Picture quality

I bought this DVD player but took it back as the picture quality stored on it was poor! I found the instructions difficult to understand and I was very disappointed in not being able to tune my digital tv into it!

This baby rocks.

Having had this micro system a month now, it still rocks my boat.Sound quality is perfect,even at high volumes it does not sound boomy.This baby rocks, i have hooked all my mp3 players to it with ease.Even hook my laptop to it to listen to my tunes, and the sound from my dvds are far better than the laptop tinny sound.Ripping is a breeze to use.It is awesome system for the price,it is in piano black and matches all my gadgets cool.LOVE IT.

Please note...

Even before listening to this stylish compact system, it came to my immediate attention that the ONLY auxiliary input is located on the front panel via a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack. This stereo is very much aimed at those who wish to maybe connect their MP3 player on the odd occasion - In which case this system would be adequate. It however provides very poor connectivity for those like myself wishing to connect their MP3 player via a dock. This to all intents and purpose is ok although it then provides no means of charging whilst you listen. So, on this conclusion I connected the dock to the system via a USB cable thinking it would solve all the problems, although still protruding out the front of the system. OH NO! Via USB, unless the MP3 player you own is a Sony of a specific model specified by their manual, it acts only as a storage device no longer allowing you to control what plays and when. By this I mean you can skip through the tracks using the remote or controls on the top of the unit, but have no control over the order nor can see albums available etc. I have a 30Gb Ipod Video. It is for this reason I cannot give this system an average score.

Never the less, it does look stylish and the sound quality, it has to be said, is not bad at all for a micro system. Although lacks `umph', especially down-grading from a mini system.

Stylish, practical and I love it!

Bought this little puppy a couple of days ago. I liked it because it's stylish and very different from the range of others that I looked at. It also has the name of JVC attached to it, which I trust from experience.

From the box, it took me less than 10 minutes to put together. Within half an hour, the radio stations had self-tuned, and I was playing a CD. All working perfectly. DAB clarity great.

I paid £89 for mine, and I just love it. No negative issues at all with it. Understated, a little minimalist, does just what I want. What more could you ask?

neat with i-podability

I use it to supply 2.1 to my lcd 32 inch TV since it also runs a sub woofer. The DAB radio is fine and the input for the TV sound plays well. the CD player is on the money as well. But its main advantage is its i-pod pod which happily charges up the nano pod while playing through the system. If it could play DVDs and upscale them it would get the five stars.

Good product for the price

I'm pleased with this - the specification is very good for just over £60. The sound quality is good and 40W output usually costs more than this. I wanted a compact hi-fi with a CD player (that could play CD-R and MP3) and an AV input so that I could connect my MP3 player. It's nice to have all that and a USB port and a card reader as well on this one. It is compact but not quite as much as I would have liked (the main unit is 15cm high and 21cm wide which is fine but the depth is 26cm) but I've struggled to find a decent hi-fi that is less deep than that. The speakers are only about 21cm deep so they do fit on a shelf nicely. The set up of the buttons on the front and the remote make it easy to use and came with an English manual.

I was a bit worried about it coming with a UK adaptor for a European plug as my experiences of using travel adaptors is that they can be a bit unstable - but the UK adaptor that it came with fits securely (and it seems permanently) onto the plug and it looks hardly any different from a standard UK plug. Overall, I'm happy - seems a bit of a bargain.

Great system, but things missing!!

I bought this to replace a Sony Micro system & I used both the display clock & auxiliary input constantly. However, the Panasonic only displays the clock for 5 seconds (!!) & has no auxiliary input. I have managed to get around this, but it doesn't feel like a complete system.
That said, the DAB radio is excellent & though I haven't used it yet, the option to hook up your MP3 player is a bonus.

Excellent stereo!

Bought this for use in a large bedroom, and I was a bit wary due to the negative reviews here. However, I have found this to be an excellent stereo all round. It's compact and stylish, easy to use and the sound quality is fantastic for my requirements. It also tunes quicker, and finds more DAB stations than any other DAB radio in the house. Don't get this if you want to rock at maximum volume as it doesn't have the power, but beyond that - fully recommended.

Very good, but doesn't do what it says on the tin

Let's start with the good points, great sound, feels well build, great features and (subjectively) looks good. Did I mentioned it sounds great with my Q-Acoustics 1020i speakers? Absolutely highly recommended...

So how come only 3 stars, well very simply it does not do what it says on the tin. I connected it up via HDMI to my Pioneer PDP-435XDE and the moment the camera pans, the picture tears in a terrible way. It actually made me physically ill watching it. Image is great on Scart (RGB) and Component, but HDMI just cannot be used. I tried all settings 480p/60, 576p/50, 720p/60, 720p/50, 1080i/60, 1080i/50 and all the same. But applying the region hack I was able to spin R1 discs and they are fine...It only happens on R2 discs so those intended for Europe where I bought it!!!

Now it could be faulty, and since I liked it so much I tried another unit exactly the same happened. I spoke to the manager in Richersounds where I bought my replacement for the Teac as they sell them as well, and he said that HDMI is not good on those units.....

Got to say if it was £100 less I would have kept it as I really liked it otherwise and are not that bothered about upscaling since my plasma does that as well. However when I pay for something I like all functions to work....

So be warned, don't by this for HDMI upscaling as you may get disappointed, only the second time around I actually noticed the the manual acknowledges artefacts may happen (p42) and suggests to use an SDTV output instead! (Unbelievable)....
