Apple does it again

How small can an iPod get? This one is so tiny that it doesn't have an Apple interface but recharges and exchanges data via the headphone socket using a special jack -> usb lead. As always it is beautifully made and has inherited the metal buttons of the iPhone 4 for the on/off switch and voiceover control. I bought this for my wife to take to the gym as it has a clip on the back to attach to her clothing and she loves everything pink. The sound quality is exactly what you expect from an iPod and it holds plenty of music for a workout session, the hundred or so songs I put on for her barely filled it halfway. I imagine that this product is aimed at the fitness crowd and will sell like hot cakes at this price however I feel sorry for the people who make those iPod armbands because the clip makes them redundant. Get one before the price goes up.

Great buy

Great headphones. Original as described.I use them with my shuffle and find the wire is a perfect length to use running. Speedy delivery.

Much better than mark 3.

I am one of the many people who had mark 2 shuffles and was looking for an alternative product as I did not like the mark three, due to the earphone/controls. I use a shuffle all the time and need two as I like to keep different things on different iPods, one for music and the other for learning my foreign language. I tried a san disk but just could not get used to it at all after an ipod, it would not play all my music formats as I had imported in different ways using itunes, (no problem playing any of the formats on ipods), and I could not get rid of an embedded File"Oh Danny Boy", which kept blasting out as I was driving along listening to my Spanish phrases. I was soooooo relieved when the mark 4 appeared.

ADVANTAGES
The mark 4 has the advantage of course that it has the controls on the machine not the earphones, (vital if you are using it in a car as I often do). It has the advantage of the sound/speach feature, (tracks can identify themselves orally by pressing a button, allowing you to navigate to the track you want). It will auto sync, (which the mark 3 would not do). This takes a bit of getting used to if like me you have not seen this interface before, but it is worth getting used to, you can still add items individually, but it allows you to sync the last few episodes of your podcasts and all the contents of certain files, without having to do it manually. there is a live link between the iTunes folders, and your iPod and it automatically edits the contents of your iPod to include whatever you have asked it to keep up to date with. This is so useful, and of course you can add and delete things yourself manually in addition.

DISADVANAGES (only two very small ones, in my opinion)
I got so used to the mark two and I think it was a perfect size. I think that they have made this one a little too small. I find that as I pin the item on, I often turn it on because they have got rid of the blank space under the controls, and this was the part that your thumb conveniently pressed to pin the clip on. I find that it is harder to put on now, as you can not put your finger anywhere except on the control. I also do not like the fact that they have put the shuffle/play button on the same sliding switch as the on/off button because I tend to leave it rather than turn it off( because I invariably end up putting it on shuffle instead of play, as it is now the same switch, ( as I listen to podcasts and recordings I do not want shuffle as they must be listened to in order). I find that I am inadvertently switching it on, (due to not being able to touch the clip without touching the dial, and if I do not have my earphones on I am unable to tell it is on and I run the battery down. Perhaps over time I will get used to this but I have been spoilt by the perfect proportions of the mark two.

CONCLUSION - BUY ONE
Although there are some regressive design steps in my opinion, I would still recommend buying one as, there is nothing like a shuffle and the sync, and voice features are great additions. Perhaps apple will be able to tweak this design for the mark five, so you can clip it on without turning it on without your knowledge, - then it will be perfect!

new updated shuffle

i had the older shuffle and didnt like the shuffle they bought out after it, the long thin one, not practical for me as i use it for running and carnt use inear phones so, having volume on the supplied earphones no good for me so was pleased when this model appeared. slightly smaller and squarer but nearly the same, as old one, better volume and longer battery life than older model and voice over telling you artist and track title, no interest to me but, the low battery warning a plus, so you wont run out unexpectedly. all in all im very pleased with it perfect for sports, would always choose this model,easy to use no fuss

Much more convenient than a lap top

Great piece of kit, chargers faster than my laptop and is much more convenient.The silicon case is worth having to as it gives good protection to the shuffle. I would definately recommend it.

IPOD SHUFFLE CHARGER

I bought this MP3 for my daughter who is only 4 yr old and this is fab so easy to use perfect colour really good sound and so easy to place downloads on.i would definatly reccomend this MP3,i am evan going to borrow this when i go gym as it sounds better than mine.My daughter loves it and it makes her feel really grown up.thank you.

2GB suffle MP3 player

it's ok, very easy to put music on.

It doesn't shuffle music, it just plays it in the order which you upload it which its a bit annoying, as every time you turn it of and back on again you start at the beginning again. It could do with a switch to choose between either continuous play or shuffle mode. Pretty simple straight forward MP3 player.

Well worth the money

Bought to accompany IPod shuffle as a present for my daughter who doesnt have easy acces to PC. Not only does it do the job on the new IPod but it has also kicked into life the old model which we thought had died. Reasonable price quick delivery no problems.

Cheap easy to use.

I bought this product because I lost my ipod nano.

I wanted this as a temp mp3 player not a permanent one and it was cheap.

It is easy to use and works great. With 2GB got enough space for the songs you like, I am going to buy a ipod nano again or something else but will be using this one for walking and everything.

Cheap, works great. Like the old ipod shuffle but not as expensive and all you need to do on this is drag and drop songs onto the mp3 player.

Ipod Shuffle

The ipod shuffle itself is great but the headphones are just rubbish! I bought it to use at the gym and it is almost impossible to keep the headphones in especially when you are on the treadmill. You cannot just plug any headphones in so I have had to pay for an adaptor so I can change them over. Apple really need to think about adapting the shape of the headphones.

not a fish

The shuffle is great, you need to make sure that you download your songs in the right way in play lists, but it's great for what it is. The battery is good too. One big draw back though is that it doesn't work after you submerge it in a pool on a Greek island.

No Good for Training

This Ipod looks stylish but has a major design flaw in its headphones. It needs Apples own headphones with the remote control to operate it but these will not stay in your ears while running rendering the thing near useless for the gym or running. I'm a big Ipod fan but feel let down by this product.

Flawed genius

I usually say to people that I love all things Apple, but that would be pushing it with this. I bought this when it first came out from the Apple store in New York and was delighted with it. I couldn't wait to get it back to the hotel room and unwrap it for the first time. It's form factor and feel are classic Apple - Fantastic. It has a lovely metallic surface and just feels 'right'. However since then I have not used it anywhere near as much. Why is that - Lack of screen, space and connectivity I guess. I will explain.

Screen - Yep - Certainly knew it did not have a screen when I bought it and so cannot complain. However it has stopped me using it as much. Don't know why, just has.

Space - To be honest 1gb in retrospect is not enough for me to add the playlists that I use in the gym.

Connectivity - Due to the fact that it has to have it's own dock and does not have the 30pin connector I cannot charge it in the car etc as I do my other iPods and iPhone.

I bought this predominantly for the gym where it really ought to be perfect - Low weight, nothing to break, clips to your clothing etc - Except I use a Nano with an armband for the above reasons.

2 Star seems mean but that is for the design which is gorgeous. Other than that it is now an expensive paper weight which I never use. Very rare, if ever that I say that for an Apple product and hence the two stars.

Looks like real thing!

Arrived promptly and looks just like the real thing, even has the grey rubber with the apple insignia on the bottom - great buy!
