Great value for money!

I've been checking the prices for 2gb SD memory cards for a few weeks and when i found the fuji 2gb card i ordered it straight away and i'm so glad i did, and what a bonus it was delivered to me in super quick time.

I had this camera for xmas and i have used it everyday and today is the 3rd of January and i am nowhere near filled my 2gb card and the batteries that came with the camera are still going!! it takes really good pictures and is quite easy to use. i would definetly recomment this camera.

Very good...

This is a very reasonable camera. The specification is impressive and the price is even better. The camera copes well generally allround and is incredibly simple to use. The interface is very simple and self explanatory. The back screen is LCD at 2.5 inches and produces a fantastic picture and true to life photo. The camera looks very slick and is nothing complicated.

Neat, stylish, good quality

My sister-in-law had one when she visited in the summer. It was easy to use and download simple.
Then a good friend who is a keen photographer said what a neat, high resolution product it was and I was sold.
Bought one.
We love using it.

The XD Card is excellent

But if you are looking for value look elsewhere rather than Smiths because you will be stung for postage

bought this instead of the the"toy" cameras that seem to be popular for kids... this is FAR superior in every way, cheaper - and with only the most minimal coaching our 5 year old is happily snapping away creating great pics using the full auto settings...

recommended as a surprisingly good gift for youngsters or newbies to digital cameras..

A quality camera case in fine leather

I have just purchased this item and am delighted with it. It is very commodious (so do not buy it if you want a dinky handheld case!) and holds my Fujifilm S5800, 2 boxed sets of spare batteries, two SD cards, my Cybershot (in its case!!!) and there is still room for more!!! It has a shoulder strap and a belt loop and I consider it very secure since the top zips shut and then has a foldover flap which is secured by noisy Velcro! When on holiday it will double up as a small handbag to hold a small purse, lippy and a comb! Perfick!!! A quality product at a very reasonable price and certainly not limited to Fuji camera owners. Would be a good SLR camera bag too!

Excellent Value

I was attracted to this camera because of the lens and after seeing the results from my brothers 5600.
Best bits - great lens, wide range of settings but also very easy to use, accepts filters, long battery life, SD card compatible and the price.
Downside - too big to fit into your pocket and struggles a bit in low light conditions (but no worse than any other camera I've used in this price range).
Overall - very pleased.
Top tips - Buy the Fiji camera bag, its well made and has a compartment for spare batteries. Discard the fiddly lens cap and replace with a 46mm filter e.g. Skylight (1B). This fully protects the lens and simplifies use.

Excellent value for money

I was looking around for something to improve on my pocket digital. I wanted a true SLR but my budget couldn't stretch to that. This one met virtually all of my criteria. Powerful optical zoom, image stabilisation, built in flash, standard batteries, quick and easy to use. I set it on fine mode which means each jpeg is around 4Mb, but I wanted to be able to enlarge any picture I took. I put in a 4GB SD card which holds around 400 pictures and have a 2Gb one in case I fill it. I have already had 12" x 8" enlargement prints of some images and they have been crystal sharp.
I bought 8 2700mAh AA batteries and a charger (it uses 4 at a time). Battery life is really good and will easily do a few hundred pictures. Only small criticism is I cannot find a filter to protect the lens, which has a 38.1mm thread.
Very pleased with it and consider it great value.

Fantastic - exceeded expectations

This is a really good camera. I bought it recently and I am so pleased I did. The Shake Control is really good - as good as that on a camera 4x the price. The red eye reduction and face detection work equally well. It's simple to set up, and the software installed very quickly. The only drawbac was that it is from the USA, so I need an adaptor to be able to charge it, but I picked one up for £5. Overall, this is perfect if you want a quality, stylish, tech - packed camera.

A good product at a good price.

I found the delivery was very quick and the product worked well.It has a two year manufacturers gaurantee.
It gave me over 700 pictures at high quality, which is great as I needed to take two days worth of pictures of an open day weekend!The only reason I didn't give five stars was that there was no paperwork.

Fuji finepix S5700/5800 case

The camera does fit in the case but it is not a practical design in use. The camera fits on its side with the lens uppermost which makes it awkward to get in and out. It also has no belt loop so you end up with 2 straps round your neck (the camera and the case). The case is OK if you are just using it to store the camera and use it infrequently, but if you are using the camera frequently (eg when you are on holiday) constantly taking the camera out of the case and putting it back, it is frustrating. After a couple of days I finished up buying a different case, slightly bigger where the camera sits upright. This was much much better.

Just what I wanted .........

Bought new camera in August and needed latest gismo to show off the pictures on my laptop. With so many card readers to choose from decided to take a friend's advice and buy the type specific for my camera. Ordered Friday pm and received Saturday am via normal first class post. Plugged into laptop and didn't have time to make a cuppa; it was so quick to be seen on the screen and pictures were loaded by tea-time. So just what I wanted and extremely good value; so would recommend if you only need a picture card for your super snaps.

Great camera! Can't be closer to a Pro!

I bought this camera because I wanted"all" the features of a Pro, while not having to change the lenses, but still have enough wide angle and zoom power to satisfy my needs. And for this price, this camera couldn't be any better! Well...it could actualy, in terms of frames-per-second. That's the only thing I don't like about this camera. Too slow if you are into sports or high speed shooting. That's where the Pros really show why the higher prices. Besides that, you almost won't notice that this is not a Pro camera, with all it's manual controls and settings. The dual card slot is also very usefull, so you don't waste your previous xD cards, while you can go for bigger capacity and speed CF ones. As I said before, if this camera had the 3fps or higher,like the Olympus one, it would be just a perfect match! If you are not a Pro and don't mind taking pictures at 1.2fps, you'll love this camera. The picture quality is also very good and you won't notice any bigger differences when compared to Pro cameras. As always, it's more important the person behind the camera, than the camera itself. :-) I don't regret buying this camera and I bet that like my previous S5000, it will last me for years and years, without any problems.

Super Camera!

Toss up between this & the Canon Ixus 75. Decided to go for this as I wanted a bit more than point & click. I used to have a Canon Powershot A95 & this completely walks all over it. The colours are miles better. Heartily recommended to anyone who wants a lot in a small package.

Not up to scratch! Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Digital Camera - Silver (12.0MP, 5x Optical Zoom) 2.7" LCD

I have had three compact Fujis and have been very pleased with them. Not so with this one. The colours were distorted, especially in reduced lighting, such as inside a church. I returned the camera to Camera Box and after a very annoying two months was relieved to receive a refund. I would not deal with Camera Box again.

Excellent for a compact camera

I've been using the F100FD for a few months now as a second camera to my Nikon D40 DSLR. All compacts have limitations over DSLRs but all have one big advantage, they are pocketable.

GOOD POINTS
- Good picture quality for a compact. I think this is down to the better Fuji sensor which is a bit bigger than most compacts and has slightly better dynamic range.
- Wide angle, 28mm equivalent is great. Probably there is some distortion but it doesn't bother me. Only a problem for techy geeks who take pictures of brick walls.
- Auto mode great. I guess most people will leave it on auto and let the camera figure things out.
- Face detect is nice feature and works well, as long as you give it time. After the picture is shot it blows up the face on screen which is very handy to check for closed eyes, odd expressions etc.
- Nice build quality. Feels fairly solid but is still compact and lightweight. Recessed screen helps avoid greasy fingerprint problem.
- Portrait mode takes out the wrinkles nicely. Unless your subject is really wrinkly don't use the portrait enhancer mode which overdoes the smoothing.
- Manual mode. Not really manual but automatic with overrides. The override I like to use is to set the white balance to shady. This just warms up the pictures a little.

BAD POINTS
- Slow, as per all compacts. You have to give a moment or two to focus, set the exposure, detect faces etc. by half pressing the shutter release. Not great for action shots.
- Zoom is not very progressive or smooth. In practical use its best to zoom to approximately the right setting and then take a step forward or back to adjust your framing as appropriate.
- Its difficult to get used to the wheel.
- No orientation sensor. This seems like a minor point but its a pain having to rotate your vertical pics all the time.
- Battery life not terrific but sufficient for a few days shooting if you don't play with the camera too much.
- 12MP not necessary. No problem though, I leave the camera on 6MP and can print fine up to 12 by 18 inches which is as big as I want to go.
- Pink banding mentioned by some, but I have not seen it yet in 800+ shots. It seems not to be a problem, at least with firmware 1.02.
