a cool gadget

it is an astonising cool looking camcorder and has a lot of cool features.

Barrel distortion and disappointing increased field of view

Let's start with the good - very solid feel, fits nicely on the camcorder and comes with front and rear lens caps and a soft carry pouch.

Optical performance is a huge let down however, with the lens zoomed out to its widest setting there is obvious barrel distortion (where the vertical edges of the image have visible curvature) and the increase in the field of view is really very limited and certainly not sufficient to justify the price for this adapter. If you increase the zoom, the barrel distortion disappears and the lens actually handles zoom through quite well (many cheaper adapters don't) but you don't buy a w/a converter to use with the zoom function!!

There is a more expensive WDH-34 version of this adapter which may be better but imo you would be better going for a 0.5x decent brand of w/a adapter (this is a 0.7x) and use a stepping ring if you can't get a match for a 34mm thread.

Definitely a 'try before you buy' product - didn't work for me and I returned mine to the shop for a refund.

A must for your camcorder

I think for the size and quality this is a must for your camcorder. However, it is quite limited to very short distances and narrow angles. Otherwise it is quite a small and handy accessory, especially for photos.
