The BEST coffee machine in the world

FORGET your expensive £300+ big brand name machines. They make great coffee for sure but so does this brilliant little machine but with much less hassle, with no washing up and coffee that beats that of any high street coffee shop.

The design of this machine has been so well thought out, even down to the holder for your used capsules which has a drip tray included in it so you can throw away your capsules and then pour away the excess down the sink.

This machine has a couple of main competitors - Senseo and Tassimo and seriously, I think this machine blows the others right out of the water. The variety of capsules available beats the Senseo yet matches the Tassimo but the froth that comes on the top of each of the greatest coffees you'll ever taste makes it so much better than the tassimo.

The other thing to mention is the fact that with the other machines you are controlled as to how much coffee is dispensed, often leaving your mug half full. This machine however is entirely manual which is unusual in this world of automation but it is one of the key selling points. You can make your coffee as big or as small as you like without having to faff about like you do the other machines.

My husband is a complete techno-phobe. He can hardly work the telephone but has mastered this machine with immediate ease - its just too simple to mess up.

I cant recommend this enough (as you might have guessed) and wished I had got one ages ago when they first came out.

Basically, dont buy anything else because you will regret it. This is absolutely fantastic and I would urge anyone who is 'ummmming' about whether to buy a machine and not sure which one, to absolutely without reservation go for this unbeatable machine. I LOVE IT!!!!

Poor design and output

Awkwardly designed, - need tiny cups to fit in. The frother is absolute rubbish, filling the cup up with water and a pathetic quality steam. It looks too cheap to be any good, and believe me it certainly is

Fantastic!!

Being new to the coffee machine market, we were baffled by what was out to buy. We saw the advert for the dolce gusto on T.V. and went to look at it in Asda. They had it on offer for £69!! However when we looked at it, the Tassimo was next to it which threw us completely. After much thought and investigation through the internet we decided to stick with our first choice of the gusto. We were not disappointed! So easy to prepare, great choice of coffees (to be fair we usually only drink normal or cappaccino) and ease of use. We produced 2 gorgeous looking coffees in seconds which looked fabulous in the free glass you get with the machine. You can pour as much or as little liquid as you want, and the machine is self cleaning, brilliant when you dont want to start taking the machine apart to clean it. We are now addicted to the machine and can't wait to try the hot chocolate. The capsules are easily available in Asda and you even get a free box when you register the machine with Krups. You will not be disapointed if you are looking for quick tasty coffee prepared easily and without fuss. I would reccommend to anyone. We have even nicknamed ours K-9.

Makes a great cappuccino

I love this machine. if like me you like a mug of coffee the measurements take some working out and you have to remove the tray. When frothing milk, leave the mug underneath and lay a damp cloth underneath as the coffee will keep dripping for a bit. I know this all sounds rather anoying but for a cappaccino with an inch and a half head it is worth it. You also get 18 pods with it that are over £5 in some shops. the only down side is that it is not designed for jugs.

A Good machine for the Money

In spite of previous reviews, we bought this coffee maker a couple of weeks ago and are really pleased with it. Yes, a lot of the machine is made from plastic but what do you expect for the money? If you read the instructions carefully and make sure that you place the coffee jug directly underneath where the coffee comes out it does not spit water everywhere. If you put the milk on before doing anything else, it is nicely heated and can be frothed when the coffee is ready. All in all a very nice cup of coffee, like the ones made in the shops and excellent value for money.

Simply fantastic!!

I have been drinking the best South American coffee since I remember (my first baby bottle had a double-shot of expresso :-)). I have also been using a stove expresso maker since the time I could reach the stove... and let me tell you, this thing is amazing! No plastic-fantastic electronics or electricity need it, just a solid piece of engineering that produces a wonderful cappuccino EVERY time. As for durability, it looks a lot like my other Bialetti (6 cup Moka Express), and that one has been making my expresso twice a day for the last 10 years!!! what else do you want!! Now, for those of you that give a bad review: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!! it's as simple as that. I bought it for my wife on her first mother's day ;-) and she is the happiest mommy now. Finally, do yourself a favor, if you are considering this coffee maker go ahead without fear... you will love it!

Brilliant coffee

I bought this machine 8 months ago; and I must say I am absolutely pleased with it. There are lots of drink choices to choose from; and they all come out wonderfully tasty every time. I am a coffee addict myself, and found that this machine pacifies my cravings. Moreover, it looks really sleek on my kitchen counter.
This is an absolute must have if you are a fan of coffee. Well done Nestle!

Krups XP402040 K2 Espresso Coffee Maker

We read the instructions(which are completely useless and dont make any sense at all..I think the translation is lost)?? We spent a fortune on trying different coffees and I was going to take it back to get a refund.
So after much frustration we sorted it out in our own way.

Buy good coffee ie illy DO NOT STAMP DOWN THE COFFEE AS SUGGESTED...if you do this it will leak..we kept descaling the filter thinking it was blocked but it was because the coffee had been pushed down too hard. just fill up the filter loosely(but not overflowing).
The other thing is between each function let the pump run until it stops!
You just have to make sure its heats up to the correct temp before frothing(the light goes out & its ready for action). It is noisey.
It will make u brilliant coffee & the frother is very good.
This does work this machine its just the instructions are not easy to follow.
The only other thing is you do need to descale if in a hard water area.. this will keep it going fine then
Hope I havent put you off as it does make really excellent coffee and its a shame the instructions are rubbish. I would have given it a 5/5 (instruction failure lets this machine down)!!

awkward water tank

Not bad for the money, but to remove the water tank to fill it you need to remove the drip tray - which the instructions do not make clear. It is still then very awkward to get out and put back - bad design. Gaggia Evolution is a much better machine for not much more

Super looking machine and excellent coffee

Well I bought this after staying at a friends house. They had the"Francis Francis X1" machine, which looked good and made great coffee's too. Not wanting to pay the £300 or so for the same but wanting a very similar looking product I found this wonderful Kenwood equivalent. Intially I saw the Stainless steel version but on further browsing found they offer the Cafe Retro in red or cream( same colour as my friends Francis Francis maker)as well.

Not having used one of these before I found it very easy to use, although it takes a few attempts to get familiar with it and hone your methods. Either using the pods or ground coffee gives excellent results. The milk frother/ steamer is fantastic and really makes the coffee. The little toggle switches, temperature gauge and indicator lights all make towards this product being a classic looking machine and making the coffee is even more fun!

Highly enjoyable and fantastic coffee maker, what more can I say, top marks Kenwood and the best price at Amazon!!!

Highly recommended

Bought this machine after spending at least three years lusting after various models, mostly the Gaggia Titanium etc and then the Jura versions. Having spent a lot of time poking about the machines on display in John Lewis, House of Fraser etc I was always horrified at the combination of HUGE cost and really cheap, nasty plasticky designs and components (Siemens seemed to be the worst...).

I considered a nespresso machine but couldn't face having to buy pods on the internet all the time at 26p a cup. Plus a bean-to-cup machine means no pods going into landfill.

This isn't faced with metal like the Gaggia (although I'm told the innards are all basically the same whichever machine you buy). However, after using this one for a while I've been consistently impressed with the design, the coffee it makes and the ease of maintenance.

You don't have to faff about frothing milk in a separate container (and then washing it up afterwards and wiping the nozzle etc etc) - there's a built in jug that does it for you which you can then take off and store in the fridge. You can prepare a top notch cappucino just by pressing a single button. And its programmable so you can have exactly the amount of milk and coffee you like.

The coffee grinder isn't particularly loud but the machine does make some strange noises when its heating water and moving the grounds about!

I'm having fun experimenting with different beans and it really produces remarkable coffee with an excellent crema. Having drunk instant and Starbucks for years I can now see why people go on about coffee having different flavours and acidity.

Downsides - only one that I can see, which is that you can't make a classic latte with frothed AND hot milk. But if you set the machine to make a milk-heavy capuccio it does the trick for me.

Overall, I'm glad I waited all this time and really did my research, because I've ended up with something much better than if I'd simply paid top-dollar for one of the fancy names.

Only downside is that I'm now drinking far too much coffee!

Don't bother..

I recieved the DeLonghi EC330S as a christmas present, and was quite excited about using the machine as soon as I tore off the wrapping paper..
Unfortunetely I had myself geared up for, virtually, nothing.
First of all, the silly thing doesnt even fit a bloody cup underneath the funnel (unless you tried one from a kiddies tea set) and is unable to make two cups of coffee at the same time. It also takes A LONG TIME to filter through, so youve got a long wait if your anxous for a nice warm refreshing coffee.. But I can hardly say that for the DeLonghi. On top of that, the pods which are given - taste absolutely disgusting!
So, youve waited a while for the thing to be set up, heat up and be filtered through and eventually you get the coffee.. (if you can call it coffee) that tastes awful.
And if you want to make a cappupchino, the milk frother is a pathetic size, and hardly does its job - also likes to spit at you from time to time.
Please - I advise you to stick to a nice big jar of Kenco, and the water from the kettle. And as it goes for the lattes, the cappupchinos and the mochas - go buy Douwe Egberts instants. THEY ARE BRILLIANT. Or just stick to star bucks.

Easy to use and does fantastic coffee

The only thing that this machine does not do is let you know that it is short on coffee beans - everything else is looked after! As a newcomer to these machines, I was worried that it would be fussy or complicated. I couldn't have been more wrong. We were also wondering if we would use it enough to justify the price. Well, no worries on that front as we use it at least 3 times a day. It tells you when you need to add water, when you need to empty , when you need to clean etc. If it doesn't come with the extra milk container, order one from the Krups site at 12 Pounds- well worth the money as it makes a latte ( or cappucino) perfectly. This has been one of the best kitchen gadgets I have ever bought - in fact, probably the best.
