital grain to actually spoil the viewing experience slightly - a massive shame as there is some absolutely amazing footage. If this were re-released tomorrow with improved visuals and sound, I'd rush out and buy it all over again... it really is that good. Review for Night Mail - Collector's Edition Presentation Box [1936]:
Not just the Night Mail
Night Mail, which contains several other"shorts" as well as the title film, is a short collection of digitally remastered documentaries made in the 1930s and beyond concerning the travelling postal services on our railways. It is enjoyable to watch - you can almost smell the steam - and to listen to as well, with the characteristic clipped tones of documentary commentaries from the era. I wouldn't call it nostalgic as I wasn't born until the late 1950s, but it does make you feel somewhat wistful for a time when we took pride in our services like the railways and the mail, and importance was attached to them. Other shorts in the DVD depict related topics like the electrification of the Southern Railway.99
Review for A Crude Awakening: the Oil Crash [2006]:
These two men make a documentary that manages to look at both sides of our oil needs and industry while not knocking our addictive behavior towards gasoline.
The film relies on interviews with notable academics, experts and advisors from across the political, corporate and economic spectrum. It has seems like there's no discernible political axe to grind - which makes it all the harder to ignore it's hard to ignore.
The focus of this all is our crude oil dependency, the manner in which access to oil is driving U.S foreign policy, the ubiquitous nature of oil in modern society, the lack of efficient alternatives to petroleum, and the concept of Peak Oil: that once world oil output reaches its maximum peak, recovery will plateau and then begin a permanent decline. Once this decline commences, all hell will break loose with the world economy. Depending on the experts, this decline could already be under way or it could be 20 years away, but it is generally accepted that it is on the horizon.

Peak Oil Film
This is a painstaking documentary about the frighteningly central role of oil in our lives. Made by two Swiss directors, one (Gelpke) with a background in anthropology, economics, war reporting, and science films, and the other (McCormack) who holds an honors degree in Environmental Policy and Management. These two men make a documentary that manages to look at both sides of our oil needs and industry while not knocking our addictive behavior towards gasoline.

Review for The Sorrow and the Pity [1969]:
Great subject...shame about the subtitles
If you are a native English speaker with only a rudimentary knowledge of French as I have, you will struggle with this film. This version was made for English speakers as the subtitles are only when the French or Germans are speaking. But, for some reason, the subtitles drop off or malfunction about 25% of the time. This leaves a very frustrated viewer as entire subjects can be left hanging. The subject matter is excellent though some of the interviews are a bit drawn out. Very artistic filming of those being interviewed which helps make the four hours interesting.

Cybill's star shines bright in series 3
This sitcome just got better with each season and season 3 is one of the best! Cybill gets a starring rle in a rip off of X-Files called Lifeforms, Maryanne is at her most insane with her endless schemes on killing her ex husband 'Dr Dick', and the whole family each get a chance to really shine through.A great series of a great 90's comedy. Highly remommended and roll on season 4!
