I bought one of these PNY Attache 2 USB 2GB drives for this purpose. This was done blindly as I could not find any information about the compatibility of this drive (and a 1 year old 1GB PNY Attache USB drive I own fails the performance test). However luck was on my side and the drive is fast enough. I now have a much quieter (and slightly quicker) PC, from which I only hear the HDD being used when I am actually opening or saving a file or program!
Another selling point for this drive over many others is that the cover for the USB plug does not come off the drive and therefore will not get lost as nearly always seems to happen with these drives. It would however have been nice if PNY had included a key ring hook.

Does what it says on the tin
Nowadays a USB flash memory drive is an essential to anyone who uses a computer. In recent months the price of these drives has fallen and the speed risen. Bigger drives tend to be better value in terms with how many pounds a GB costs. If you consider just that then at the time of writing this drive is poor value. However in all reality how many people really need to carry 8 or even 4GB of files about with them? I use computers a lot both in my home and work life, and I know I never need even 2GB. The reason I would recommend a 2GB drive is for use for the ReadyBoost feature of Windows Vista. The standard amount of RAM for a Vista PC would be 2GB, and with that amount of RAM a 2GB flash drive is optimal for ReadyBoost use.I bought one of these PNY Attache 2 USB 2GB drives for this purpose. Review for SANDISK CRUZER MICRO U3 512MB BLK:
Quite happy with the speeds, goes quite fast (not sure on the technical details!), really lightweight and easy to transport and works fine with Windows Vista. Well the stick works with Vista, however the U3 programs don't but I didn't want these anyway :)

Very pleased with this one!
Everyone has a memory stick these days, and for those people that haven't got one I can recommend this one, it's small and handy. The retractable cap is a good idea to keep it clean, and so you can't lose the end!Quite happy with the speeds, goes quite fast (not sure on the technical details!), really lightweight and easy to transport and works fine with Windows Vista. Recommended for everyone except the fingerprint-phobic
Admittedly, this is the only USB flash drive I've used, so I don't have anything with which to compare it, but I'm pleased with the drive so far. From my point of view it scores highly both in terms of looks and performance.One point worth noting for anyone with an older operating system, is that although the drive itself is compatible with Windows 98 onwards, the pre-installed 'Virtual Expander' software, which can triple the capacity of the drive by compressing files, only works with Windows XP and Vista.
Also, the dimensions stated in Amazon's product description are a bit misleading; the drive actually measures approximately 66 x 17 x 7 mm.
