Buyers, beware of counterfeits
I ordered one of these SONY MSXM2GS 2GB Memory Stick(R) Pro Duo Memory Cards from Amazon. I didn't select a specific supplier, so Amazon defaulted to DigiplayUK as the supplier. Having bought a counterfeit memory stick in the past I'm very aware of how prevalent fakes are, so when my memory stick arrived I naturally subjected it to as many tests as possible to make sure it was genuine. Unfortunately it failed every test. I urge everyone who has bought what claims to be a genuine Sony brand memory stick to check it for authenticity. There is a guide on eBay which can show you how to do this (do a google search for 'ebay memory stick' and you should find it right away).6

The extra features are really cool too. You can add all sorts of effects to your pictures to make them interesting. The anti-shake thing worked even better than I thought it would. To test it, I shook the camera as much as I could whilst taking a shot. I looked at it afterwards and there were no signs of shaking at all!
I could go on for longer, but all you really need to know is that it's a fantastic camera. Five stars!

It's amazing!
I bought this camera as a starter camera. I was looking for something that wasn't too expensive but was GOOD. I didn't want to have blurry, horrible images. I decided to get this one (Amazon seemed to be the website that had it cheapest that I knew I could trust). I got it today, and I was so happy with it! The picture quality was amazing - I could zoom right in and see dust in fine detail! It's really simple to use too - there are a lot of on-screen instructions. I only needed the instructions booklet to find where the battery went in. Other than that, I just worked it out myself.The extra features are really cool too. You can add all sorts of effects to your pictures to make them interesting. The anti-shake thing worked even better than I thought it would. sharp high resolution images at 8.1MP
a hefty 4x optical zoom
powerful flash that gives you superb photos in poor light
user-friendly menu and navigation
great looking camera
The low points are:
the camera is smaller than I imagined, feeling awkward in my clumsy hands
relatively small LCD screen - at 2.5cm (my old Kodak camera had 3cm)
annoying music when you turn it on - I havent got round to turning the sound off
I also advise getting a decent case as the screen looks like it will scratch easily.

Cool-looking camera that gives sharp bright photos
After being really impressed with the picture quality from a friends Sony Cybershot DSC-W100 I decided to take the plunge with a Sony camera. This model took my eye because of the black design. After a few months of playing around (being a casual photographer) I am very happy with my purchase.For me, the major plus points are:
sharp high resolution images at 8.1MP
a hefty 4x optical zoom

I'm sure a genuine version of this product is a great item, but I recently bought one of these from an Amazon Marketplace Seller and it turned out to be a fake! The battery life is very good after one charge and 150 pictures it is still on 66% charge and this includes all the playing around with the camera i have been doing.
I can really comment on the quality of the photos as i have only just started to get the hang of it but they do look very good quality.
I also have a tamron 70 300 lens with it which seems ok and certainly allows me to take some long distance pictures.
The last item i got with the camera is two 4gb sandisk ultra 3 cards which each hold around 250 raw files on them or about 190 raw and jpeg pictures on each one.
I would highly recomend this as a first DSLR.

excellent first DSLR
Just got this camera and have to say am really impressed with it so far, It is definitely a step up from my previous camera a dsc v1 by sony, so far have only shot about 150 pictures with it all in RAW format only to allow for working in photoshop easier.The battery life is very good after one charge and 150 pictures it is still on 66% charge and this includes all the playing around with the camera i have been doing.

Buyer Beware, i recieved a fake through amazon z-shops. How do i know?? When you look at the stick through my psp it says magic gate support unknown, instead it should say supported, if it was official. Loses data every time i turn my psp off or delete data(breaks other data on the card). Utter rubbish buy offical from the other major online retailer, itll cost more but it will be worth the extra money in less frustration. Amazon please restricted this item to trusted sellers. Great camera but will it be reliable?
I've bought Sony cameras because I believed they had a reputation for reliability, however both this and my previous Sony have both gone faulty within the guarantee period. This camera let me down on a once in a lifetime holiday. Sony are repairing but the memories are lost for ever. My personal experience therefore is that Sony do not make reliable cameras and I would not buy another Sony camera based on this.15

Faulty Memory Stick
The card I received arrived promptly and packaged correctly but it is faulty. About 75% of the photos are great but the rest are corrupted and I never know which ones will end up being corrupted. Many look fine in thumb nail format but when you open them up half the photo is stripes or similar. Others are totally corrupted and can't be viewed at all. I don't use my camera that often so didn't notice the problem until after our family holiday and of course it is now too late to get a refund/ replacement so an all round disaster!!!!
