Excellent Value

This is ideal for getting all the juice out of citrus fruit with its reversing action. The jug is a translucent aqua colour (it looks white in the photo) and the other parts are white. The jug and strainer aren't dishwasher proof but are easy to clean if you do so straightaway before the pulp has dried on. It's small, efficient and excellent value for money.

Tasty Food!

This was my 1st steamer, bought 18 months ago, this model probably has a different model number but for the purpose of this review, its pretty much the same. It has revolutionised my ideas of veg! They are now packed with flavour and beautifully cooked. The leaflet included gives times for popular veggies and the timings are spot on. Fish is moist, rice fluffy, potatoes perfect. Also, it's great if your timings of meals isn't great (mine's hit and miss) - you can always steam to time, switch it off then give it a blast of steam for a couple of minutes before serving without the food stewing to a pulp.

The only reason I haven't given this a 5 star rating is the cost of replacement parts. My steamer has had plenty of use but after about a year, the handle on the lid came off, next one of the 'tabs' on the shelves vanished, now the bottom basket is quite cracked and lets some steam out. To replace these 3 parts will cost approx. £30! Cheaper to send the old one to landfill and buy a new one which is a shame.

This said, the steamer is easy to use, easy to clean and VERY easy to store so I will definitely be buying a new one soon (and putting the old one in the loft for spares).

A practical piece of equipment

I am delighted with my new Multi Pro Food Processor. The powerful motor makes the preparation of vegetables so easy. Great for liquidising soups or making smoothies. I use my food processor most days so I need something that is easy to assemble, use, wash and store. Especially like the suction feet as they keep the machine safely in place.

Instruction leaflet is very clear and there is a recipe book that I know I will use.

I do wonder why manufacturers feel the need to try to include quite so many attachments. I haven't used the juice extractor as I know from previous experience with other machines that it will simply not be up to the job. If you want a juice extractor you need to buy a dedicated machine just for that. So rather than fill up my kitchen cupboards the juice extractor has been packed away.

Very pleased with my purchase - a neat practical piece of equipment. Plan to buy my daughter one for Christmas!

Straightforward, but not perfect

This machine is easy to assemble and use, but as Emma Parry says, the resulting frozen dessert is still a bit slushy. I have yet to make a really terrific ice cream. The instructions for recipes are adequate but brief, so I recommend reading up on the topic if you are not experienced already.

Poorly made

I originally purchased the jug in Dec 08. First time i used it the Glass jug cracked. I was given a replacement and all was ok for 3 months. Then when making a bannana, apple and rasberry smoothy, the blade broke.

This is a poorly made peice of equipement which will last only a few months alteast

5 star recommendation

Like others, I did much research before purchasing. After all it would be an expensive appliance purchase to 'get wrong'. I was within seconds of purchasing the Magimix competitor product but after looking at a YouTube demonstration I realised I did not like the requirement to place a saline or alcohol liquid between the bowls mentioned here and buried in the product's online manual AND I did not like how the arm 'looked' that was to turn the paddle... it looked flimsy.

All the positive recommendations here swayed me. After all I already had a Cuisinart US voltage ice cream maker for some time.

Bottom Line: I could not be more pleased with how this product makes ice cream! I am an experienced ice cream maker and have used any number of freezer insert type models over the years. Ice cream can now be made 'on a whim' all that is required is to make the mix, pour it in and turn it on. At first I thought the 40-60 minute churn time would be a negative of the product but the resulting ice cream texture is so good that it is worth the wait. And yes it is a bit noisy while in action but still the time and noise issues are minor given the quality of the outcome. Hence my 5 star recommendation.

Do Not Purchase!

Simply do not purchase this kettle. All the directors are sitting in their executive chairs at £500 each while people are screaming with pain when boiling water pours over them.
Move onto another brand and give Morphy Richards what they weren't wanting.
Im using a John Lewis kettle and it is fantastic!

one small fault

I am very pleased with this product. It has more power than my old Kenwood and the extra attachments are a bonus. I had no problem with either strange smell or weight. The one difficulty I have is in ejecting the blades, as I have arthritic hands, the button is extremely hard to push

Cooks fast for a slow cooker!

Size - You can easily fit a joint / whole chicken in this slow cooker. There are only two of us and it's probably a bit big for our needs but would be excellent for a family.

Settings - There are 3 settings, low, medium and high. A lot of slow cooker books recommend starting the cooker on high. That is definitely not needed with this slow cooker as low is a bit, well, high!

Cooking time - A lot of reviewers have criticised the cooking time / thermostat but I don't have a problem with it and never 'crozzle' anything. Yes, if you turn the slow cooker on before you leave the house in the morning and don't eat until say 7pm then the contents will be crozzled. However, I bought a timer plug for mine. I set it to come on on low at around Midday and everything is cooked perfectly by the time I get home from work. I also find that the over eager thermostat can sometimes be a benefit....I've put mine on high at around 3pm for a couple of hours and then low for a couple of hours and again, everything is cooked to perfection.

Hate it

I couldn't believe the size of this thing when I got it out of the box: It's a struggle to hold it in one hand with your thumb on the grind button. Most of that bulk seems to be air, judging by the weight.

The lid feels very flimsy, with lots of grooves and ridges that the grounds get caught in. It's easy to screw it on the wrong way round, meaning that the motor won't start until you take it off and put it on again.

I get angry every time I use it -- Not a great contribution to the coffee-making experience.

Trouble with spare parts!

This blender has been an excellent addition to my kitchen for the past 3 years and has had constant use for soups and smoothies. However, the blades have become blunt and unfortunately replacement blades are not available and I would have to buy a replacement cutting unit which has a cost of approximately £10. I have chosen to buy a new machine as I did not want to buy a new cutting unit and then have the motor wear out. It would in effect be cheaper to buy a new machine. It's sad because the blender was still in working order and I have had to bin it because of expensive replacement parts.

Kenwood SL250 Food Slicer

I am absolutely delighted with my Kenwood Food Slicer. After struggling for ages to cut my home-baked vegetable breads by hand this has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen appliances. I have cut meat successfully as well but find cleaning it a bit of a bind so I tend to use it just for my bread. It's great and I can recommend it for that purpose. Well done Kenwood.

Great disappointment

I gave this as a present to my parents with great expectations. Unfortunately it is a let down. It doesn't melt the chocolate - that has to be done in a pan - and it wastes so much afterwards in cleaning it - even after saving the excess in a bowl. You need too much chocolate to make it work so you can't just put in less or it won't cascade.

We were very disappointed with it and will revert to the fondue set instead which melts the chocolate and doesn't need or waste so much.

Fast bacon sandwiches for the weekend

We bought this as our cooker grill is hopelessly slow cooking and a pain to clean.

For quick bacon butties, preheat for a few minutes, put your bacon in (GR30 will take 8 rashers), 9 minutes later bacon is ready. In fact, most unfrozen foods cook in around 10 mins as a rough guide.

Wipe down grill with a damp sponge/cloth while still warm so that nothing has a chance to stick.

Common sense dictates keeping it clear of kids and accident prone friends as its very hot. But then so is your hob.

Easy. A great time saver and well recommended.

Poor design

Design isn't just about looking good (and even there I hate the ugliness of this kettle, but that's just my opinion).

Good design for a kitched appliance must also include attention to practicality and usablity. Ergonomically this kettle is almost impossible to hold for filling and carrying when full because it's all out of balance putting a great strain on the hand gripping it tightly and on the muscles in the wrist and forearm. OK you won't be carrying it far but it still feels bad. Also the lid and top opening is very small, hard to remove when hot and awkward to fill through - and it must be removed in order to fill the kettle. The removable filter on the spout is likewise awkward to remove and replace - and if you live in a hard water area you will need to remove and clean this at least once a month.

Even if you are attracted by the looks save your money and look elsewhere.

Bit Smaller Than You Might Think - Check Before You Buy

I was looking for a bigger slow cooker than the 2 litre one I already had. (My USA slow cooker book recommended a larger one so that you could cook for the freezer.) Well this one seemed twice the size - but it's still not what I'd call big. What I'd recommend you do is to fill a suacepan with water and measure what 3.5 litres actually looks like and whether you need an even bigger one. In this cooker 3.5 litres is nearly to the top of the bowl and some recipes can be a bit bulky until they have cooked a while. This one might be fine for a family of four or as one of a pair (you'll soon realise that two slow cookers is what you'll need for a dinner and a pudding or extra side dishes).

So I got the size a bit wrong - but everything else is really good - three heat levels, nice colour that blends into the kitchen, glass lid so you can see in. Works just great and the 3 settings allow you to adjust the cooking duration.

Try the water trick before you buy.

Very good value ...

This is my first juicer. Got it for £20 which is a real bargain. The build is up to Philips usual standard - feels solid and rugged.

It is a noisy beast and you have to juice an awful lot of fruit for a single glass of juice but it has to be said, it is delicious and you can use old fruit and veg from the fridge.

The filter is quite difficult to clean but the rest needs a quick rinse and into the dishy.

It comes with a book for the 'juice king' or whatever he calls himself. Says he helped Jordan loose loads of weight. The book has some interesting recipes and certainly don't order this with his other book as suggested.

All in -so far so good.
