Very Impressive!

My cottage garden is totally surrounded with hedging, mostly beech. Never having used a hedge trimmer before, I was a little apprehensive as to how I would manage and what sort of cut it would give. There was, however, no need to worry. This little machine coped magnificently and produced a most impressive result. Much, much faster than by hand shears and the result just as neat. Should have got it earlier!

Considered getting the larger trimmer, but glad I finally decided on this one. Ideal for my garden hedge. It is a little heavier than I had imagined, but is still easily managed. Mind and buy a pair of goggles with it.

I bought this from Amazon it was free delivery and delivered on time. The Trimmer is excellent, trims really thick branches, also has long reach. Very powerful and easy to use. Would recommend to anyone as good value for less than £60

simply the best cordless option

I got a bit woried having read the mixed reviews, but this thing works like a dream.

EXCELLENT VALUE

The JCB-HT60600 is 'excellent value'; for the money paid you are getting a great product. Easy to use with good safety mechanisms (I'm going to sound a bit DIY SOS here, but: safety goggles should be worn if cutting shrubs with needles ... I speak from experience :-) ). High quality cut ...... Perfect first time. My only criticism (as a girlie) is that this may initially appear heavy to some; but within minutes I did get used to the weight. I would highly recommend this product.

Superb bit of kit

I've had one of these for 4 years now, to cope with a hedge of 60 overgrown leylandii (and some smaller but harder shrubs). It's still the sharpest electric cutter I've got, and with it I am able to cut up to 10 ft high before getting the steps out, or taking it up a ladder. Very reliable.

It's very well balanced and despite it's size and reach it handles well, which makes ladder work possible. I prefer it to smaller hedgecutters even for work at 2 or 3 ft up. It's quite handy for fairly small jobs.

The head can be rotated on 2 axes (100 degrees on one, 360 on the other) and you can cut at some very funny angles, which makes topping a wide 6ft shrub much easier.

The dual control switches (one trigger on the handle end which has to be depressed together with any one of the 3 that are spread around the holding yoke near the balance point) mean that it is pretty safe in use.
Fully extended there is, of course, quite a lot of moment of inertia.

For an extremely tall hedge you may be better off with a machine with the motor at the base and a drive shaft up the pole - but that's professional kit and costs 3 to 4 times as much - and those are completely unhandy for smaller work.

Perhaps I should buy another before they realise it's so good that they must"improve" it and thus spoil it....

Easy hedge cutting

This is a fantastic hedge cutter - well worth the extra money over the less powerful ones! The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is it could do with a longer blade. There is a longer blade model available & I wish I had gone with that. This slices through even the toughest parts of my horrendous hawthorn hedge. It is light enough for me to use too. My previous hedge cutter was the Bosch cordless - unless you have a small hedge - stay well clear. Battery only lasts long enough for about 10-15mins effective cutting. Once its power drops it becomes almost useless.

This is a fantastic tool - I highly recommend it.
