Any advice?

I've just got this, my first breadmaker, and am very pleased with the results I've had, so far. Bread texture has been very good. The recipe for Raisin Bread was also very successful, with lovely texture.

There is one thing I'd like advice about, and that is the best way to remove the paddle. I find that I really have to cut it out carefully, avoiding scratching it. I've read a hint about removing it from the machine during the final rising time (lifting the dough out, spraying a little oil on the spindle, then replacing the dough), leaving a much smaller hole in the bread. I'm wondering if it would allow the machine and dough to cool too much. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has tried this and could recommend it, or offer other ideas.

really good value for money

Bought this processor after trying another brand (that I threw away within months from frustration). Fantastic a processor that does what it is reuired and very well too. Chopes well and the end product does not look like it was ripped apart. Pastry brilliant, just don't add to much water. Nice neat motor unit with sucker feet so it does not vibrate, motor not to noisy, compared to some other brands. Very easy to use, assemble and clean, and the cord storage is an added bonus.
Basically for the money it does all that the more expensive processors do, if you want a processor that's practical and not bothered about the colour, it's brilliant.

well overpriced

just took delivery and not impressed at all.first of all it wouldnt switch off when water boiled(maybe it needed a few boils first as it works now),as the other review states there is no metric measurements(how many cups in 0.7 litres? this is the minimum water level)..the kettle does not switch off when removed from base unit and if replaced on the base unit with the switch in the"on" position it could deteriorate the contacts and cause electrical"arcing"over time, this is a bad safety feature missing which is standard on many cheaper models.As with so many kettles the plastic on/off switch looks too vunerable and could easily be broken if knocked while filling kettle in the sink... just found out that this kettle was rated 20 out of 25 by"which" consumer magazines review of kettles ..and i can see why!..pay more(or less) and get something else is my advice as it is way overpriced

best multi.-function chopper ever!

This is by far the best thing for any kitchen, seriously! I first bought mine about two years ago when I lived in the USA, just like everything it did in the t.v. infomercial, I was able to do, too! I made everything so fast and simple, and tasty too! It's the ultimate drinks machine, too! Made loads of frozen yummies, to decadent desserts, sauces, snacks, etc. When I moved to the UK I had to give it to my mum, who after using it the first time was also thoroughly amazed! I've know bought a UK version, and love having it in my kitchen! The price is ultra cheap compared to that of a traditional blender that only does one job- this does it all, for a fraction of the price, is compact, but can be used with the large blender type cup for preparing large amounts of contents, just like you would use a huge pricey blender. It's an ingeneous device, really!

Great Product - Shame About The Delivery

Along with other customers here, the product seems really good but it did not arrive on time despite paying extra for guaranteed delivery on a Saturday, and then it was delivered damaged with a dent in the side panel. I had to take it in the back of my car to work for it to be collected there (collections only Mon-Fri), then had to take a day off to be at home for the re-delivery - all unnecessary when so many customers have lodged complaints about the couriers with Amazon.

Great quality product

Fantastic product. It does the following exceptionally well:

1. Looks good, stylish yet utilitarian - does not over do the design

2. Well made: heavy gauge stainless steel, rubber where there should be rubber and a lovely soft opening lid. This really is a quality product worth the extra

3. Easy read filling gauge which lights up with a blue light when on - looks great and really functional

4. Fantastic base with retractable flex facility

Overall: well designed, well made and looks good. I would buy another at the same price.

The best thing since slice bread

What can i say!!!!! its brilliant. it took us years to find the perfect sandwich maker, we finally found it. In fact the day it arrived we decided to try it, and after making the first sandwich i was buying a second one. There's no mess, easy clean and the bread does not stick to the plates even without butter or oil. It cooks very quickly (just watch your fingers as it does get really hot). Highly recommended for those tostie enthusiasts and a must for a kitchen gadget.

Almost very good

On the whole this product has been really good, but struggles with some the more awkward cans e.g. Fray Bentos tins.
The knife sharpening grinders are a bit of a joke as the 'low cost' manufacture means the grinders are a bit off centre and the knife guides are a bit hit and miss - for sharpening get yourself a Chantris and steel.
Summary: Very good for most tins, so I can't blame it struggling with awkward ones. Well done Beijing.

A great combination

This is a great addition to our kitchen (and camping equipment). A great combination of the now infamous grill with the added bonus of a great griddle. Each can be switched on or off and temperature controlled independently and has plenty of room to make a meal for four - our particular favourite being chicken fajitas (chicken on the grill, onions, peppers and spices on the griddle)

It's easy to use and clean, it cooks meat beautifully and has had admiring looks and comments from all who have seen it.

It has really come into its own for us when camping - in this modern age of electric hook-up for tents as well as caravans we can now cook a much wider range of dishes.

For £35, delivered free by Amazon within a couple of days, you can't go wrong!

first class sandwich maker

I would 100% recommend this. The toasties come out very light and crispy, definitely worth spending the extra money on.

was intially very happy with purchase-update

Being shallow, I fancied adding another piece of stainless steel kit to glitz up my kitchen worksurfaces. The kettle has a steel band around the bottom of a clear plastic jug. As another manufacturer recalled its glass jugged ketttle recently, the plastic is actually very reassuring and seems pretty tough so far.

In true 21st century kitsch style you get a blue LCD light illuminating the frantic bubbling water. You push a button to automatically open the lid for filling (all nice and easy). A flat clear projecting peg at the bottom provides the on switch- although I did a double take in the first week because I'm so used to pushing in a button at the top to power up. There is no minimum marking and the measurements are in cups (1.5 cups fills a mug). The fact that you can see the complete water level as opposed to just a cut away has meant that I am more conscious of how much water I put in -which will hopefully mean a few pence saved off my electricity bill.

There is a little water condensation/drip on the metal power base at times and I've taken to mopping this up (never noticed it on my previous white jug kettle). And it does boil faster than its predecessor, so I can feel less guilty about replacing something just on the basis of looks.

===review update 20 July 2008===== More and more I kept hearing a strange noise coming from the kettle as though it was trying to boil- Occasionally it refused to cut off and kept fiercely boling. I've tagged this down to the absolute necessity to keep the base wiped from any drips- otherwise it gets in the electrics (ie the central columnn the kettle sits on). My other half has the previous more opaque version at his work address and this does not leave drips on the base. It just seems to be down to the angle of the spout- rather bizarre as I've never noticed this on any other kettles.

Since I've started meticulously wiping up the drips it seems to be behaving fine.

My other half's older work model - the Breville JK27- has just exploded into about 20 pieces (as he foolishly assumed that it could be left unattended to turn itself off). Truly after reading all the reviews on this site I query what has happened to the humble kettle. Getting a model that works and doesn't alter the taste of the water seems an incredible battle. If you do get a kettle that you are pleased with after a good run in I urge you to enlighten the rest of us- we need your help!

Good handy mixer

I bought this for my wife. she really likes it..now i am having cakes every other day ..the only negative point so far is the weight of this machine but otherwise very handy and easy to use.

Very Good - just a bit noisy when starting from cold

Good styling - comfortable handle and has water level view and logo on both sides so good for left handed or right handed use.

Great lid - easy to open by pressing the switch on the handle whilst holding it; very handy when you don't have two hands free and safer when re-filling /topping up the kettle after just boiling it, as you don't have to put your hand anywhere near the steam.

Quick boil? - boils a litre of cold water in just over 2 minutes.

Downsides - noisier than my previous kettle when started from cold. Once it heats up it quietens to a more reasonable level. I might have thought twice about buying this kettle if I'd known this, but there isn't much choice of kettle's with this styling and this type of lid, so overall I'm happy with it.

cheap but definitely not cheerful

We purchased this kettle and toaster combo as we felt Russell Hobbs was a name you could trust. The design seemed modern and did exactly what we wanted. However, after a couple of months the toaster started to not release the toast and we ended up burning toast every time we used it. The light system is also hard to read. Then the kettle, scaled up very quickly and burns your hand when pouring. It has also started to leak. All in all it has been the worst purchase we have ever made and now we're on the lookout again for alternative.

Great little ice cream maker

This ice cream maker is great! its smaller than one i had before which i like as it takes up less room in the freezer, it is just the right size for two people and its quick, turn it on before you sit down for dinner and it's ready by the time you've finished eating,(ice cream in 20 mins)
