Excellent Piece of Equipment

I love this compact food processor, it is just the right size to keep on your worktop and it looks great. Not only that, it is very solid and never shakes. I use mine for everything, chopping onions, grating, slicing, pureeing, cake making, crumble and pastry mixes, it's fantastic. The box neatly houses all the slicers/graters, blades etc, I also ordered the chipper and julienne grater, however, the chipper is very fine and I was bit disappointed. A piece of equipment that will last you for years.

Wonderfully quiet and powerful processor

I ordered this processor after I bounced the bowl of my Waring duet blender/processor (see separate review) and broke some of the plastic lugs which held the lid on. It turns out that it's essentially impossible to get a spare bowl and so I looked for a complete replacement. The Magimix doesn't do (at least in theory) as much, as it's just a processor and doesn't have a blender jug. But the build quality is fabulous, the spare parts are easy and cheap to get and it feels much more solid than the Waring. The motor is also very quiet and it makes very short work of chopping whatever you throw into it. The mini bowl, which sits (after a bit of fiddling) on top of the larger bowl, looks a bit gimmicky, but it's really good for chopping small amounts of things like garlic.
The processor also comes with several other attachments, including juicer, a whisk, and a grater, none of which I've tried.
I liked the Waring a lot, but this processor is really a great deal better, at least for my purposes; it's weighty, more sturdily constructed, looks good and strikes me as better value for money.

good for a few months

I have been using this processor for some time... the first which i got had the motor gone just after 6 months(i just used it occasionally, not daily-thankfully i had the receipt n got an exchange)the other however worked for 10 months(i have lost the receipt this time) and this time the motor is going OK but the blade attachments are all worn and is no more in working condition(although i have been mostly using it for slicing/chopping the onions, nothing hard) However the blades are good and so far i dont have any issues with the blades, but its attachment to the chopper is all worn and on whole its of no use to me any more. I am gonna buy a new one now and this time ofcourse not the prestige one.

Waste of money

I can't even begin to say how disappointed I am with this machine. It does not have variable speed and the motor seems under-rated. The food plunger needs to be two thirds of the way down to enable the motor to operate so you have to cut the food short before putting it into the machine - I thought it was meant to save you labour!. Needless to say I am very disappointed and will be selling mine!

Good Quality Motor but Poorly Thought out Attachments

On the plus side this machine has a really solid motor unit. All the attachments feel solid and well built. Making pastry is a breeze (chuck the dry stuff in process and add the liquid and its done).

The paddle for whisking egg whites or presumably cream is really odd in my opinion - I would have preferred a balloon whisk that fitted into a geared attachment. The centrifugal force means the egg whites are spun out to the edge of the processor bowl so I just use a hand mixer. This is my fourth food processor (I'm 42 and had my firse at the age of fifteen as a Christmas present) and none of the for bearers had paddles they all had a proper whisk attachment.

Although the blade attachment is covered by protective plastic cover, it fits onto a centrel"carrier" and I am frightened I could get cut after processing pasty, or whatever is being processed, whilst removing the blade from the carrier (you have a plastic blade and a metal sharp blade that fit on a sort of blade carrier.

There is a small bowl that fits in the main bowl at the top - I made some mayonnaise in this but some of the liquid escapes so you have to wash the main bowl even though its not used. The oil also got under the small blade and the shaft on the main motor got greasy so not really very practical in reality - except for dry stuff possibly.

All in all I'm rather disappointed a food prcessor should be a good all rounder and a good compromise for not having three or four specialist machines. The Braun Multi System was an excellent example of a good all round machine but alas they are really hard to get if indeed they are still made.
