good for a while

Ill start with the good points.
It holds a decent amount of music, and the sound quality is pretty good too, its easy to get it on the player. Its pretty easy to use. Battery life is good.
Bad points
When you have a lot of music on there, it can take ages to scroll through to get the band you want to listen to.
It takes an age to build up a playlist.
when set on shuffle, even though I had 16Gb of music on there it only played from a selection of about 50 songs.
worst of all, the player locks up frequently. If you are a runner and want a player to listen to as you run, avoid these, as they dont like movement and will freeze miles away from any implement to reset the device. (a paper clip)
mine has now got to the stage where it wont turn on unless you reset it, then its fine until you want to turn it off, it wont. Its now outside the warranty period, and I cant be bothered to pay to have it fixed,
My friend also has one, and is experiencing similar problems, he is considering sending his back. Unfortunately my review is more negative than positive, but thats the way it is, an expensive mistake!

2Gb Clix - superb kit

It is small & neat, but seems robust.
It sounds brilliant, and watching movies is good (I had my doubts until I tried it, the compression is fine). To do this you need the Iriverter software, which works nicely. It can record through a built in microphone (to a reasonable standard). Software works. It is easy to use. The 2Gb memory is plenty (& there is a 4Gb Clix if you are greedy)(can't quite think what I'd do with 60Gb...). The battery lasts for ages.
All in all iRiver have got it right.

Beautiful little case

Beautifully soft leather case with a magnetic catch. Looks very nice indeed but be aware that it increases the bulk of the tiny L-Player considerably. Not so much that it's an issue, it just detracts from the players minimalism. Power and volume are accessible without opening the case and you can even operate the four-way screen switch through it. I find that whilst left, right and down keys work fine (case opened or closed), the up key is more difficult to operate (even when the case is opened). For me this is a minor issue. Didn't need or want the carabiner clip but I am sure some of you will. High quality, well made case using top notch leather, that protects the unit very well.
