Review for Canon Pixma MP610, Photo All-in-One (3-in-1) with colour TFT screen and Easy Scroll Wheel.:
Canon Pixma 610 All in One Device
The product is extremely well packaged and presented. Both Hardware and Software setup was logical and quick. However, after only 3 days of light use, the device presented an Error which required it to be returned to the factory - Not an uncommon occurence on this model. In 12 months, it has been returned 3 times. The fault has now occured again outside of the 12 month Warranty and must be returned to a Canon repair centre. Both the Canon support and printer reliability of this model has been severely below the standards I expected of Canon. I simply would not recommend this device to anyone as the error is known fault which in the interests of customer service and satisfaction should have been dealt with through a product recall.

An excellent printer, great quality photo prints from an SD card, fast photocopies and VERY easy to install on my XP computer. I read the negative reveiws with some care, all I can think is, those who had difficulty installing the printer software, did NOT read the instructions. I am an experienced PC engineer with Microsoft certification, but still always read instructions. Any problems can usually be avoided that way.

Superb All In One
This is a fantastic Printer/Scanner/Copier. Very easy to set up using the User Guide and works flawlessly within my wireless network. Id recently swapped from a desktop to a Laptop and decided that i wanted a wireless printer to go with it. Really pleased i went with this one. It does everything it says it does effortlessly and is so easy to use. Was set up within 30 mins of taking out of the box (at least 10 mins of that unpacking/installing the inks etc). very Highly Recommended!

Awesome Photo Printer
Ive only had this printer for a few hours, i bought it for my photography course so i could print my photos at home, and the quality is amazing for a £30 printer, its easy to set up, the ink cartridges are a pretty good price considering the quality, so if your looking for a printer for photos you cant go wrong with this one. one thing that your gonna need to buy is a lead to connect the printer to the computer.

Watch the power lead
No problem with the printer - it looks great and is really easy to setup. I'm a MAC user so always worry about compatability but the Canon works fine with OSX10.4 and installation was a breeze. The only thing I thought I'd mention is mine was delivered with a European two pin power cable - not a UK specific 3 pin. It wasn't a problem because I had a 3 pin on my old Canon printer that I could use, but if you don't have a spare you might get caught out...

Not supported on Vista 64
This printer is not compatible with Windows Vista 64bit which has been out since the release of vista. 64bit is the next generation of computing so the fact no driver has been released may indicate that this printer is not future proofed, ie it may not work if you plan to buy a computer in the future.

I bought this printer 6 weeks ago, and upgraded to Vista 64bit after running the microsoft tool which said all drivers were compatible. I regret buying this printer as everything else works fine. A complete waste of my money and/or time.

Review for Epson Stylus Photo PX800FW Photo All In One Printer with Fax and WiFi:
Excels at photo printing, good for mac
I purchased this printer to replace my HP3310 which was of a similar spec, but just wasn't producing good enough photo prints after 3 years of (good) service. I have only ever owned HP printers, so changing to Epson was quite a big deal for me. At around £250, it isn't cheap either considering you can get a wireless enabled printer for less than £100 these days.

Firstly, this printer is aesthetically very pleasing to look at and compact in its nature, with no odd parts sticking out here or there. It has a big touch panel display, which is very intuitive to use. Note however that when viewing your photos and scans on the display, it will only use up the middle portion. Still big though. It has 2 paper trays, one for A4 size paper and the other for 5x7 or lower size photo paper, which saves you having to fiddle about changing paper depending on your activity. Operation is very quiet, prints come out quickly, even photos.

Now as I mentioned earlier, the quality of photo printing is awesome. The same picture printed in a professional lab doesn't look as good as the output on this. This is definitely a printer for photo enthusiasts. Ordinary printing looks no better or worse than any other printer to be honest. The scans come in at respectable times. Photocopying works as expected. I don't use fax so I can't comment. There are a few other bits and pieces which may appeal to certain people like being able to print ruled/graph/note paper straight from the printer (filofax anyone?) and something called colouring book mode (for kids). The direct to CD/DVD printing is welcome and the tray is built in and automated. A memory card reader is built in, as is a pictbridge USB port. On the back you have your ethernet, USB, power and fax inputs. On the top is an auto document feeder. Changing the ink is as simple as lifting the scanner lid.

The printer is supposed to be energy efficient which is a bonus in this day and age. I do have some concerns about this printer though. I've read on the net that epson print heads tend to break down just out of warranty, only time will tell. The ink cartridges appear to be quite small, so it may not be the cheapest price/print ratio. The paper output tray is a little flimsy, as is the flap that covers the paper trays. Bluetooth is not standard, you will need a bluetooth dongle to enable this feature. Disappointing on a printer this expensive. As is the lack of duplexing, on top of the fact that the duplexing unit (at around £30) is seemingly impossible to get hold of at the time of writing this review.

A note about setup on a OSX Leopard. The included setup is straightforward. It has a step by step configuration for using wirelessly. Again pretty easy to setup because it pulls your routers settings off the router via an ethernet cable (you must connect the ethernet cable to the router before setting up the wireless), all you need is your WEP password or similar. I believe the printer has 'N' specification wireless which is plus for most recent mac hardware purchasers. The drivers and colour profiles are installed via the setup CD and of course you get a small suite of applications to use but most people will be using iPhoto or Aperture to print their pictures. Using the printer in Aperture is alot easier than the HP because when you select for example borderless 4x6 the printer knows to use paper in the photo tray automatically (unlike the HP). The epson software is alot less bloated than the HP software for macs (anyone who has had to download software updates from HP knows what I mean). Overall, I feel the mac support from epson is alot better than HP, which is one thing that did worry me with the switch.

Overall I would recommend this printer for the quality of photo prints and the way in which features are implemented. It is a quick, quiet, attractive and easy to use. If its within your budget, go for it.

So much for ink included!

Its a complete con telling you that you get a set of ink cartridges included with the printer. My ink level was"low" before I printed a single thing, straight after I installed the cartridges. I then managed to print two A4 photos on the sample paper that came with the printer and now it wont print anything because the Cyan has run out completely.

If this is how often I have to replace the ink I will not be pleased! But I suspect Epson just didn't put any ink in the cartridges they sent me... cheapskates!

Other than that it prints nicely. I can't say its the easiest thing to install software-wise. I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.5 and it has installed a billion little applications. It would be neater if they compiled it all into one application.

I managed to get it to print OK over the network, but couldn't scan to the PC without using a USB cable (not provided).

I've also had issues with the CD tray as it clunks and grinds around and makes a hell of a lot of noise and finally pushes out a thin gray tray for you to put a CD on. Sometimes it doesn't spit it out far enough so you can't get the CD onto it.

Considering its an Epson I have to say I'm quite disappointed. Its not built to the quality I was expecting. Shoddy work.

Review for HP 2PACK NO339 BLACK INK:
Why do Hp Only Half Fill A 339 Cartridge, 21mls When You Can Get 34mls Of Ink In It!!!!!!!
Well I think people are starting to realise that original branded 339 ink cartridges are way too expensive, and offer the same quality as British premium compatible cartridges.

I myself have spent so much money on original 339 ink cartridges and now have found it to be much cheaper to go for the compatible ink cartridges.

I now buy from advantage-online.co.uk and i find their customer service to be fantastic and their price to be very competitive.

Im one of these guys who always complains about the level of customer service in the Uk, people don't seem to care about their company and can't wait to have a fag break or goto the pub. So i am happy that i have found advantage-online.co.uk as their customer service is the best in my experience. mmm i feel good actually saying something nice about customer service.

Epson Stylus SX400 All-in-One Printer

New Price: £54.25

Review for Epson Stylus SX400 All-in-One Printer:
Epson SX400 all in one.
I got this printer for my Dad, his old Epson CX3200 all in one suffered a print head problem that was terminal, so got him the Epson SX400 as a replacement and as his Christmas gift.

Once the printer arrived I set it up for him without any problems.

The SX400 has a small colour LCD display, this will display photo's from flash cards inserted into the built in card reader, but the main function is to display the menu, this is fairly easy to navigate, you can change print output settings, paper type, maintenance functions ETC. You can perform basic photo editing within the printer such as red eye reduction and trimming of photos, so you can use the printer as a stand alone without a PC.

The scan/copy functions are easy to use with just the push of one button, colour or B&W, it a simple operation.

Now for the down side, this printer drinks ink, after just 3 weeks of ownership and light use my Dad has already had to replace the yellow cartridge due to an error message 'cannot recognize cartridge' NO low ink warning, i suspect the cartridge had run out of ink. I phoned Epson customer support when this error occurred only to be told that I should replace the ink cartridge, Epson refused to send a new one to replace the faulty one, they did give me a postal address to send the cartridge back to for them to test but without a guarantee of a replacement, and this is supposed to be customer service!! The magenta and cyan are also very low, on our local high street these cartridges cost a whopping £9.99 each. I know the cartridges that Epson supply are only half full, so when you first charge the print heads half the ink has already been used up, I find this ridiculous. You can get compatible cartridges for this printer at £12 a set.

This printer is noisy and slow, the advertised PPM is completely wrong, if you print a photo on highest quality then go and make yourself a cuppa, sit back and wait. Print output quality is not too bad for a 4 ink system, colours appear well defined and sharp with Epson paper, but if you use a cheap photo paper then the results will be disappointing, lacking in contrast and plain old dull.

The build quality is not that great, the cheap looking high gloss black design will show every scratch and attracts dust like steel to a magnet, it seems very flimsy, with the paper feed trays and scanner lid appearing to be very fragile and the LCD monitor is not too well fixed either, no good if you have kids around.

I have always owned Epson printers, currently an R360,R300 & Stylus 860,and other models that I have passed on, they have always been very reliable. But I am very concerned with the way that their products seem to be going downhill, and running costs getting higher, at one time of day you could get compatible cartridges for pennies but not anymore.

I paid £65 for this printer and to be honest would not want to pay anymore than that price, my Dad is happy with it, he prints cutting sheets on standard A4 paper most of the time and the printer is fine for that but start pushing this printer with A4 size photo's and that's when you will fined it's Achilles heal.

Buy extra paper and ink!!!!
I bought this as a Christmas present for my Mum who has a digital camera but no computer or printer. The quality of the prints is really good and the speed is quicker than stated in the instructions. Only a couple of things I wasn't happy with. Firstly it comes with only three pieces of photo paper (one of which has to be used to check alignment) and an ink cartridge that will only print 10 pictures, all of which seems a bit stingy and I wish I'd bought extra supplies. The other thing is that the detailed instructions are on a disc which isn't a lot of help when you've bought it because you don't have a computer.
All in all a lovely little printer that I would recommend but buy extra supplies from the beginning!

Epson Stylus Photo R2880 A3 Photo Printer with individual inks

New Price: £422.71

Review for Epson Stylus Photo R2880 A3 Photo Printer with individual inks:
Good quality prints but poor documentation and expensive ink
I bought this to replace an R800 that was showing banding on photos and which the local Epson service agent was unable to fix.
It was easy enough to set up and the prints look great. I used genuine Epson ink and premium glossy photo paper with Photoshop colour management (the software installation automatically added the R2880 colour profiles to the Photoshop print menu). Blacks are particularly good - the R800 blacks had a warm colour cast. Bright colours are possibly slightly better in the R800 but there's not much in it. However, the R800 was very poor at printing dark greens.
Speed is very slow on max quality setting but on standard setting much faster and I couldn't see any difference in quality - even under a magnifying glass.
However, I was very disappointed when, after 3 days, I did a nozzle-check. The printer went into an extended cleaning cycle and then showed that one of the nozzles was blocked. I did another nozzle check and again it did a cleaning cycle before printing the nozzle check pattern. This appeared to use around £12 worth of ink, although it's difficult to tell as the ink-level window doesn't give a very accurate display - earlier versions of the printer status monitor at least had graduation marks against the displayed ink levels.
There is no printed manual supplied and the electronic manual doesn't mention this behaviour. I've now seen similar complaints in the US Amazon web site.
Next time I did some printing the problem didn't happen and the nozzle check was fine, so maybe this is just a teething problem.
So overall, I am happy with it but a bit nervous of the apparently random cleaning cycles and the amount of ink that gets used as a result - the R800 would check the nozzles and then give the option of nozzle-cleaning or not. Especially disappointing as Epson are supposed to have improved the nozzle and ink technology so why so many cleaning cycles? Then again, if it makes the printer last longer than my R800, perhaps it is worth it.
Summary:
Very good colours
Excellent blacks and greys
Good speed on standard quality setting
Max quality setting appears to be no better than standard setting
Worrying, unpredictable and expensive automatic nozzle cleaning (not described in the manual)
No printed manual.
Although I have not used Epson's support service for this printer, experience with previous printers have left me unsatisfied.

Review for Polaroid PoGo Digital Photo Printer, Using Zero Ink (Zink) Technology:
Two weeks later - still no pictures
I have digital cameras, PDAs, ipods, iphones, laptops etc but I have never had a device as frustrating as this. The first thing you should be aware of is that it ships with almost no instructions - just a few pictures. You can try the polariod website but you won't find much more help there. There's a blue"smart sheet" you have to insert with the printer paper that says the printer will not work without it and chides you to keep it on the bottom of the 10 pack of paper - the first thing the printer does is spit it out so do you put it back in again ? I have no idea and neither will you whether you read the online manual or not. Neither is it clear which way up the paper is supposed to go. I'm going to try and get a refund on the basis that it clearly fails to live up to its promise of"Enjoy instantly, anywhere". Good luck !

Epson Stylus RX585 All-in-One High Quality Photo Printer

New Price: £84.99

Review for Epson Stylus RX585 All-in-One High Quality Photo Printer:
Epson RX585
I bought this printer as a replacement for the Epson R200 which was a fantastic photo printer for 4 years (until the print head started playing up).
Having read loads of reviews singing the praises of the RX585, particularly for its photo printing quality, I opted for this model. What a disappointment!
The photos I printed intially on glossy inkjet photo paper were very grainy in appearance and colours (especially black) were poorly matched to the actual colours, with the black printing as red.

However, once I used Epson's own premimum glossy photo paper prints are perfect and would give photo labs a run for their money.

Overall the printer is very good and software fairly easy to use, but photo quality is only good as long as you use Epson's own ink and paper making it quite expensive to run.

Review for HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one/EN 34ppm:
Excellent printer!
I'm always dubious when purchasing a new printer, but when this printer arrived and was set up I was very impressed. I've had various other brands before and I've always returned to HP. The past few printers I had are all-in-one printers, but this time I want to have a fax machine as well and rather having a seperate machine taking up desk space I found the HP C7280. I choose it for 3 reasons, i's an all-in-one with Fax, it's photo quality and has a Pict Bridge port. The other features such as card reader, wifi/ethernet and built in screen were just nice extras.

Once out of the box it's only very slightly taller then my old printer so fit the space nicely. Setting up the printer was so surprisingly simple, switch it on put the cartridges in (of which it has 6) and away it went. Setting up the feature was simple and intuative even the Fax I've have a seperate answer machine on the same line and even that has been no hassel.(I've not got mine connected to the network used good old USB not included) All in all had the machine up and running in about 10 min. It took longer for the software to install! lol All the features/settings are accessable from both the control panel and via the desktop software.

The built in photosmart software does an excellent job with the pics straight from memory card or camera with the ability to use all common features easily such as crop, red eye reduce, resize, multiple copies, paper/print quality adjustment and even best pic processing. Even has a one touch photo reprint for making reprints of a photo via scanner.

The scanner is very quick with excellent quality and the auto loader is superb quick and simple to use when need to scan/fax multiple pages. The fax machine again has all the functions you need, speed dial, quality adjust, colour/B&W, fax log, fax delay, auto answer which even with my answer machine was not a prob to set up.

The printing of both docs and photos is nice a quick and I'm really very impressed with the quality of the photos it has printed. The printer holds both plain and photo paper in 2 seperate draws so no fiddly swapping, also no need to swap one of the cartridges for photo ink like on my old HP and the printer conatins all the colours required.

My only concern is the cartriges look kinda small and bit worried about how long they'll last, it says that there is enough ink to do 150 quality photos using the HP advanced photo paper (a small pack is included w/ the printer). An extra large cartridge size is available but only for the black ink. But by having the colours in 6 cartriges means you only need to replace the colours as needed with out wasting any unused ink.

Over all this has definately been the best all-in-one printer I've had I really can't express how simple it is to set up and use! and get good results from. I would highly recommend it.

Could'nt ask for better!!!
I ordered the ML-2240 from Amazon.co.uk on the 22th of Oct, and opted for the free delivery. I was very disappointed when a rcv'd notification indicated that it will be delivered between the 28th Oct - 4th Nov. In fact I was contemplating cancelling the order, as like the rest of us, I hate waiting as well. But surprisingly, at 7am on 25th Oct, I received the printer via City Link delivery, amazing that free delivery was made in 3 days.

Only disappointment with the delivery was that the packaging does not include the USB Printer cable, if I knew, I would have included it in the order..

As for the printers performance, I'm amazed.. I've printed some 800 pages of perfect quality text at amazing speed in the past 24 hrs, before I ran out of toner.. Not bad, when the toner included is only supposed to last 600 pages..

Performs like a breeze, is faster than expected, adequate memory to print bulky documents continuously, and is easy to assemble, though the instructions are not included.

Only other drawback, is that the paper tray is unable to hold more than 150-200 sheets at a go..

Nevertheless, an amazing buy, I could'nt have asked for better, after all, it's a laserjet for below GBP50/-

Just remember to include the USB Printer cable in the order!!!

Very happy with this cheap 'n' cheerful all-in-one
Bought this printer in December and have had no issues using it with my laptop running Vista.

Previous reviews complaining about freezing or asking to re-install may be due to the older drivers and software provided. The latest version (v11) I've had no issues with to date.

And to balance out all the negative comments about no USB cable included. It was clear to me the cable was not included with the printer. Having previously owned a USB connected printer I had a cable anyway, so I'm happier paying a few pounds less for a printer rather than ending up with another cable I'll never need.
