Great alternative to a multi speaker system
It's taken me a while to put together a decent home cinema system but with a girlfriend who isn't that bothered about surround sound, making the case for a proper sound setup was difficult (too many wires!). Listening to Batman Begins on Bluray on my new YSP 500 I'm blown away by how close this is to a full Dolby 5.1 system. It's not 100% perfect but the separation of the sound channels is very clear and make for a much richer film experience. In particular, the splitting of dialogue from music makes an enormous difference to the experience. It's true that the subwoofer isn't amazing but you can get a separate one to add on if you like. For me, however, this is more than acceptable and has already improved my movie-watching experience enormously. I can't wait to try the Xbox 360 on it :-)
