No software

As Luke has already said, there is no software in this box. I see Amazon have now added a note saying this is the case, but that's no use to me now! I'm still waiting for my product from Norton, and it's been more than 21 days. Would have been better off buying the full product that's now reduced in all the shops for christmas!

A Welcome Nanny

I was sceptical that this software would be of any use in a family where children are constantly using the net. This was because as the children grow older they become wiser in ways to circumvent any ad-hoc controls I might impose. This was especially true since I had Broadband installed. No longer could I simply disconnet the telephone cord. However it has worked a treat. Features it offers include restricting chatrooms and messaging services as well as the blocking of inappropiate sites. It also allows me to personalise the settings to suit the ages of the children. My only qualm is the trade name which is old fashioned. Apart from that its an indispesable product for all parents. Superb!

Too Resource Hungry, Slooooowwwwssss computer down!

Sorry Trend Micro but after using PC-Cillin Security Suites for many years I have had to give up. It may be OK on faster Computers but on my Pentium III 800 it just slowed things up way to much and task manager revealed the main reason, in that was using way too much memory. I tried the"Spybot Search and Destroy Fix" and it made no difference. Running the latest version and updates (August 2007) has made no difference. A major re-write for a Security Suite previously touted as being low on resource usage is required before I would consider going back to it. I have switched to Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 7 and it feels like my PC has gone into overdrive as things have sped up so much, and so far I have been very impressed with it (wide range of features and well written software).

Doesn't support advertised operating system

The product was sold as supporting Platforms Windows XP / 2000 / 98 / 95. When tried to load ZoneAlarm Professional 7 on Windows 98, a message was received stating that the operating system was not supported and installation was terminating now.

It has its good aspects.

Whenever you want to upgrade your anti-virus you`r allways plagued by the dread of long hours downloading and tricky instructions, terms and policys. I was, but the ease of it all kind of made up for the downloading time - an hour and a bit. I had had bad experiences vith anti-virus upgrades in the past, but this one was different. It really is effective in blocking unwantes softwear in addition to the fact that it has lots of extra features that are dead easy to toggle on and off. It had some plain silly features like parental site-blocking, but I bet you you won`t be dissapointed.

Symantec has finally released their latest version of Norton Personal Firewall, being the world leader in computer security.

Norton's Firewall and AntiVirus are very promising software, the down side is that they require a lot of system resources as they run a lot of programs in the background. All used to protect your machine.

If you're looking for a decent security software, you should consider purchasing this one.

Do not forget you should also consider Norton Antivirus 2005 too!

Great Piece of software

I like previous reviewers had been a loyal Norton Interent security (NIS) user since 2002. However, since I upgraded to NIS 2007 this bloatware has twice wreacked my PC, forcing 2 hard disk reformats and re-installation of Win XP pro on a 2 year-old Dell PC. I switched over to Bitdefender IS v 10 and my PC has come to life again ! With NIS 2007 runing on a vey old Sony laptop (over 4 years old), the laptop would take ages to start and reading/sending emails with Outlook was a"make a cup of tea while you wait" chore. The Dell with NIS 2007 was much fater, but NIS 2007 caused numerous crashes. With BitDefender IS v10's 2 year 2-user licence (ALL for much less than NIS 2007) I have regained a fast PC and the laptop is like a new machine. Bitdefender does EXACTLY what it says (managed to find 10 viruses / trojons that NIS 2007 completely failed to detect on my systems!) Bitdefender does it job, QUICKLY, quietly and without the"bells and whistles" of NIS 2007. THIS is what internet security should be like. Also, have a wireless LAN setup, no problems with BitDefender IS 10, it was a breeze, much easier that the NIS 2007 aclaimed easy setup (my foot!).
So far, both my systems have been using Bitdefender for 2 months without a problem, if it had been NIS2007, I would be reformatting my hard disk right now! NIS 2007 was so bad, that even though I had more than 6 months left on NIS 2007 subscription, I trashed it, never to return. Best choice I made.
If you want a nice looking piece of software then buy NIS 2007, but if you want an internet security system that works, get Bitdefender.
You don't need to read this review to see the difference in NIS 2007, just look at the price. I paid nearly £40 in October 2006 for NIS 2007"Upgrade", just look at the price for NIS 2007 now less than £23 !! Norton are feeling the pressure from the likes of BitDefender.

No Problems!

I bought this about two weeks ago because my Norton Internet Security 2006 was due for renewal and I wanted to try something different. Having removed the Norton program via the"Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programmes" route; I inserted the disk and Panda loaded without a problem. Its worked perfectly ever since.
Also, it has cured a problem I was having up until then - everytime I connected to the internet, within about a minute my system would hang and refuse to do anything for up to several minutes. The desktop icons would open programmes, but anything to do with the internet just became inoperable. This problem has now gone - so I can only presume it was the Norton product....

safe again

Norton Confidential was a badly needed addition to the set of programs that have the task of protecting my PC. Nothing I had installed so far would protect my passwords or double check if a page I was visiting and trying to do business with.

So I am happy that phishing is one more problem that I could effectively deal with and protect myself against, just like spam and viruses before that.

purchase with caution!

I had this installed on my pc, all was well until a pop up message told me that an attack had been made on my pc. All it told me was that it was a trojan and nothing else, such as the name. I contacted their support only to be told that they wanted even more money for them to put me through to someone that would help me remove the virus if I still had it on the system!

I then said that I was not happy about this and they told me that I could do it myself by going to a link they gave me and searching for the name of the virus.

I explained to them yet again that the report did not give me a name of the virus. Guess what the anwser was - yes that's right they asked for a payment again for them to tell me if I had got a virus or not and how to remove it if I had!

Asking them what was the point in buying their product in the first place I had the anwser that when you subcribe to them you only buy the product and 12 months worth of virus definitions, but if you wanted to remove a virus then that was a different department and help removing a virus would require a payment!!!!!!

I removed their product after they failed to help.

I was totally unimpressed with their service to say the least. Thank you Norton for nothing"have a nice day!"

Good bit of software

Does what it says on the tin.

Some foibles - you have to learn (which you will quickly) how to organise your data on your USB key so that PV doesn't take an age to decrypt. Also, seem to be stuck with US date format for files when they're in the Vault.

But seems good to me, am using it on several USB keys and have been for almost a year now.
