a zen replacment
i bought this ipod at the apple store in new york, it was cheaper there than over here. i expected there to be a problem as there is sometimes with electronic goods from america. however i was shocked that there were no problems at all. the only problem which is more to do with software is i am unable to put videos onto it however this is more to do with itunes and my computer rather than the ipod.26

Review for New Apple iPod nano 16GB - Blue:
I'd never had an iPod before. I'd played around with my friends' iPods in the past, and was aware of how they worked and how they function, so I knew what to expect.
But I was surprised.
First, by the size of it.
It's TINY! Extremely thin, very light, but the screen is massive for all your videos etc. The blue is a great, bright colour which looks fantastic on the long thin device.
The sound quality's brilliant. The screen is wonderful, colourful and all your album art looks great on it. Flipping the device to see your Cover Flow is a great feature too, although sometimes I find I might want my iPod on my side but I can't due to the Cover Flow. No biggie though :)
The only other negative point I can think of is the the tempramental Genius feature. Sometimes (about 20% of the time), you'll get"Genius feature not available for this song", or something along those lines. It's probably because there aren't enough tracks that sound similar in your library, but I should imagine Apple will fix it in an update sometime soon.
Overall, I couldn't recommend this more - the 16gb capacity is another great feature.

I bought my iPod nano about 3 days ago, and already I have to say it's brilliant.I'd never had an iPod before. I'd played around with my friends' iPods in the past, and was aware of how they worked and how they function, so I knew what to expect.

Review for Apple iPod touch 32GB:
So, I would be giving a 5 star review if it weren't for Apple's infuriating policies on software.
First and foremost, I paid close to £300 for this thing, so I don't expect to also have to shell out a fiver every time there's a software update! It really is most heinous (and greedy) of them.
Secondly, there is no support (at time of writing) for Flash or Java. I must admit this has only proven a mild irritation in the many hours of web browsing I've racked up, but still it seems an odd omission.
Thirdly, Apple's policy on third party software is rather draconian. They say they're protecting you from malicious attack. I say they're censoring me. I'm an adult, I can make my own decisions about what software I buy and run and I can deal with the consequences. A disclaimer would suffice.
Lastly, the device is tied inextricably to itunes, which is a horrendous behemoth of a program. I can live with this for managing my MP3's, but I'd like to be able to use my ipod as a portable HDD, which is sadly impossible as it doesn't show up in 'My Computer'.
In conclusion, if you're happy playing Mr.Jobs' way, go ahead and buy one of these. But if you want to do anything he didn't prescribe, don't be surprised when he takes his ball home.

Review for Apple iPod touch 32GB:
Great device, as long as you conform.
On the plus side, the ipod touch is a triumph in its design and operation. Although their markets are not the same, by comparison Sony's PSP (a similar device in some ways) feels old and clunky. I only mention this because when I bought my PSP, relatively recently, I was unable to imagine how anything could appear more futuristic. The itouch battery life isn't great if you're browsing the web, but then again I have never used any Wi-Fi device with a battery life over a few hours for constant browsing. So, I would be giving a 5 star review if it weren't for Apple's infuriating policies on software.

Not built to last
Having had an Ipod classic which stopped working after just 15 months and then a 'refurbished' version which lasted not quite a year I tried to dissuade my son from purchasing another Ipod. Won over, however, by its style and the new 'touch' gadgets I was over ruled and a 16gb Touch was purchased in September. Yesterday, after less than 2 months, it has given up the ghost - broken - won't even switch on! Why oh why do people buy these things - they are not built to last - please don't be swayed by the looks and gadgets - and if you do buy make sure you take out some sort of breakdown insurance - you are sure to need it!!31

This iPod looked dodgy ever since it came out. It looks more or less a miniature version of the ipod classic. It's just £50 than a classic. This only store 8 GB while classic store 80 GB and it has no extra features whatsoever. Finally the 4th generation is out and that can do things the classic can't so don't buy this.32

Review for New Apple iPod nano 16GB - Yellow:
Yes it doesn't charge with most speakers but if it's fully charged the battery lasts for ages anyway so just charge it over night!
People have also complained about the cover flow. I think it's fine. To be honest it looks dam good when you have all the album covers on there.
All in all it looks great, sounds great, and functions great there is no other mp3 I would consider buying.

Review for Apple iPod nano 8GB silver:
In summary:
Pros:
- very small and light
- nice bright display and a good size
- cover flow (the ability to scroll through you albums by cover) is a nice touch
- the circular touch control is great for navigating very quickly through large lists
- Battery life is more than sufficient, allowing for more than 20 albums on a single charge (will be much less if you watch videos though)
- volume is sufficiently loud without being deafening
Cons:
- if your thumb is larger than a child's the controls can be awkward - when pressing the central button you'll often inadvertently touch the circular touch controls before pressing the menu button, so you'll annoyingly select the wrong item and have to go back a step.
- occasional file corruption - one of my songs cuts out before the end. This doesn't appear to be uncommon with nanos. I copied come music on a 2GB nano and it refused to play one particular song, whether ripped directly from CD or copied from a mp3 file on my PC.
- curruption with album art, some covers remain black, despite recopying, deleting and re-copying from my PC.
- the circular touch control is awkward to use when trying to scroll up or down a single item in the list because it's quite sensitive
- photo quality is not great (I suppose because it resizes them to fit)
- the supplied headphones are OK but not great, you can get a better pair for around 12 pounds (I wouldn't wear white ones anyway!)
- the default screensaver is the clock, but I can't find a way to change this to the `Now Playing' screen, I can't see why you can't cutomise this
- it has crashed twice in the space of a few days, forcing me to reset it. Not a good sign.
So it's not the most stable piece of kit, the controls can sometime be a pain but, as I expected with ipods, this is the sacrifice you make for something which packs so much in such a small space, and seems to be aimed at people who are more concerned about image than function.

Review for Apple iPod Nano 8GB - Pink:
I've had my nano for a few months now and have had no problems. The controls took a little getting used to (I previously owned a Zen Touch) but it was easy to pick up and I find it very intuitive to use. My only complaint is that I could do with a little more space than 8gb.

Easy to use, great to look out and excellent sound
The iPod nano is gorgeous (both screen display and casing) and works well. It produces a great sound (although I must say that the generic earphones that come with it aren't very good - I swapped mine for a pair of £10 Sennheisers that do a much better job). From what I've seen (though I don't use this feature very much) its video playback is also very sharp.I've had my nano for a few months now and have had no problems. I found it quite annoying
When I first got an iPod from my brother as a birthday present, I was really excited about the prospect of having all that music wherever I go. But as time went on, I learnt that you simply had to be a geek to use the dambed thing. The speakers [which they claim are `top of the range`] were crackling and distorting after a while, and even after I switched them for a new set they were STILL distorting. I wanted to buy some iTunes, but when I found out the cost, I wasn`t so keen, and I thought I`d better stick to CDs which have cheaper songs [most of the time]. Then I discovered a way in which i could really use the iPod, and which saved it from a 1 star rating: you buy rip-off cables from PC world, hook them up to your sterio, attach the iPod onto the othere end and bob`s your unkle: you have 500 songs playing randomly out of loud speakers; great right? Wrong. at first it was fun, but then once I got bored of the songs on it i started putting CDs in because I just couldn`t face the strain of putting new songs on it, or paying for them. Science then it has come to be a piece of living, working modern history, waiting for my boffin years. If I were you, I`d save up to buy something more useful, like a chinese hymn book.37

good idea but the Apple is bruised !
purchased one of these little gems and found the sound reproduction distorted .No matter what I tried and believe me I did it didn't solve the problem.Apple is NEXT TO USELESS when it comes to any support their solution to every problem is"reset it" after countless forums and going around in circles I presented the problem to Amazon who advised me to call Apple at NATIONAL RATE ..I was not happy to do this and to be fair to Amazon they refunded my money with no problem .I purchased a new 120 gig Ipod classic and that sounds a dream proving me right. To sum up Apple are a waste when it comes to any help have a look at how many help forums there are for people experiencing problems with their Apple productsFor such a big company they should be ashamed.
