Liquid Heaven

This was a perfect present for those who are chocaholics. It's extremely simple to use, easy to clean and is of solid construction. Granted you do need alot of people present to make it worth taking out as you need around 800g of chocolate. Very good value for money.

Clever design, but not up to standard

Such a clever design, the dome that becomes a bowl!

Unfortunately, the little metal 'oar' that mixes and spreads the popcorn over the heated surface came off after about 5 uses. Tried to put it back a couple of times, but is keeps coming out.

There also is a bit too much build up of steam, which threatens to make the popcorn go soggy.

And now that I have used it, I have come to realise that the dome becoming the bowl is not all that great, because one is unlikely to make one batch only.

I'd get a hot hair popper again. Good old times.

ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL & DANGEROUS

Received this Popcorn maker for Christmas 2005! Was really excited at first until I saw how it worked and what happened after my 3rd attempt. I really don't know how such a poor quality product can make it through the quality control tests...

The most annoying thing is you can only pop corn every 15 minutes, as you have to let it 'cool down' before you can make another batch (so is useless for parties, etc, pointless...).

Secondly, when you do make popcorn, it goes EVERYWHERE! This is mainly because the dispensing part of the machine is so poorly designed that it is too short and too 'open', thus allowing the popcorn to go all over the place - literally AND it is HOT (the unpopped kernals, of which there are very many!), so if it hits your arm, or worse, your eye, or a child, your in trouble.

However, what got me to return it to the store straight away was when it started spitting out little sparks after only the 3rd turn! I did allow it to cool down but this was the last straw. It also seemed to spit out the popcorn like a maniac by the 3rd time. I concluded that this product was highly unsafe and certainly not good for children, who this particular popcorn maker is aimed at. 0 stars.

Fun and Easy to use

At first we tried this without oil (the healthy option) but it didn't pop very many of the kernels and my little boy was very disappointed. However, we tried it again with a little oil and WOW!! amazing difference and much tastier and crunchier popcorn as a result. We sprinkle it with a little sweetner and it's delicious. It's great fun as you can see the corn popping through the large clear bowl on top, which doubles as the bowl for eating it from - great! As it has a non-stick cooking plate, it's VERY easy to clean, just a wipe with the sponge and dry with kitchen paper and the bowl needs to be cleaned in the sink unfortunately (not suitable for dishwashers) but it doesn't take much to wash it out. It's highly entertaining and makes movie night that bit more special for everyone, especially my sons' friends, you hardly need a DVD when you have this little machine - FANTASTIC!! And worth every penny I would say.
