brilliant

thanks to previous reviewers I have today purchased one of these and it is indeed BRILLIANT. Easy to manouver for a female and does exactly what it is supposed to . have to admit I didn't actually buy it from here cos I wanted it today but got it for the same price at homebase. shame it's started to rain now but I have just done my front lawn in quick time and the grass was very long and quite wet and this mower cut through it with ease. highly recommend it .

Proof that the simplest solutions are the best

I bought this to replace a broken flymo. Actually that is not quite true I bought a small flymo to replace a flymo that had broken but that was so bad and inadequate that it was bought tried and returned for a refund in a single afternoon. After that I bought this to replace the electric mower and it is a revelation to use one of these. Most people will probably assume that any powered solution must automatically be better but this proves otherwise.

Unless you have a large lawn this is far less work than trying to use any small powered mower. It's lighter to move around the garden, the grass cuttings are small enough that they can be left on the lawn without problems and there are no problems with cables getting in the way. Are there any problems with this? well none that you wouldn't have with a powered lawn mower, the only problem I have found is a tendency to clog on the first cut of the year but I've found that with every lawn mower I've ever used.

Above all this has one major virtue that no other lawn mower has - it is so simple that the chance of it's breaking is so low as to be negligible and if anything does go wrong then you can fix it yourself.

Unless you have a large lawn then I would recommend to anyone that they ditch the power mowers and get one of these.

Disappointed

Purchased this mower after reading all the fantastic reviews, after my Flymo 380's motor packed in after only three years. Unpacked Easi Trak this afternoon, assembled it which was simple enough. Was hoping to complete the last mow of the season started when the Flymo packed up a couple of weeks ago. Well after pushing a couple of seconds a wheel fell off, put it back and a few more seconds later two wheels fell off. Have completed half of the lawn and have given up after putting the wheels back every few seconds. The wheels do not have any clip to secure to the mower. I haven't read of this problem happening with any other reviewers. Plan to return it and buy an alternative model. Am very disappointed.

excellent mower, but if there's a homebase / B&Q near you, it is significantly cheaper there!

out of the box and took only 5 mins to assemble. Works straight away and is a efficient and all-the-same quiet mower. But it did take a week for the order to come through, so as stated in the title - pick one up at your local store for an even cheaper price!

Bosch Rotak 37 Li - ingenious use of rechargeable battery

This is a good rotary mower but to achieve the battery life in the advertisements you need to push the mower at a fair walking pace with the blades set to a height of 3 out of 7 settings on fairly short, reasonably dry, grass. To encourage you Bosch have fitted a block (which can be easily removed) preventing you from trying a low cut.
I should perhaps have bought the next size up with two batteries but my lawn did satisfy the requirements in the advert.

simply superb

Cuts beautifully, simple, manoeuvrable can carry this through one hand.
Had a £100+ worth flymo before this, which was very awkward to carry through the house and was awkward when the grass box began to fill up. I'm finding this cuts better and remains effortless when the grass box is completely full.
This is worth at least twice as much as the ticket price.

Only just does anything

With its flimsy little plastic blades and uselessly short power cable, this tiny and not so very powerful mower is more of a newsence to use than it`s worth. It takes it about 15 minutes to mow down an area of 12x6 feet and it hardly cutts - more mashes the grass down. It spins quite fast relative to its size, but this only helps mangle its little, useless, blunt blades up. They need to be replaced very often and there are only 3 of the little plastic things in the entire mower anyway. If you start it up on the grass it has a nasty habit of uprooting it where you start it so it`s best to start it on concreat and then move it onto the grass while it is still running. It is ok if you only need to mow a couple of dozen square feet, but anything above that and I think you probably need to look elsewhere.

Good product

Although the construction doesn't appear very robust, it performs remarkably well. Trying to manually rake a lawn of any size is back-breaking work & therefore this electric lawn rake / scarifier works a treat.

The grass collection box is small and does require frequent emptying. It is suprising how much moss & thatch that normal lawnmowing isn't able to remove.

After a couple of years use in both spring and autumn(also using feed & weed granules), my lawns are totally transformed.

great, and powerful - but perhaps not true alternative to petrol

Our lawn is more like field grass, than garden grass. We're moving somewhere more sensible and bought the Rotak with that in mind. Considering it was an overdue first cut of the year, I have to say the Rotak coped very well. It was however a fair slog to shove through some of the thicker clumps, with battery life suffering when being overworked. Life should be easier now post first-cut, and cordless operation is a joy, but I would still have gone with self-propelled petrol if i was going to have to hack through this in the long term. For any sensible medium sized lawn, the Rotak would be very good, and I suspect its more robust than its slightly flimsy plastic (but lightwieght) construction suggests. I guess its a sign of getting old when you start reviewing lawnmowers...

A Good All-Rounder

I have purchased a new 380 to replace an older 380 that I managed to burn out after at least eight years of abuse. I think that it was trying to mow a building materials bag that finally finished it off. My garden resembles the Somme and my old Flymo took all the abuse that my garden threw at it. It had coped with bricks, bits of concrete as well as the lumps and bumps all over the garden. I have used my Flymo to cut down a lawn that had been left, on more than one occasion, for over a year. This included thistles, brambles, bindweed as well a grass that was about two feet high. I will admit that it is a heavy machine to use but that is a small price to pay for its capabilities. After use it usually got thrown back in the shed and forgotten about until it was next needed. If you are prepared to accept that it can be heavy to use (I have never tried it on a nice level lawn!) you will find this a reliable, useful mower. I would have no reservations in recommending this machine.

Get a hover mower?

Maybe my experience with this will improve as I get used to it.
But it started off badly because the assembly instructions, printed on a scrap of paper, are pathetic. And wrong. There are screws supplied to atttach the cable tidy, but no way of screwing them into the two halves of the bit of plastic. I was in a seriously bad mood by the time I'd got it working. Everything feels crudely made. I just hope it's because it's tough.
The cable. 15m sounds a lot, but they may as well give you a metre because most people are still going to need an extension.
There's an 'easy height adjuster' on the side of the mower. Except that it isn't, because once again, it's very crude and stiff.
The motor's nice and quiet, I'll give it that, and I guess it cuts well enough.
I didn't manage to get any stripes on my lawn and I suspect that you can't have your cake and eat it: it's a very lightweight mower. That roller probably doesn't press hard enough because of that.
Oh and when you detach the grass box, half the grass falls out.
I wish I'd bought a hover mower.

Good for the Lazy Gardener

This lawn mower is good at what it does. Cutting grass, particularly long grass, even wet grass, or if your really keen long wet grass. For these conditions it is ideal. For those of us who are lazy, or just do not want to be constantly emptying a grass box it is also ideal. Also for those who have no means of recycling the mowings from the lawn it is a big plus, particularly with town councils clamping down on what they will and will not collect.

It has a powerful motor which is ideal for tackling grass that has been allowed to grow longer than normal and another big plus is that it folds together nicely and can be hung on a wall somewhere without taking up too much valuable room. The one down side with mowers of this type is that the lawn eventually has a 'thatch'. This is caused by the lawn clippings being left on top of the grass. A good scouring with a lawn rake can be beneficial in these circumstances.

If you want a lawn that looks like a bowling green with nice stripes on it, then this is not the mower for you. However if your 'grass' is not pretending to be a lawn and most of the time is used by half the kids in the neighbourhood as a football pitch, this mower will help to keep it manageable. All in all a good all purpose mower that takes a lot of the hard work out of keeping the grass short.

3 mowers in 3 years

Allthough the mower worked well and collected the grass ok, I only was able to use it once. after the second time the impeller was ruined and sheer pins snapped causing the unit in-oprable so much so it had to be renewed under warrenty. the same happened to the second and third mowers.. Allways the same fault with the impeller. Since the initial warrenty has run out and it wasnt continued on to the new replacements I now have to pay for the parts myself or get a new mower. It will not be one of these again.
