Review for Hancock [2008]:
It is a good movie, but if u sit all the way through it moaning and complaining saying"that was unrealistic" and"thats daft he would be dead there" then you certainly wont enjoy it. Just take it for what it is, its a fictional story about a guy with superpowers whos limitations are endless. If you must, dum your self down a bit or act like a young boy when watching it, then you will take it for what it really is.
All in all, a good film, Smiths personality really suits Hancock, the majority of people will enjoy a Will Smith movie anyway so i reckon you will like it.

The worst film ever made
Now you all have seen Narnia 2 and that was abismal this film has sunk to a whole new level of pants. The Novel was or would have been 20x better then the film i grantee. I was so bord in the cinema that started chucking food (Popcorn) around the room and this old man who was around 70 by his looks and he gave me evils. Now this film is worse then enchanted and Jaws 4 and even the grudge. I would raver bye the film Doggy Poo! Its that bad I give this poor film 1/5 atchualy i must this is so bad its like watching High school mucisal! So Bad I would rather die then watch it again. I din't buy this poor exsuse for a film i was forced to see it and i really hated it and the reason i looked it up was to tell you it was abismal, so here i go! IT WAS ABISMAL5
Review for Iron Man [2008]:
...I was let down completely.
Robert Downey Jr, who I consider to be an immensely talented actor, seemed to have gone for role so far below him.
The plot was generic, and boring, and bears some similarity (near the end fight scene) to that of the new Incredible Hulk movie, which I have to say is tonnes better.
I felt that they only really touched the surface on RDJ's character and that of his female assistance, so much more character study could have been undergone.
When I first saw the advertisement for Iron Man, the idea seemed a little lame and generic, and I have to agree, after viewing this film, that view remains intact.
HOWEVER, if you are an avid fan of Robert Downey Junior, go and watch 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' , it is by far RDJ's best perfomance on screen that I have seen so far.

Completely and utterly Overhyped.

Review for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor [2008]:
The Actor who played Alex (the now grown-up son) i dont think played the role very well, he had an american accent for some reason, and generally didnt suit the role imo.
If you really want to watch it i would rent it or borrow it off a friend... not worth buying unless its in the sale for around £2!

shame...
a fairly poor film. following on from the original Mummy which was not a terrible film, and returns which was also ok.. this is terrible. The acting isnt great (i dont like Brenden Fraser anyway), no real good action scenes and the Story line is extremley predictable. The Actor who played Alex (the now grown-up son) i dont think played the role very well, he had an american accent for some reason, and generally didnt suit the role imo.

WOW!
I have just finished watching this and I can truly say WOW! This is much better than the original even though the first Hellboy rocked. This film takes us deeper into the world of Hellboy with all its fantastic demons, trolls and hulking gold robots that are just awesome. There are great little funny quips here keeping this sequel edgy, funny and scary. The FX are some of the best I have seen in years, the CGI use is kept at a minimum for many of the hundreds of creatures within this film. I do hope they make a 3rd as this really did make me pine for more.8

Review for Star Wars - The Clone Wars [2008]:
It has humour, action and adventure and has a unique animation style that makes it stand out from the crowd. I have been a Star Wars fan for years and enjoyed this as much as the prequels- It is MUCH better than The Phantom Menance!
I was dissapointed with the DVD release as normally with Star Wars you get a quality product, but with this you don't even get an animated menu!
The only extras are an audio commentry. If you compare this with the Blu Ray release its ridiculous! On there you get making of movies, character profiles, trailers, games...I'm not sure why they decided not to put this on the DVD, but I am deeply dissapointed. Save up and buy a Blu Ray player would be my advice!

Review for Stardust [2007]:
The scenery is fantastic and the special effects are amazing - especially the final half hour or so.
It's not going to change the world, but it doesn't aim to! Its funny, light entertainment and should be viewed as such. Adults and children will both enjoy it. Plus any film that manages to silence Ricky Gervais has to be given 5 stars!!!

Magical!
This is one of those few occasions where I have to say that I preferred the film to the book. The film really enhances the basic story of the book and turns it into a really enjoyable film. When you try to explain the plot - a clumsy, geeky, naive boy (Charlie Cox) crosses a wall into a fantasy land to catch a falling star, (who happens to be a person played by Claire Danes) avoid crazy old witches and power thirsty princes, meet some sky pirates and return the star to a spoilt brat (in the form of Sienna Miller) so she will marry him - it sounds confusing, but it all makes sense when watching it and you find yourself following the plot easily. The scenery is fantastic and the special effects are amazing - especially the final half hour or so.

Review for Hellboy 2: The Golden Army [Blu-ray] [2008]:
I was excited to watch the second hellboy film and I wasn't exactly blown away by it, but I wasn't disappointed by it. Although I thought the first one was more driven by plot, this one I felt was more driven by characters(with Liz being pregnant, hellboy becoming a daddy, and Abe being in love) and lacked something that made me love the first one, however this is still a really enjoyable film with stunning picture. I listen to my sound with two small speakers next to my TV (although it is not connected to my 5.1 surround)yet when it played I still had to check that it wasn't coming through my surround sound, easily the best sounding blu ray I have heard so far. Recommend for definite.

Review for In Bruges [2008]:
Not bad, but not great
On paper this film has a great storyline, but is in fact a bit of a disappointment. It's a reasonably amusing, quirky movie although all too often Colin Farrell's character slips into Dougal out of Father Ted mode. The film is also quite slow moving. While it is well directed, it does seem to have been done quite cheaply and does at times seem like it was commissioned by the Bruges Tourist Office. Distinctly average.14

THIS IS NOT 24 HOW WE KNOW IT!!!
This should have got 24 back on track for the big release of season 7 for me it came of the rails and didn't get back on. There was no real tension with the real time factor as for Jack he wasn't the Jack we know and all love. The story seemed rushed from the word go I think it just seemed a bit pointless even doing it. I am massive 24 fan and I really was looking forward to the release of this but having watched it I will not be buying it to add to my DVD collection of 24 it really is a waste of money. I really do hope season 7 makes up for this because if it doesn't I think 24 will be losing a few fans will be a shame.16

A re-release of the"Limited Edition" release and absolutely no improvement on the Theatrical version transfers.
I just want to provide a bit of information that is missing from the product listing, which is of great interest to many people. That is, has the transfer of the Theatrical Editions been improved over the insult that was released last time? And the answer is a plain and simple"no". The Special Edition is the same fantastic transfer as we've had before (albeit with the same bizarre discolouration problems) and the Original Theatrical Editions are still not anamorphic. Why? Well, we all have our suspicions about that.Putting it simply, if you don't have the Star Wars trilogy on DVD, this release is cheap enough and worth getting, but if you own it and were hoping for an improvement over the previous release (no longer limited, it seems), then don't waste your money.

Review for I Am Legend [2007]:
The best thing about it is the special effects- seeing an abandoned New York is pretty cool. Unfortunately that doesn't give the film any substance and the second half of the film descends into mediocrity. Seeing how Smith's character deals with being the last man gives the film a little life. However, it soon becomes a silly horror/thriller with zombie vampires *yawn* that has been done a lot (and recently!) The ending is predictable and tiresome. Will Smith's performance is okay but has a pretty poor script to work with. This film is a waste of time apart from some impressive effects as previously mentioned (apart from the cartoon zombies) In conclusion, *yawn*

Review for I Am Legend [2007]:
Unoriginal and in the end pretty laughable
This film steals concepts from many other films and sellotapes them together to make this flimsy end product. The isolation Smith's character suffers, the conversations with his dog is reminiscent of of Castaway where Hanks talks to his football. A deadly virus spreads and almost destroy civilisation hmmn... there have been several recent films similar to this. 28 days later? 28 weeks later? Yes, yes I know it is based on a graphic novel but this film still feels wholly unnecessary. Clearly it was made because of the success of those recent films and it makes it feel all too familiar and unoriginal. The best thing about it is the special effects- seeing an abandoned New York is pretty cool. Review for Mongol - The Rise To Power Of Genghis Khan [2008]:
Camerawork : Fantastic (particularly the opening shot). Wonderful framing and wide landscape shots. And the sets and costumes stay true to the intended time.
I am however sceptical of the cinematography as I feel a lot of the beauty in the shots has more to do with the land itself than the brilliance of the photography. This is by no means to the stunning standard of Baraka or Laurence of Arabia, both of which have the available scenery but still rely massively on the artistry of the photography.
Plot : Only Swiss cheese has this many holes in it! There seemed to be a number of scenes that just tailed off without explanation. One minute he's shackled and running through the wasteland the next he's free and building an army.
Another massive downer for me was the ending. It does appear that there will be a Mongol 2, which will save the ending of the first somewhat. But the problem I had was it's sudden jump ... one minute you're enduring 2 hours of epic fairytale then suddenly it's the end and a few captions are thrown at the screen explaining what went on to happen in the life of Khan. It leaves the viewer a little empty to say the least.
This is a mildly enjoyable film with a large number of plot holes. So if you're looking for an intelligent, well rounded piece of cinema then look elsewhere. But if you're after an epic romp with some rather nice little action sequences then this should satisfy.
Just as an extra: I read that the Mongolians hated this film. Apparently the language and accents are disturbingly terrible and even they have to watch it with subtitles to get whats going on!

Review for Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy [2003]:
As family viewing goes,it will keep the kids quiet for hours but the individual films are lengthy so spread your viewing over a couple of weekends to prevent over doing it.The movies themselves are great fun and with so many gruesome characters, make sure the more nervous ones in your family who are old enough to watch have someone to snuggle up to,just in case. In fact,in some of the scenes,I could have done with snuggling up to someone myself!
This is great entertainment and if you have not seen the movies at the cinema yourself, you are in for a treat.

The Joker Steals The Show
I gave this movie four rather than five stars because I think it suffers from being just slightly over long, its unsure whether it wants to be family viewing or just as sinister as it could be and I'm still not sure that Batman himself hasnt been miscast. This is the second in the series of films which began with"Batman Begins", it is set years after the first film. Crime and corruption are still a problems in Gotham but pale in comparison with what they once where as a consequence of not just Batman's vigilante justice but some crusading politicians and cops.
Bruce Wayne is contemplating retiring Batman, partly for personal reasons (a love interest) but also because he feels the"state of emergency" conditions of the first movie, which had Rasa Ghoul contemplating liquidating the place, have passed.
Enter The Joker who steals the show from everyone, a psychopathic jack the ripper style character wanting nothing other than to indulge his homicidal and sadistic urges. The characterisation of The Joker is unsurpassed and is destined to become one of the archetypical film psychopaths like Hopkin's Hannibal Lector, unmistakeably unhinged, insanely compulsive and repulsive, any ingenuity in his scheming is pretty much unsurpassed by the sinister, sick nature of the same.
In the end circumstances leave no doubt that Gotham isnt ready for a world without Batman, although public attitudes to the same are changed for good, another film's set up but not in any way which detracts from this set piece.
The movie's great but I'm a fan of a lot of Batman comics, books and films and still feel that in these movies The Batman himself lacks prescence.
