Review for Super Mario Galaxy (Wii):
Definitely the MOST infuriating game of MY life!!!
At first (on the easy levels) I thought Mario Galaxy was really fun. Then I got got onto the hard levels and the fact I kept dying changed my mind. I kept on getting stuck and killed by mushrooms. I would not recommend buying it if you get distressed or infuriated easily. You can buy it if you want though.Hope this helped!

Review for Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution (PS3):
The graphics are superb, the game play balanced (some of the more time consuming elements available on the PC version have been removed to allow the game to flow along quicker), and an element of humour added with the various caricatures of world leaders and advisors.
Although some elements of the game have been simplified, the depth to the strategy is still abundant, the 'Game of the Week' mode provides a set map and a set world power, having played this mode several times I was surprised how different each game turn out.
The only reason I haven't given this game 5 out of 5, is that there is no way to speed up the battle scenes, although these have been wonderfully animated, they can become a bit tiresome after a week or so.
Well done Sid Meier (and team) on another hit...

Review for Sight Training (Nintendo DS):
the games are dull and repetitive, maybe in the lab this is fun but on a handheld they are not.
the worst bit is the eye relax at the end where an annoying american voice talks to you and makes you roll your eyes.

Review for Assassin's Creed (PS3):
But if you want to pay £40 for a game and have fun do not buy this game. Basically do the first mission and all of the other missions are the same after that. There is also the way that it takes about half an hour to get to the actual assassination and all of the dull investigation work to be done before that.
Some fun bits of the game are ruined by the boring repetitiveness of the whole game.

Review for World of Warcraft (Mac/PC):
I say 'returned' because it wasn't the first time I played WoW. Indeed this is the 3rd time around, having reached level 30ish on the previous occasions, so I'm far from new to the game.
Now, I don't know what to make of this MMORPG. It's hard to see where the appeal lies: a continuous cycle of fighting, levelling up, upgrading, and not much else besides. True, there's an all-manner of professions and distractions, but not as much as you may think, and it all ultimately comes back to that core cycle of fight-level-upgrade. And yet I always come back to it for more.
Basically, WoW isn't fun - it's addictive. There is a difference, and WoW is certainly more the latter. It quickly becomes a case of just-doing-one-more-thing-then-I'll-definitely-log-off, doing quests not because it's fun to do so, but because you're compelled to do so, feeding on that desire everyone inherently has to get just that little bit better. Pretty soon the game takes on a sinister form, eating hours of your life away as you drag yourself through a virtual landscape, dolling yourself up in the gear with the biggest numbers, never quite being able to shake that all-too-true voice at the back of your head that nags that you're wasting your time.
But! It's not a bad game at heart. In small doses, perhaps an hour at a time, it can be fun, especially if you know someone who plays too who you can socialise with in-game. The landscapes are beautiful, always begging to be explored (exploration is one of the more satifying elements of the game).
It's when you sit down to six-hour-long sessions when it becomes an obsession, something resembling a job. And all for what?
As I said, my brother convinced me to return to WoW; he has a level 70 character, and I've watched him play. What he does now is practically the same as what you do when you start off: from killing wolves in a quaint forest to vanquishing house-sized demons in another dimension, it's essentially the same premise. Endless months of doing something repetitive is something you'd do only:
a) if you knew you'd get something good at the end (which you don't), or
b) if you're addicted.
If you have even a mildly addictive personality, steer clear of this. It eats into your life, an addiction that you think is fun, and gives nothing back for it. If, however, you can limit how much you play, you'll find a dazzling world awaits you. Just be careful.

I really don't know what to think of this...

Review for Call of Duty 4 (PC DVD):
Got COD4, first of all, it runs like a dream and 've seen it running like a dream on lower spec machines.
It looks fantastic, vision affects, explosions, light, design etc etc.
It sounds fantastic, radio chatter, background noise of a warzone, 3d effects
But best of all for me, it plays brilliantly. Singleplayer has some very well designed levels to try and drop you in some exciting and hectic firefights. There are levels where you go into a middle eastern warzone with a platoon of marines, Covert SAS missions behind enemy lines, 2 man sniper team on a black ops mission, gunner in a c130 gunship!
They seem to have found a happy medium between super real tom clancy 'one shot kills' and ridiculous, shoot a baddie 30 times in the head and hes fine, graze his finger slightly and he gos down.
When you shoot a enemy, he will go down if in a vital area, hit his arm and he wont be able to aim his gun, hit his legs and he cant walk. The aimings good as well, instead of making guns widly inaccurate at any range over 10ft to try and make it 'realistic' (Im looking at you Crysis) they make the the cros hairs large so its not accurate at long range unless you use the sights (flick right mouse button). Works brilliantly.
I loved the way as well they have designed the game so you are a normal soldier, part of a unit in a larger war, not a super strong, phsycic, alien mutated, flying superhero who single handendley wins the war. One level sees your squad leaving a mission area on a helicopter, a support cobra next to you gets shot down and your squad volounteers to set down and rescue the pilot, you set down neer the cobra under huge amounts of fire and have to carry the injured pilot back to the helicopter while your squad cover you and fall back, once onboard you turn around and lay down a bit of fire to cover the rest of your squad who are falling back. Very much a team effort
Ther multiplayer I've only started on so I cant properly comment but have been enjoying so far and there is a ranking - bonus system that is much more detailed than BF2's
If you want to spend hours locked in a room overclocking your pc and playing crysis, this isnt for you. If you want to come home from work and have a good quality blast for half an hour before dinner then there is nothing currently better. You'll be grinning the whole way through!

If Crysis is Shumacer then this is Hamilton!
I just bought a new pc, a fairly respectable core 2 duo with a 9600gt in it. Got Crysis, installed, monumentally disapointed in the gameplay, and with the anti alaising only at 4, it doenst look super wonderful.Got COD4, first of all, it runs like a dream and 've seen it running like a dream on lower spec machines.

Review for Lego: Indiana Jones (PC DVD):
This game is a must if you are an Indy fan like me. The cutscenes are very funny and the game sticks to the original trilogy pretty closely with just a few exceptions. In fact, I was sad enough to re-watch all three films again prior to playing this game so that I could be familiarised with the stories again, sad but true. It will provide hours of enjoyment for both adults and children.
I've already completed the game (which did not take long) with <50% completion and am in the process of getting all the goodies (treasure chests, secret characters, bonus levels...etc) that I missed in the story mode. The replay value is therefore quite high.
Despite a few negative comments from users who had experienced problems, I would still recommend this game to anyone. I have never played the Lego Star Wars titles so could not make any comparative comments. Oh, you MUST have a joypad or two joypads for two players as keyboard gameplay is almost impossible. You have been warned.

good game with excellent replay value
The game installed and played fine without any issues. No problem starting it with my standard 10 button USB joypad plugged in as some of you have mentioned. My system is quite basic: Athlon X2 3800+, Radeon 2600XT, 4Gb PC2-6400 RAM and Vista x64 SP1. It runs fine with very decent framerate. This game is a must if you are an Indy fan like me. Review for Boom Blox (Wii):
The gameplay is divided into different sections - the single player adventure mode (with a plot of sorts and cute cut-scenes between levels) is short, and has some very good levels, and some extremely boring ones that you won't want to go back and replay.
There are also explore levels (standalone puzzles) some of which are good fun and have a lot of replay value.
There are multiplayer (sadly not online) levels for 2-4 players, which are mostly excellent - probably the most enjoyable levels to play and the ones with the most replayability - I suspect a lot of people won't be replaying the adventure mode much, or some of the explore levels - but will be spending most of their time on just these mupliplayer levels.
And you can design your own levels and swap them via friend codes - which has the potential to be lots of fun - the level editor is very easy to use.
What pre-made content there is here is very mixed, some of the single player levels (especially a lot of the last quarter of the adventure mode) are frankly rubbish, but there are some great levels especially for multiplayer, and the game engine is superb, combine that with the abilty to make your own levels and it could be a lot of fun.

Great game engine, mixed quality of levels.
The game engine for this is outstanding - watching the way large towers of blocks collapse etc. when you remove a vital support is hypnotic and astonishingly realistic for the Wii.The gameplay is divided into different sections - the single player adventure mode (with a plot of sorts and cute cut-scenes between levels) is short, and has some very good levels, and some extremely boring ones that you won't want to go back and replay.

Hardcore FPS king is back but lighter on the Xbox 360
Don't get me wrong, this game is awesome. The graphics are beautiful and very impressive. The game is fluid and fast paced like nothign else on the market. And the weapons, vehicles and maps are well designed and well balanced. This game is essentially meant to be played online. However a long story mode and instant play action with bots will allow you to train before you venture out in the crazy human vs human arenas. The bonus 5 maps and 2 characters as well as the split screen mode are nice additions to the 360 version of the game. However this console version suffers from its inability to download and integrate user created content. Furthermore for clan members, there is no option to add a clan prefix to your name. Also, you cannot change the preference of weapon which means that you will automatically pick up and autoswitch a default more powerfum weapon when you step on it. Changing weapons is a bit of a chore and the weapon select wheel is useless. UT 3 is so fast you just die when you don't select the right tool for the job. Despite these little omissions from the PC release, UT 3 for the xbox 360 is truly an amazing game. The controls are nicely laid out, the game is fast, fresh, and addictive.
