3rd time lucky - No such luck

I purchased one of these kettles in 2005 and it looked and worked great for a few months but then the filter fell off -- previously the lid had failed to open fully and had to be used manually but we lived with that

The filter, even if you think you don't need, one is a worse problem because the kettle does not turn off as quick and fills the room with steam - we got a replacement under guarantee and that had the same initial problem with the lid but this time the filter which is not repairable lasted about 2 years so we contacted Morphy (01709 582402) who offered us a good will replacement for £27

Since we have had these kettles we must have"sold" about 20-25 of them as everyone who sees it wants one but the latest models only have one neon lamp and are not as impressive as the original build in fact during the day the effect is hardly noticeable and in low light the effect looks ubalanced whereas previously you wanted to boil more just to see it.

It appears that Glen Dimplex (Morphy) marketing have decided to remove one lamp to enable resellers to offer the kettle at discount comparable to other"normal" kettles but with only one lamp during the day it is a"normal" kettle but one with a lid button that does not work and an non repairable filter

The worst kettle ever.

This is the worst kettle (as far as im aware) you could buy.

I grant you it looks nice, and I brought this along with the matching toaster (another product not to touch, and will review in a minute) and blender (ok so far, but it get's little use).

I brought the kettle several months before I moved house, and it remained in its packaging until then, within a couple of months of use I started to notice a small amount of water on the base when I lifted the kettle. Initially I put this down to having been spilled by myself or partner either lifting or replacing the kettle. The couple of drops of water have now turned, into a massive puddle which needs to mopped up with a tea towel. The kettle has been in use for about a year now, we keep it on a tea towel to absorb the water, and only fill it when we need to use it, and any remaining water gets emptied out. Leaving it full overnight would certainly not be a good idea!

Between the kettle and toaster Philips have ensured that i never buy another product from them, I just hope that I never have the misfortune of being hooked up to any of their medical equipment.

I would have left this review sooner but these things always take longer to get around to than you expect.

I'm in love with my kettle! (And no, I'm not weird!)

This kettle is gorgeous, curveaceous and sexy! It's not boring black, snoreworthy silver or icky white plastic - it's an absolutely lush shade of blue (it also apparently comes in a sexy scarlet, but that wouldn't match my kitchen).

It's also highly functional - it pours beautifully, not a drop spilt! Until I used this kettle I thought it was an impossibility to have a kettle that didn't spill, drip or otherwise deposit boiling water where it was not required, but this lovely kettle has proved me wrong.

I knocked a star off because it is a bit noisy (only to be expected with a metal kettle) and doesn't have all that"cool-wall" technology (but common-sense tells you that a kettle is going to be hot - and it shouldn't be near small children anyway!) BUT it's worth it to get that little skip of joy very time you go to use this beautiful object.

I'm hoping that my toaster dies soon so that I can justify buying the matching toaster!

So Far, So Good

We don't seem to have a lot of luck with kettles in our house, but there are four of us and it is rarely off. 18 months is the typical life per kettle. This one is stylish, with one or two novel extras. There is a push button mechanism to open the lid. If anything is going to go wrong I think it will be this and have told everybody to fill it through the spout, which is a generous one and the kettle can easily be filled this way without any trouble.

The kettle has a large clear panel on the side which allows you to see how much water is in the kettle. It is measured in two cup, four cup etc. and is easy to read unlike many. When the kettle is on this window lights up in a handsome psychedelic blue light. Another novelty, but useful as well, is when the kettle has boiled it whistles. I purchased the cream trim one to go with our kitchen.

All in all a handsome kettle that does its job well. Ask me again in 18 months.

Heavy kettle, difficult lid, can't leave water in it

This kettle is VERY heavy before any water is added., heavier than any kettle I have had before.
The lid is very difficult to remove which is unfortunate as the instructions say that the kettle must not be filled via the spout. When I tried to remove the lid after using the boiled water in order to refill the kettle, I could not do so because the metal band on the lid was scalding hot.
The instructions stated that water must not be left in the kettle! I have never had a kettle which could not have water left in it. This is VERY inconvenient.
The matching toaster becomes burningly hot when used. The description did not state `cool wall' but I did not think toasters were still made which became hot to this extent which I consider risks a burn if touched accidentally. With my previous toaster the base was designed to allow excess electric cable to be wound round it. The Prestige deco toaster does not allow this and so the excess cable is visible and in the way.

Montana Kettle does not boil

Purchased the first kettle which had intermittent spells of turning off too soon, not allowing water to boil, and was very noisy. Changed under warranty after 4 months. The second kettle was not so noisy, and operated fine for 1 month, then the same problem began to occur, not reaching boiling point. If this fault could be corrected, I would be happy, as everything else about it is fine.

Rust!

This kettle looks nice but, upon receipt, I found rust on the bottom inside the kettle and had to return it.
