Great Heater

I love this heater. It has served me ten years and after such time has started to"rattle"."Fair enough" I think,"its due for retirement"! But it still works! I cant bare the rattle any longer so have given it to a friend and am now buying a new one, exactly the same. I have tried other models but from my experience with one in particular, the thermostat does not regulate itself very well and so the heater switches on and off more so than I would like (every few minuets) whereas, if the design and build of this machine is still the same as my original, then it will heat the room and only switch on every ten minuets or so. I shall have to buy a new and fine out. But I've been so happy with this product that I've thought so seek the exact same model ten years later. That in itself says a lot about a product.

The Tin Is Different In Real Life

Before Buying this i suggest you go to the delonghi website and check out the specifications there. Some things you should know are:

>>> There is no temperature thermostat control, which is the top knob on the amazon product picture, which in itself is wrong.
>>> Neither the product box or the manufacturer website say anything about this product being quiet. I dont know why it says quiet on the item title, it shouldnt.

Since i bought this on the previous reviewers appraisal i thought it would be quieter than the 2.4 KW static delonghi fan heaters that two of my flatmates have bought, this is louder than their model. However it does oscillate and is not unbearably loud so it gets two stars, Delivery was next day, but for six pounds id hope so.

I have been looking for a decent fan heater for some time and finally decided upon this one.. On the whole, I am impressed with the build of the fan heater - it's not made of plastic and so feels pretty sturdy. Also, the design of it is fantastic for those aiming for a retro life, or a little bit of style - many fan heaters out there look like something your grandparents would own...

The fan has 3 settings - 1. Summer use (cool air), 2. heating at low power (1.5kW?) and 3. heating at maximum power (3 kW). When setting the thermostat, you need to wait until the room temperature gets to where you want it, and then slowly turn the knob/thermostat on the back until the light goes out and the fan turns off. At that point, the fan heater will continue to maintain the temperature it is set at, happily turning itself on and off to do this. Furthermore, the heater itself has 2 positions it will happily sit in, either parallel to the floor or at a 45degree angle to it (that is, the floor). These are ample, don't reckon you would need any other positions. Incidentally, the fan is quiet (comparatively, that is) and does not make any loud noises that I have heard other (cheaper) fans make.

However, the reason for giving it 4 stars and not 5 is that it lacks a few functions that other fan heaters have. Firstly, the thermostat is not variable, and therefore you cannot set it at a particular temperature (like, for example, 22 degrees) which the heater would then attempt to maintain. In some ways I would have preferred being able to stipulate a precise temperature, rather than guessing at hot and cold. Secondly, the little heater does not oscillate. This isn't such a problem right now, but when im using this fan in the summer I may regret my purchase.

Overall, however, the look of this fan heater is brilliant, well designed and funky (which I did not even realise heaters could be!). The build quality is superb. Therefore I was willing to sacrifice the thermostat and oscillation in favour of design - but if you value functionality rather than design you might want to make a different purchase.

good fan heater

This is a very nice, relaxing fan heater. Its a little hard to get to grips with, for example you turn it on and it doesnt work, so you have to check if the thermostats not been tripped, if the timer is set to 'on' for that time of the day, and if the safety tip switch is pressed in properly, Only to find you havent plugged it in!
But once you get over that it provides fantastic fannage. The occilating turns on and off with a simple big switch, you can go to bed with it blowing on you and the timer will switch it off. And the breeze provided is comforting.
I dont use it instead of a radiator, but it would make a very good alternative.
Im happy with it, its very reasonably priced for the quality and a godsend in this summer heat!

efficient but noisy

I bought this heater to keep under my desk at work to keep me and my legs warm in winter. It looks good, it's not too expensive and I like the fact it switches itself on and off to keep the room at a constant temperature.
However, I cannot recommend this heater to keep in an office with other people as it is too noisy. I bought it to replace an ancient one, and noise was not even something I considered. My colleagues now frequently turn it off, and, to be honest, it's even getting on my nerves on occasions. I certainly feel it's worth investing in a"silent" heater.
