Motorola F3 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

New Price: £19.48

Review for Motorola F3 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black:
basic yes but maybe too basic?
A phone is just a phone, it is true. but one of the key factors of a 'mobile' phone is that you can contact on the move- phone or silently by sms (aka text messages). the display for the latter is terrible. they are hard to read and hard to write. not worth a penny. if this us the standard of thier products count me out for life.

Nokia 1208 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

Used Price: £19.50
New Price: £20.99

Review for Nokia 1208 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black:
Very good value
I was using a Sagem C2-2 but found that the reception was not very good. So I bought this Nokia 1208 and transferred my Vodafone sim card from the Sagem to the Nokia. The reception is now very good and the feedback from those whom I speak to is that they can hear me loud and clear.

I found the ring tones loud enough not to miss any calls. The volume of these can be adjusted. Also the volume of the calls can be set to loud profile.

The keys and the display are very good. The menus are intuitive and it was easy to find the features and options that I want.

I also tested the texting and found it much better than the Sagem. It has other features too, like alarm, speaker phone, etc that are easier to use than the Sagem.

I think the Nokia 1208 is very good value if you want a phone to make and receive calls clearly and for sending and receiving text messages.

Nokia N95 8GB Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

Used Price: £170.00
New Price: £195.00

Review for Nokia N95 8GB Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black:
Bestseller for a reason!
I've had this handset for around 6 months and I reckon I still haven't discovered all it has to offer! Upsides - superb all-round entertainment handset, camera clarity, video calling, memory, websurfing, display of webpages and Nokia/Google Maps (clear satellite images), movies are displayed really well, the N-Gage gaming platform is great.

Downsides - abysmal battery life, weightiness (brick in pocket springs to mind!), camera takes an age to warm up and get focussed, inner keypad is on the small side, no card slot. It isn't really a good business phone (organiser is a bit basic, difficult to master typing emails and stuff on that miniscule keypad). Other than that (hope I haven't put you off!) it's a beautiful handset!

Brand New Apple iPhone 8GB-Unlocked Mobile Phone-Black

Used Price: £300.00
New Price: £439.99

Review for Brand New Apple iPhone 8GB-Unlocked Mobile Phone-Black:
Beautiful, intuitive but not perfect.
What I would say in brief about the iPhone is this: believe the hype. It works seemlessly, it's achingly gorgeous to look at and performs excellently. The GPS is actually very useful and has saved me a few times from getting lost.

But it isn't perfect by any means.

The battery life is not great. It's obviously full of clever (and energy-sapping) features like 3G and GPS, but with even relatively limited use you'll be charging this on average every one and a half days. You can turn down the brightness and do other things to conserve power, but they only have a limited effect. This also means that all those lovely applications you can download only have limited play life before your battery starts to drain. Having said that, it does perform well when it comes to making and receiving actual calls, which is really the point of the iPhone.

UPDATE 26/9/08: Firmware 2.1 has significantly enhanced battery life.

The camera function is severely limited. It's 2 megapixels, but there is no digital zoom, no light/flash and no video recording. There is also no sound recording.

You can't save draft text messages, or forward a pre-existing message to someone else. Nor can you copy and paste so if you want to forward a message you have to retype it.

You can't send or receive MMSs. To send a pic you have to email it; to receive a pic you have to log onto your 02.co.uk account and access it there. Messy.

If you're happy with this then great. I'm over the moon with mine but there are higher spec devices out there. What they don't do, which the iPhone excels at, is pulling it all together into an incredibly attractive and intuitive device.

Lovely.

Nokia 2760 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Red

New Price: £44.00

Review for Nokia 2760 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Red:
Simplicity
I have several phones and bought this one as trial for my mother and good friend who often complaint about tiny keys on their mobiles. This one has large keypads, easily seen, easy to use, very good camera, video and sheer NOKIA simplicity and brilliance. Clamshell means the screen doesnot scratch like my SlimSlider and Iphone. It automatically locks the keypads when shut. It saves me money as unlike some other mobiles a slight touch often means my mobile automatically roams on the internet or making speed dialling calls without me realising! This neat little phone saves me battery life - and money. Minus all the other gimmicks this is one of the best there is on the market

Sony Ericsson W580i Sim Free Mobile Phone - black/grey

Used Price: £65.00
New Price: £94.00

Review for Sony Ericsson W580i Sim Free Mobile Phone - black/grey:
Slide away....
Good looking and well featured phone but I know several people who have had problems with broken sliders, mainly caused by the frankly stupid"shake" song changer (what were Sony thinking ??). The keypad is also a problem with keys cracking, though my friend had hers replaced at the Carphone Warehouse under warranty ok.
I'm a big fan of Sony Ericsson phones but this one is not recommended for those who treat their phone robustly!

Update - keypad is cracked again :o(

Sony Ericsson W200i Review
Product: Sony Ericsson W200i Walkman Mobile Phone

Rating: 4.0 / 5.0

Review: The Sony Ericsson W200i is what we would call a budget phone, if you dont have a lot of cash and need a new phone, then this could just be the phone for you. The main thing about it is that it can play your favorite music and has a VGA camera to capture photos with. It can also handle memory cards and comes with earphones. But it does not have bluetooth which is a real shame

Its: Standard, Cheap, playes music, a phone

Its not: Brilliant, bluetooth, State of the art, always working, the best phone in the world

Summary: If your on a low budget or need a new phone/walkman buy the Sony Ericsson W200i.

Complete Crock of $%*&
I have been a faithful buyer of Nokia phones due to their reliability and ease of function however this phone has caused me nothing short of a heap of trouble.
The battery lasts with minimal use 2 days max and that whilst also turning it off at night time.
The camera is awful, very grainy and you need a wrist as stiff a a social worker in order to hold the phone still enough in order to not create blurred photos.
To add insult in injury my phone lasted all of 3 days then totally packed up so its straight back for a refund.
I think the quality of Nokia phones has fallen in recent times, ive got many friends who also feel the same.

Sony Ericsson T68i SIM Free Mobile Phone - Blue and Grey

Used Price: £12.99
New Price: £40.00

Review for Sony Ericsson T68i SIM Free Mobile Phone - Blue and Grey:
T68
I got my t68 a few months ago, and my oh my, it is good! The screen is clear and the backlight is very bright in the dark. The inclusion of bluetooth on the phone hasn't proved of much use for me, but I'm sure some people will find this a most useful resource. The T68 has lots of accessories. Browsing Amazon, I found a laser pointer and a LED torch that clipped onto the bottom of the phone. Cameras, radios, mp3 players, bluetooth headsets, etc, all available for the phone, all-in-all, making it a very upgradeable phone.
I haven't had any difficulties yet, except for the fact that the menus are a little slow and the fact that I can't open it up (or haven't figured it out yet). As if I'd want to. The T68 seems to be a very sturdy phone. It does creak a little when pressing the buttons, but it is very nice to work with. The joystick is a little hard to get used to, but with use, it becomes a joy to use. There are eight games on my phone (some have more, like tennis, etc), and these keep my quite occupied when I'm travelling long distances. Erix (a jezzball clone) is very addictive and enjoyable with the joystick.
The T68 looks very cute and it is very light. The battery weighs next to nothing, and when I picked up my old 3310, I nearly dropped it due to its weight. The jog-dial on the side is rarely used on my phone, but like bluetooth, some people will find it very useful.
The screen is great. 256 colours and a resolution of 101x80, it is very easy to find logos on the internet, and free if you get an infrared adapter, bluetooth adapter or data cable for your PC. I'll be getting one soon to add some free logos onto the phone, as well as syncronising my phone with Outlook, and also adding contacts easily via the PC.
The options menu is a little limited, but has nice touches like contrast adjuster and voice control. The sound is good (although I was rather dissapointed when I found out that although the T68 can record voices, sounds, etc, it doesn't have polyphonic ringtones. I was also shocked to find that this phone has T9 text input, but the Sony Ericsson P800, with retail costs of up to £400, doesn't. Come on Sony Ericsson, you need to get you priorities right. The ringtones are poor, there are no ringtones I can relate to. It doesn't even have a normal"ring ring" tone. Although this is easy to program in, it is poor to be left out. When you switch the phone on, it makes an annoying tone as well. This also happens when you turn the phone off.
The status option is very very useful (it tells you how much time you have left on the battery), and the GPRS is good. One review I saw about the phone said that the phone lost signal a lot. This is rubbish. When I was in school, it lost its signal, but so had every other kid's phone.
This phone is excellent value, sleek and light, with really great features. Comes highly recommended for anyone who wants a phone, full stop.

Sony Ericsson K800i Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

Used Price: £60.00
New Price: £80.00

Review for Sony Ericsson K800i Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black:
fantastic phone... for as long as it lasts
I bought this phone at the beginning of the year for what seemed like a snip - £70 in argos, which makes me think that this phone is certainly overpriced here. However, after nine months, I've given up the phone and went back to buying Samsungs as I had always done in the past. For whilst the phone is still in reasonably good order, both my boyfriend and my sister who had the same model of phone have noticed that the number buttons and the joypad have both started sticking; in fact, my boyfriend had such a problem with his that he had to pay to get it repaired.

That is without a doubt a major problem with the phone, and perhaps one which Sony Ericsson should maybe look into in future, because I doubt that it was just coincidence. Having said that, all the features of the phone are brilliant and easy to use, and I really couldn't fault them.

Nokia 3110 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black

Review for Nokia 3110 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black:
Excellent Phone.
Simple, slick and elegant, great sized panels for the number keypad and the screen pixels are stunning, battery life is amazing and camera is great, get a memory card for cheap. The 8mb is not enough for the high quality pics this phone produces. Video capture is excellent and reception is good, works abroad well. Tough and very durable. Not many Features, plays tunes, games and other stuff as standard, better access to features through Internet access.

Nokia 3310 - SIM Free (various colours)

Used Price: £9.50
New Price: £39.99

Review for Nokia 3310 - SIM Free (various colours):
Already, this could be a very important product of our time
Where would we be without the Nokia Mobile Phone? Not here, that's for sure! Nokia provided something that other manufacturers couldn't; Simplicity, a now infamous user-friendly menu system, the also infamous layout of Menu buttons below their meaning at the bottom of the screen, and a very generous size, even now.

The 3310, the successor to the mother (3210) that started the School craze way back in 2000, was a smaller, more efficient phone that provided extra features at little no more cost. So popular was the original 3210 that everyone who was under 19 had to have one. Full stop. At £85 it was expensive for some, but the better priced 3310 as technology was improving just carried the success of this wonderful range. The ease of which you can move through menus, highlighted by clear text and all the original 'mono' sounds is fast and quirky.

It even had a program that allowed you to create your own Mono ringtones through using the phone number-buttons as musical notes. Crude indeed, but I just about managed to create the James Bond theme tune one evening, much to my delight.

Of course, this was one of the charms of the 3000 series; everyone wanted the best and funniest ringtones. And who better than comedian and funny nut 'Dom Jolly' to use the"Nokia Tone" on his prank program 'Trigger Happy TV) (available on DVD) as the tone for stereotypical 'man shouting into mobile phone, completely unnessecarily'. The result was that the Nokia Tune became a household sound.

Nokia's efficiency also played a part in the success of not just this phone, but the rest of the 3000 series. The same phone charging jack, the same interface, the same tones, and the same features were all available on the phones; only newer models adding to the list of glowing features which set each other aside.

The fashion side of the Nokia 3210/3310 was also spurred on by the creation of Nokia's Xpress Covers; a unique but still simple way that covers just, well... clip on and off without having to unscrew the front face plate, or call a bomb expert like on traditional Motorola Phones. The introduction of commercial covers meant no-one had the same looking Nokia. And if it got battered and bruised, you just bought a new cover!

I could really defy anyone who suggested that this very first generation of Nokia phones haven't changed the way we live. My dad bought one around the same time I had just parted with mine around 2002/03, and only months ago did it finally kick the bucket. After years of serving him important phone calls through our daily life, the phone was quite laughably dropped into the sea while fishing. He said it"fizzed, and then sparked!"

Without Nokia's ideas, phones wouldn't have moved on the way they have. We'd still probably be living in the original Motorola world of huge"OK" buttons, and large"CANCEL" buttons. This phone was years ahead of its time, and with its still modern image, it looked it too. Given the chance and, other, lack of embarrassment for owning such an old thing, I would still to this day use this fast and ingenious little device. Unfortunately however, we now live in an age of not mobile phones, but mobile gadgets. And for me, that original charm has just been lost, so now annoying people can think they're cool by yelling into their flashy 'Prada' phones, even though (they won't admit it!!!) they're an absolute nightmare to use.

What do I think? Bring back the Mobile 'Phone' in all it's original glory! I really don't need 8GB of memory just so I can store music and play it loud on a bus....

Er...what use is a phone that has a screen that is invisible on even a dull day. The super stylish silver screen just reflects everything. No use to me as I actually venture out in daylight.
